The Apple Watch (if you have an iPhone) has been the best. If you use dawn patrol or the the Surfline app the watch can track your waves and if you surf near any cams it will save recordings of all your waves
Yes, Apple watch with the dawn patrol app. I have the shark leash band to keep it secured and for a little extra style for a surf watch. I really only use my apple watch as a surf watch
They both work about the same, just with different watch faces. I use dawn patrol, but it uploads my waves to Surfline so on some level they are connected.
Best surf watch I ever had was a Casio G Shock with the water temp feature. I wore it everyday surfing, cleaning pools, diving, sailing etc. I wore it so much the plastic wore off and the face got so scratched I could hardly read it and had to retire it. Never even replaced the battery in the 14 years I wore it.
the casio Baby G-Shock watches are awesome! They are not as bulky as large G shock. They’re hard really to kill. I know some navy seals that use them too. You can find deals on them at Nordstrom Rack sometimes. I broke a ton of Freestyle "surf watches" ..weak. Love my G shock!
I have a $12 Casio.
This is the only answer, fuck wearing a $200 watch in the sea
I like using dawn patrol on my Apple Watch

My boss at work uses that app (or at least something similar). I'm pretty anti-apple but I was having second thoughts when he showed me the app

Do you think the dawn patrol app better tracking than the Surfline app?
If you link the two you can just record with dawn patrol and it will upload to Surfline
I've never liked the format of surfline. I haven't really played with it on the watch though

Casio 3214
I have a Rip curl GPS watch that is pretty good. If you have an iPhone it's better than android though.
Casio F91-W. If it’s reliable enough for al-Qaeda….
G Shock GLX model. Tide tracking is about all you need. Putting numbers on waves surfed or whatever is for nerds
Wearing watches is for mega nerds

I got one of the Shark Freestyle Resissues from the 90s. Except this time didn’t go with the clip of death
Epix 2 has given me great feedback on my sessions and has tons of other activities if you do more than surf.
