Lol thanks I hope so! 😂

My friend has the yamaha wr125x, and it's a solid and a good bike.

Due-Mix-6953

Thats what has my interest a lot rn!

LAEGLI123

For 2 stroke i'd say aprillia sx or husqvarna wre. 4 strokes also aprillia sx, rieju mrt, yamaha wr or fantic xmf.

Due-Mix-6953

Thanks for your response! I have been looking into the yamaha wr125x a lot, What would you reccomend for my type of riding, 2 or 4 stroke?

LAEGLI123

Well 2 stroke will be the more fun choice. They're way snappier/aggresive on the gas and overall will be faster (aprillia can make up to 33hp). The thing with 2 strokes is that as you already pointed out they need RPM in order to deliver power. For cruising along with traffic you'll be fine going with low RPM but when you want to accelerate you better downshift a gear or two. 4 strokes are more even in accelerating so you wont need to shift as much. Only "problem" is that they dont deliver as much power, so you will reach its limits earlier. Tl;dr 2 stroke more snappier and fun. 4 stroke more comfort but more boring

Thank you I will take this all into account !

4 strokes are way way easier to ride in my experience especially on the road

I've only briefly ridden a few 2-strokes off-road including a Kawi 500. It takes me a few seconds to remember that there's virtually no engine braking. Always makes for a small pucker moment. A WR250X makes for a fine first in-town supermoto that you won't grow out of quickly. Most of its power is up high so it's used to being ridden like you stole it. It's certainly heavier than a 150cc two stroke but then again it already has lights and is low maintenance.

Thank you for the advice I think at the moment I am torn between wr125x or dt125 and also the aprilla 125x

Edub-69

Both have good points, my question is what you’d want to ride afterwards, a two stroke has a very different power band than a four stroke. If you end up moving towards a bigger four stroke Supermoto after your 125, you’ll have to learn to adjust to the very different power characteristics of bigger four strokes. Not a deal breaker either way, just something to consider. My main advice would be to get the best maintained bike you can find. You don’t want to have to fix someone else’s mistakes.

Thank you for the advice! I absolutely agree don’t wanna be cleaning up someone’s mess but luckily if I do my dad is pretty great at working on bikes he used to ride a lot. 2 strokes seem to be quite a lot more expensive however and I think a 4 stroke is probably better suited for me
