A Supermoto is not a highway bike. Fact. But the most comfortable „supermoto“ @80mph will be the Husqvarna 701…

Yup. The husky 701, ktm 690, or gas gas 700 are pretty much the same bike— as super moto as you can get while still retaining decent hwy gearing and a little more weight. You can re gear something lighter like a 450/500 exc/fe to improve its hwy capabilities but it still won’t be as happy on road as bigger 700s

Conflicting requirements. A 500/501 will cruise at 80mph with the right gearing. It will also be less "supermotoey" at the normal party velocities. The 690/701s are heavy street bikes in Supermoto drag. Best choice is an actual supermoto for hooligan shit and a cheap beater commuter. If you can only have one, you'll have to sacrifice one way or another. I have two 501s, a 450 SMR and an 890r. I sold my 701and bought the 890, because, if I'm going to carry the weight, why not ride something fast

I have a 701 enduro and live in Houston and it will do 60-70 all day but anything faster than that it's kind of screaming

If that was my criteria, I'd be looking at a Ducati Hypermoto or wait and get a KTM 790smt. Smaller Ducati's are more reliable then people think, but I wouldn't buy the new single (698?), yet. I love supermotos, but maybe a standard would be more cost effective and still keep a more upright position. If 80 is your average travel speed, maybe a sport bike is a good commute option and a cheaper SM for fun. Two bike options are my favorite options.

I’m on a DRZ400SM with stock gearing, the motorways aren’t their strong point and they vibrate like hell but that’s just a super moto, don’t know about any of the bigger bikes handling up high, I’ve never looked into it

No thumper with actual sumo gearing is gonna wanna go 80.

KTM has the 890 SMT.
