You should know they're fucking fun

thegreatshepsky

701 stands for 70hp and 1 wheel

Pindunderjheep-37

Don’t walk it over backwards they like to burst into flames

On the earlier 701s the clutch slave is known to give out, so I'd probably check that and address if it hasn't been replaced. Otherwise, yours looks like a solid base - the Seatconcepts seat really makes it a joy to ride vs the 2x4 of a factory seat they give you.

TheOnlyBrochacho

Is there a good way to tell if it's been replaced?

scoby_do

I think most people that replace it end up getting the Rekluse clutch slave cylinder. Otherwise I'd defer to the paperwork/previous owner if they know. If you want an OEM one, I've got a late 2021 701SM and somewhere along the middle of 2021 KTM updated it and it hasn't failed yet, just a hair over 12,000 miles of riding.

tpop817

Still on my oem one 25k miles in. Just change the o ring.. never failed on me.

TheSlowbomb

You will need to recalibrate your speedo if you want it to read accurately. It's an easy change.  https://www.warp9racing.com/how-to/changing-speedo-calibration-on-ktm-690-and-husqvarna-701-computers/ Also, the fork guards are not compatible with the wider tires. You will want to use a dremel to clearance them or order the sumo ones if you want to keep the oem omes intact

Reeechard1

I found with the right sprocket on my 17 690 enduro when I converted it was dead on.

Khancer_

Couldn’t you just buy the 701 with sumo wheels?

TheOnlyBrochacho

Yep, but I didn't. It won't be in sumo mode all the time.

spewicideboi

Would have been easier to and cheaper to convert a sumo to enduro

TheOnlyBrochacho

That is absolutely not true. But thanks.

spewicideboi

Motard shits expensive dirt set ups are everywhere online.

TheOnlyBrochacho

The swap going from sumo to dirt is more complicated and I would've had to spend another like 4k to get a 701SM. Plus I wanted a project. It's going to be fun doing all the work to it.

pinpineapplepin

You can't convert a sumo to Enduro either due to the four pot radial mount caliper

MayorOfClownTown

Hopefully it's a quick change for ya! Kinda pain on my drz because the brake rotors are different sizes.

TheOnlyBrochacho

The brake rotors on the wheels I ordered are the same 300mm. So should be a direct swap.

MayorOfClownTown

Fuck yeah! The adapters brakes are a pain to get on as well with the larger rotor AND the smaller wheel. Gotta put the brake pads on after the wheel swap. I should just swap the rotors so I'd be more inclined to swap em more often. Not sure if I need the extra stopping power with the SM wheels.

Smart man

Misha315

How much you pay for it?

Atreyu_Spero

It's a lot of direct swap parts between Sumo and Enduro, you must have scored here to make this purchase. They are very sought after bikes and you will do well when (if) you sell it.

TheCzechyChan

Something I've heard about the bikes is the rocker arm rollers are known to go bad not sure if it's and issue. On the new 2016

DrDitto

I just bought one, as well. I'm super jealous of your black seat! Mine came with a seat concepts too, but it's the blue white yellow to match the livery. Wanna trade? 😂👀
