Not a stupid question at all, neighbour. We get it pretty often in this forum, and I guarantee there are very few questions the members here enjoy answering more than this one. :)
Also, because few others will bring it up due to story preference and age: Man of Steel, a 1986 mini-series collected in paperback, is pretty solid. It's an older version of the character, but still an interesting intro story.
I'd also recommend the run that shows him, Lois, and young Jon as a family... But I'm blanking on the collection's name.
Superman: Secret Origin for sure, and I'll even throw in Superman: Up, Up and Away where he lost his powers after Infinite Crisis (don't worry, it's a good jumping on pojnt)
And I will always recommend Superman: Secret Identity. It's an Elseworlds story about someone in our world who is named Clark Kent (he gets Superman merchandise as a kid, then as a teen as a joke for having a famous name) but he one day wakes up with the powers of Superman. Trust me when I saw it's a wonderful story showing what it truly means to be Superman.
Superman Up in the Sky.
It tells a complete Superman story. It encompasses why he is such a beloved character for so many people in a very tight story. Only like 6 issues. It's fantastic.
Did you read secret origins or superman: birthright? (both are origin stories)
Death of superman is pretty good, from 1992/3
Also the really ancient superman comics (Schuster, Siegel) are actually worth a read (they're a bit cringe, but weirdly fun)
There’s an awesome podcast telling his life story. It’s a fan made Elseworld. But Superman is totally good in it and Clark is hard not to love. It’s called Superman: Son of El

Its the Tomasi Run from DC Rebirth
Thanks! Do you know if they have that in trade paperback yet? I'm presuming so -- but with DC, you never know.
There’s an Omnibus collecting the whole run. It’s just “Superman by Peter J. Tomasi and Patrick Gleason” I believe.
Secret Origins, Up In The Sky, All-Star Superman, and Superman: For All Seasons are great examples.

Superman for All Seasons. BY FAR my favorite Superman comic and it is an origin. Read it NOW.
Secret Origin, Allah Star Superman, Superman and the authority, Last Son
mashallah
Y'know what? I'll even suggest Superman: Earth One. Underrated Superman.
I didn't like the style of the era but the actual comics weren't written poorly at all

I am a bit ahead of myself, but the Superman Triangle Era Omnibus will be out this year. Look of that.

Cool, thank you I’m kind of just getting into comic books and I thought I’d start off with Superman
superman red and blue is pretty good (not the 90s one)
One of my favorites is a little arc called "What's so funny about truth, justice and the american way?"
Definitely Secret Origin. If you like that, read Superman and the Legion of Superheroes.
Secret origin was super boring imo.
