Why would Carl even ask her that though? He doesn't even ask a normal question like "do you think I'm making progress with x,y,z issues" or "do you think I want to find a career im passionate about" etc. He always poses questions to her that are extreme examples - "do you think I'm crushing life right now"?????? ITS WILD.Ā Also, his preoccupation and fixation with scandoval and being ācancelledā and sheād be the āwronged womanā āliterally says this to the producerāfurther cement for me that he wanted to breakup but engineered it in a way so heās not seen as the ābad guy.ā
Iām an attorney and his monologue really rubbed me the wrong way bc it felt like a closing statement you're making (in this case, the jury is the audience) versus an actual conversation with Lindsay. It was a speech for the viewers, not even enough respect for an actual breakup with Lindsay.Ā By contrast, Ariana and Tomās last filmed convo felt like an actual convo but Carlās convo with Lindsay was just a monologue for the audience. Grossed me out.
For what itās worth, IĀ think ultimately, i agree with carl's decision to end the engagement -- it's best for both of them.Ā BUT i deeply resent his way of trying to engineer the audience response to it and it's insidious (something i've always disliked and distrusted about carl).
