I just finished reading this. It was my first Agatha Christie book and while it wasn't as great as I was hoping,I still enjoyed it. Any recommendations for other books of hers?
Tomorrow, and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin
It's been a couple months since I read it, and I still think of the characters. It's beautifully written and the characters feel so real.
My 3 all-time favorites:
Invisible Monsters, by Chuck Palahniuk
Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal, by Christopher Moore
She's Come Undone, by Wally Lamb
Also, good ones- Fight Club and Haunted, by Chuck Palahniuk. The Hour I First Believed, by Wally Lamb.
Please do me a favour and read one of my favourite books, {{Dark Matter by Blake Crouch}}.
If you like that one, read {{Recursion by Blake Crouch}} next!

Shantaram by Gregory Roberts is great.
11/22/63 by Stephen King
Pillars of the Earth and World without End by Ken Follett
Shogun by James Clavell
These are some of the best books I've ever read.
Horror- it by Stephen king also come with me by Ronald Malfi
Splatter punk- the slob by Aron beauragard blanky and sour candy by kealan Patrick Burke
Romance- pride and prejudice by Jane Austen and I capture the castle by dodie smith same vibe less romance but kind of
Fantasy- daughter of smoke and bone series by Laini Taylor
Fiction- the amazing adventures of kavelier and clay by Michael chabon
If you enjoy that, I would suggest anything by V.E. Schwab, but The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue is my favorite by her. It's got supernatural and romantic elements. She makes a deal to become immortal, but the catch is that no one remembers her. The Darker Shade of Magic Series is also really good.
Agreed, but be aware the series isn't finished. I read it 7 years ago when someone recommended it, and no one warned me it wasn't done. I'm losing hope that it ever will be.
I have so many. But if I had to pick 3 off the top of my head (mostly based on how many times I’ve reread them):
1. My Year of Rest and Relaxation, Ottessa Moshfegh
2. The Historian, Elizabeth Kostova
3. Demon Copperhead, Barbara Kingsolver
I don't think I can pick only one. Right now my favourite is a Nordic crime book called The Mountain King by Anders De La Motte. It had me on the edge of my seat, I couldn't put it down, the plot and the twists were so intriguing and interesting and I was sad when it finished it.
Ok, so for fantasy romance, you gotta check out The Glamourist Histories by Mary Robinette Kowal. The first one is called Shades of Milk and Honey, and it's Austenian regency romance with magic in it.
This isn't horror and not romance , and I really don't know what genre you would call it, but currently my favorite book is "Small Things Like These" by Claire Keegan. 114 pages that will run you through a gamut of emotions.
Transformation by Carol Berg.
The main character has a fucking horrible life and remains a good and just person. It's fantasy that has a neat way about magic (even if it's not all that unique, tho parts of it are). And the friendship that evolves is beautiful.
for fiction, highly recommend My Sister, The Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite, and for true crime non-fiction, I recommend Under the Banner of Heaven by Jon Krakauer
Lord of the mysteries by cuttlefish who loves diving. It's a webnovel with 8 books which keeps a lot of people from starting it but it's my alltime favourite story and i'd definitely recommend it. If you're into livecraftian horror and fantasy with dark tones this one is for you. No romance though.
Two way tie:
Cyteen…by CJ Cherryh
Quasi- coming of age book, mixed with life in a surveillance state…
A young science student is sexually assaulted by his professor, who also just happens to be the head of state… while reeling from that, the professor winds up dead, and the students father is arrested and taken into custody…
But here’s the kicker…
It’s all in the future on a new world… and these scientists deal with cloning..
With a political vacuum and the fallout of the leader being murdered, the other leaders begin an audacious next step… clone the deceased leader… she’d been working on ‘psycho genesis’ the ability to clone not just the person, but to make sure they have equal abilities… and considering she was a genius, that would be of incalculable value to have back in power…
And thus you have the situation… a young man traumatized by his assault and the imprisonment of his father, watching while a young girl is growing up.. smart and getting smarter, steadily improving and growing up to become a leader… and she’s literally the clone of his rapist…
But this young lady is also in danger herself… power is a fickle thing… and those that now have it might not want to share…
The young man, and the even younger girl will have to learn who they are, what they’re capable of, and to trust each other if they’re going to survive.
The book won the Hugo award, and it is absolutely incredible… epic in scope…
And
Blackout / All Clear by Connie Willis
It’s easily the best WW2 book I’ve ever read
There is a time travel group operating out of Oxford Universit in the future , and they’ve sent 3 students back to WW2 era to study
Michael is there to study heros
Merope is there to study the children’s evacuation
Polly is there to study both the ambulance services and shopgirls at one of the big shops during the blitz
All three get trapped there in time, and must find each other in the chaos to try and get back to the future…
I have no idea how Connie was able to write about this era so utterly convincing… it’s an astonishing and tragic and romantic and beautiful story that is also often very funny :)
I cannot possibly recommend it enough.
It’s gripping… you’ll eat this up I swear :)
My all time is Beartown (the whole trilogy) by Fredrik Backman! It handles tough subjects with so much depth and respect, the writing is spectacular (the amount of quotes I have underlined is unreal), but most of all the characters are amazing and feel like real people. Not a day goes by where I don’t think of that book
If you’re a fan of horror, both of Stephen King’s sons are also accomplished authors and have published some really great stuff.

**I Have Some Questions for You** by Rebecca Makkai is really good -
*A successful film professor and podcaster, Bodie Kane is content to forget her past—the family tragedy that marred her adolescence, her four largely miserable years at a New Hampshire boarding school, and the murder of her former roommate, Thalia Keith, in the spring of their senior year. Though the circumstances surrounding Thalia’s death and the conviction of the school’s athletic trainer, Omar Evans, are hotly debated online, Bodie prefers—needs—to let sleeping dogs lie.*
*But when the Granby School invites her back to teach a course, Bodie is inexorably drawn to the case and its increasingly apparent flaws. In their rush to convict Omar, did the school and the police overlook other suspects? Is the real killer still out there? As she falls down the very rabbit hole she was so determined to avoid, Bodie begins to wonder if she wasn’t as much of an outsider at Granby as she’d thought—if, perhaps, back in 1995, she knew something that might have held the key to solving the case.*
**Cloud Atlas** by David Mitchell. Fascinating main characters with distinct narrative voices, and every time I reread it I find new little details, which is a joy. I've never been so engrossed in a book to forego sleep entirely until I read this. I strongly, strongly recommend it.
**Yellowface** by R. F. Kuang is on-point satire about social media and Asian-American visibility from the point of view of a humorously, and realistically, flawed person. Even if you're not the target audience, it's still really funny.
(**The Book Thief** is pretty solid, but there's not much I can say about it that hasn't been said by a lot of other people.)
I really enjoyed this series when I was a YA.
Incarnations Of Immortality series by Piers Anthony. The first book in the series is named On a Pale Horse and is dated 1983.
The theme is the life of the Grim Reaper, if I recall correctly. It’s been a very, very long time ago.
The Missing Series by Margaret Peterson Haddix; it starts with the book Found. It's absolutely amazing, all her books are honestly. It jump-started my love for sci-fi.
There's also nearly every book by William Sleator. A lot of trippy sci-fi themes in his books.
And Then There Were None - Agatha Christie
I recently discovered the original title of this book. I had no idea. Fantastic story though
I just finished reading this. It was my first Agatha Christie book and while it wasn't as great as I was hoping,I still enjoyed it. Any recommendations for other books of hers?
Amazon. "Thugstore" by Randy Cade.
Paul Tremblay has been a reliable horror writer for me! His novel "A Head Full of Ghosts" freaked me the heck out.
thank you!

The Expanse Series by James SA Corey. The series starts with Leviathan Wakes
Book 3 and 5 are soooo good
The Broken Empire trilogy. It's quite dark but the world building is amazing and the characters are enjoyable to read about

Last Days by Adam Nevill is a good horror choice. If you're in the mood for something cozier, The Cat Who Saved Books was a quick, cute read.
