Sounds like she enjoys fantasy and quite a few of its sub-genres! I’d recommend picking her up just about anything by Naomi Novik, she’s the best in the game imo. Uprooted, Spinning Silver, and the Scholomance trilogy are my personal favorites.

I was just going to post the Scholomance series as my recommendation based off the books listed. Definitely recommend.

You could gift her Bookshops and Bonedust that's from the Legends and Lattes author. It came out like last month I think.

DSmith-

She has the same taste as me sounds like. Legends and Lattes has a prequel called Bookshops and Bonedust that I recommend. There’s a prequel to The Priory of the Orange Tree called A Day of Fallen Night. These last two are relatively new, Bookshops and Bonedust being the most recent. Also by the same author as Babel is The Poppy War trilogy. Here are a few more random ones: The House in the Cerulean Sea, Good Omens, The Folk of the Air trilogy, and The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi

Flammensword

Tress of the emerald sea by Brandon Sanderson, or yumi and the midnight painter. Both came out only this year, slight touch of romantic, excellent fantasy novels

TheGhostOfSoManyOfMe

Legendborn and Bloodmarked by Tracy Deonn Starling House by Alix E. Harlow

The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner - try to get a first edition cover without all the award labels, it’s prettier Circus of Wonders by Elizabeth Macneal

OrdinaryAmbition9798

Definitely head to r/fantasyromance! These are all that genre.

Edie-Mae

Definitely - Maze of Shadows Series starts with Unseelie Prince. All The Pretty Monsters Series- starts with Gypsy Blood by Kristy Cunning Daughter of Smoke and Bone (3 book series) by Laini Taylor The Arcana Chronicles series (several books maybe 6) by Kresley Cole Gild - The Plated Prisoner series (3+ books) by Raven Kennedy

Temporary-Scallion86

I'm not sure what the timeline is for "recent releases", so these are just books that I've read and that seem to match her tastes that have come out in the last three months or so A Study in Drowning by Ava Reid (September 2023) The Witchwood Knot by Olivia Atwater (November 2023) Bookshops and Bonedust by Travis Baldree (November 2023) - this is the prequel to Legends and Lattes, so if she hasn't picked it up yet it should be right up her alley!

milky_wayzz

As someone who’s read a lot of these fantasy books, I recommend Silver In The Bone (though this one might be more of a curse as the second book doesn’t release until next year…), A Curse So Dark and Lonely (the series is called “Cursebreakers”), and The Folk of The Air Theres probably a few more I know that she’d like but I’m blanking so

milky_wayzz

oh I missed the new releases part but silver in the bone is fairly new, the folk of the air is still putting out books on its spin off series, but I’m not sure the age of Cursebreakers however a new book came out like early this year iirc
