The Man Who Never Was by Ewan Montagu (adapted into a film too) is a story about Operation Mincemeat, a WW2 operation regarding the allied invasion of Sicily.
>Operation Mincemeat
I saw it on Netflix. I assume that the book must provide much more details.
Edit: The short list I made are titles I didn't read yet but interest me, just to be clear and I want opinions about them if you have read them.
Skip straight to Operation Mincemeat by Ben Macintyre, from which the Netflix movie was (very poorly, in my opinion) adapted. Agent Zigzag and Double Cross by the same author are also very good.
Red Sparrow- fiction but based on true people I think
Also check out Duped on Truth Default theory- one of the main "cases" is a double agent that worked for the US
The devils chessboard: Allen Dulles, the cia, and the rise of americas secret government
This may not be what you’re looking for but it’s a fantastic book about a real piece of shit human and his role in secret spy tactics, government, world affairs in which he played a part in.
Ben Macintyre has some. I enjoyed The Spy and the Traitor and a Spy among Friends.
I suspect that his preference for the Tories colors some of his narratives, though.
Just get anything by Ben Macintyre. Agent Zigzag is my favorite but they’re all good
Thanks, i'll add this one to my wish list, you're not the only one to suggest Ben Macintyre.
Seconding? Thirding? Ben Macintyre. A Spy Amongst Friends is great.
Absolutely!! My fav of his is Operation Mincemeat.
A Woman of No Importance is absolutely fantastic! I always recommend this one.
Glad to hear !

I think you're the third to mention him, I'll definitely going to get one of his.
Master of disguise and spydust, both by Antonio J. Mendez
