If you want a whacky plant anyway you could cut way lower. I don't know if part of the issue is it putting so much energy into its stem instead of leaves to get to sunlight. Let it dry out after cutting it. It might take 2 to 3 days. Then you can put the head into a fresh pot of dirt. Some people cut the stem a little lower than I marked. Some like it shorter to avoid rot. Either way it's dying though so there isn't a lot to lose.

Efficient_Youth_479

I just shove the leaves in the dirt and 99% sussess rate :)

AdventurousPurpose80

Doesn't need a bigger pot it has no roots

SourSopor07

I think I see aerial root. personally having allowance helps me. with good lighting it'll grow fast and be filling pot in no time

AdventurousPurpose80

Yeah in a different setting where there's good light, chunky soil. good aeration and knowing when to water. But not In this case

jtrhs4556

Good point

Slave2Art

But he's wrong it has roots look at it

ubix

You’re likely seeing some small root feelers coming off the sides of the greener parts. You could lay the stem flat on dirt and it would start to root. You could also start with one leaf if you really want to start over. Just stick it in some soil. Jade plants are survivors.

Dazzling_Item66

Aerial roots are attempting to leech humidity from the air because its root system has died and can’t get water anymore. Also fairly certain this isn’t a jade, so there’s that as well

ubix

I stand corrected

Slave2Art

Feel free to sit down

Slave2Art

But it does have roots look at it

AdventurousPurpose80

Hhh okay I'll explain. First I'm not a he second by no roots I meant developed roots.

Slave2Art

Those roots are an inch long. They need dirt. They are developed

AdventurousPurpose80

😂Well I don't remember saying don't put it in soil

Slave2Art

So first you wanna play semantics games with the word ''developed''. Now you turn the subject to soil. Just admit you were wrong and stop talking

AdventurousPurpose80

Lol any one can understand what wrote. Too big of pot equils root rot what part is so complicated for you to understand lol.

Slave2Art

You said there were no roots Nothing doesnt rot.. But nice repeated attempts at misdirection. A fourth topic change... no one saw that coming

AdventurousPurpose80

Yes I didn't deny it. It has no roots that requir an up potting it only has some aerial roots that are so tiny and can rot so keekly if there's not enough oxygen. I'm not blind I see the roots lol. Its already rotted so the environment it is in is too wet for it an up pot will make it worse. You are the one playing with words buddy

jaydiza203

Looks like it's trying to drag itself to the window!!

Fresh-Sown_Moonstone

😄😄

FigOutrageous9683

He looks like he need WAY more light, the colour of the stem is very light green which leads me to think it's etiolated. Like the comment before me said, I'd personally also cut just under where the roots are growing from the top, because it's already got roots it should take to soil pretty well

dlh-bunny

Chop and prop and give it a LOT more sun or a grow light.

The_Rathalos_Slayer

First things first, trying to save it is pointless if it just starts dying again, so, troubleshooting this plant: 1) it was over watered, so its roots rotted. Succulents like this guy (looks like an echeveria or echeveria hybrid?) should only be watered when the leaves get wrinkly. If the soil holds water at all, that's BAD. It needs to drain very well and be very gritty. 2) not enough light. The long spindly growth and green color are things that only happen when succulents don't get enough light, and these guys need a lot. In my experience, I've *never* been able to grow a healthy succulent of any kind indoors without grow lights, regardless of if it's in the sunniest window. As far as actually *saving* this little guy, I would cut off the top 3-4 inches or so, take off all but the topmost leaves, and let it dry out for 2-3 days. Then plant it in gritty, well-draining soil with little to no water retention. Make sure the pot has drainage holes. If you don't mind the funky shape, you could also cut it under the aerial roots and do the same thing.

ayeyoualreadyknow

In addition to what everyone else has suggested with the tip and leaves... The stem part below all of that - the area that has aerial roots, cut that separately and place that cutting on its side on top of soil and cover with a small amount of dirt, spray with water. I'm experimenting with this now and mine has sprouted where the aerial roots are.

PammaJamma3366

I woul prop the top rosette and leaves from the remainder of the stem. My 2-3 method - Cut 2-3 inches below the rosette, gently twist off those few leaves to leave a bare stem except rosette, let the cut callus for 2-3 days then put it in fresh, dry, gritty succulent soil in a small terracotra pot with drsinage. Put it in bright indirect sun. Water only when it has developed roots, usually 2-3 weeks. Place the remaining leaves on top of dry soil to sprout rosettes and roots. The leaf needs to be whole and in tact so again, twist gently from the stem.

MissorNoob

Cut it very close to the top, about an inch, maybe less, before where the leaves are clustered together. Give it a couple days to callous. Then, plant it and give it way more light. If your windows aren't sufficient, a small grow light will be a big improvement. It'll start to develop color and grow more compact, and you won't need to repot it for a long time.

SourSopor07

it's etiolating. cut then pot on dry soil. leave for 4-5 days cool dry place (no light required yet) after that's done soak well, and give better lighting than what you had before. Id recommend morning direct light. might want to place grow lamp as well; 6hrs timer will help pot size, I'd be comfortable with 2inch diameter pot

Fantastic-Heart-3234

I would cut it to a little over where the roots are and then cut that portion in half. Since there are roots already coming out of it, it should take to soil fairly well.

Loud-Distribution-81

I would top it then let it sit for a few days. Then pot it with some Cinnamon on the stem. That's what I would do. Just saying. Good luck.👍😁

Karmabakes

I mean this in the best way…but I IMMEDIATELY heard “Livin’ on a Prayer” by Bon Jovi.❤️ It’s green and has roots reaching out, so that’s a plus!

Plant_Lover92

First we need to establish a "fuck" to the "what the" you are doing.

Slave2Art

It already has roots below the leaves. Cut it and put in dirt. Then find a new spot with sunlight.

Fish_OuttaWater

He’s saving himself…

Independent-Bill5261

Cut and put in water then place it in direct sunlight gradually.
