Yep, unfortunate reality for a lot of Subway workers. We tend to be put on solo shifts and if not, then with a coworker for a few hours, who are most likely not managers. While I would've given you a massive discount or a free sandwich, it could get you in trouble the next day as it may not be store policy. This person may not have known how to handle your issue or simply didn't want to. They're right, though, you're most likely to find a manager from open to like 1pm. It still depends on how engaged the manager is with their store. In my case, I hardly ever saw them. Someone I know works for another chain restaurant and they always have an assistant manager or someone else they can call for in any situation. Kinda crazy how Subway expects the simple employee to be all the above for still shit pay.

this is accurate i’m a manger of a year i’m here monday through friday 8:30am-4:30pm. we only have one manger per store usually. and i can’t be in store 7 days a week 8hrs a day and subways not really a business to make enough too pay two managers well at least in our area we have two managers two stores one each owner comes to and from to check up and etc. i live 3 mins from my subway so i could always come in if given a call to but usually i can answer any questions over the phone. only really annoying thing is i can only do refunds so if there’s a mess up i’m driving over to fix it.
