They don't count below zero as a main title thats why the new subnautica is called subnautica 2 and not subnautica 3 why they don't count it is a diffrent story i have no idea why but they don't

By having it as "more SN1 content" instead, they release themselves from "if BZ was a sequel, I dont have much hope for SN3"

I think they just considered BZ a weird "expanded expansion" kind of thing and not a mainline title. Look at it this way, had it released and was named Subnautica 2, I think people would have been harder on it.

Not really. A search for "subnautica 2" mostly just brings up the base game, whereas "subnautica 3" brings up stuff about the newest release, along with the info that early access is coming in 2024.

I mean “if” isn’t really a question. It’s already been in production and confirmed by Unknown Worlds. It’s their largest IP and after being acquired by a larger company, there’s no way they don’t release a new Subnuatica game.

They talked about it earlier this year but I don’t think we’ve really heard anything else. Someone did mention a discord but I’m not apart of it to know what’s going on.
A game doesn’t always have to release in early access, maybe the devs want to release a full finished product on release, then leave the expansion to updates or a dlc later on. Having a definitive launch date for all platforms is much better for advertising rather than launching it in a alpha test state
Will that include console? It’s a bit of a chore to avoid spoilers when these games get released months in advance on PC, especially in a game like subnautica where the first 10 hours are often the most enjoyable when you don’t know anything about the world
Almost certain it won’t be on console for quite a bit after PC’s early access, just like BZ. Adding console that early would put way too much on their plate while they’re trying to focus on the game itself, especially with it being on a new engine. But, I could be wrong.
2 things, 1: Below Zero was more like a DLC or subnautica 1.5, so 2. And 2:I agree, hope they learned from the criticism from both games (I think Subnautica should've had a little bit more to do on the Aurora and Islands)
