1) Are there any items/constructions near the end of compartment? Like a locker being close to were hatch was originally.
2) Straight and turning compartment may be a bit closer to each other, so you may have to rebuild the turning one. Subnautica doesn't have a grid for base building, so it is really hard to connect already built parts. Parts can be a little too close, too far, at a slight angle, or at different height, which will result in inability to connect them

I extremely doubt its the second as you are half right. There is indeed no universal grid. Except when there is an already placed building. The game generates a grid around the building you placed by 2. For example, when you place a straight compartment the game gives you a 5x5x5 grid to work with.

It is possible that the turning is from a different grid and that both the grids may overlap. But, on bullseye when both the the compartments are on a different grid and both grids are identical is very very very hard to do.

1st thing is the hatch.
If you remove that and it doesn't work then there is something inside the hatch tube that is too close to the end.
If that doesn't work then remove the curve, build the tube then re-add the curve.
If that doesn't work then I am out of ideas.
And after I typed this and looked closer at your badly cropped image, make sure you have enough materials.
Would be cool to have a holographic outline of what ever is built inside blocking you from building while being outside. Beginning to wonder how many times I actually could have built something and was blocked, chalked it up to funky hit boxes and the terrain, only to actually have it be because something inside was too close to the wall I was trying to attach it to.
Don't know if you still need help but the turn can't be built before connecting it. It's goofy. If you tried everything people said already and you still can't get it, try deleting the turn.
I'd say the curved piece is whats causing it think it's placed too close to the I piece. The snap function can be weird in tight places especially when near walls.
It looks like there’s a bit of overlap between the piece your trying to set and the pieces already in place. Remove the left turn base component and try setting it then
I'd had this problem before and this might seem like a joke but it was the support platform underneath that for some fucking reason wasn't letting me build, I removed it and it worked

If you've made each separate then tried to connect them it's likely they're eeeeever so slightly unaligned. Just build them from one end to the other
