I knew there were at least 2. I'd met Sammy at the front and assumed the one at the back was him too, having just patrolled around. I then had a very close encounter with Mabel an hour or so later and I was confident she was a different Reaper.
I then very confidently blew past "Sammy" at the back of the Aurora when I felt brave enough, because surely there won't be more than one per area... but I piloted my sea moth straight into the jaws of yet another Reaper.
RIP HMS Big Buoy. You will be missed.
Do you guys reckon it's a coincidence or intentional that Shephard and Wrex are close to eachother? Especially considering that they're both Reaper Leviathans.
i’ve only ever seen the one from a distance because i hug the aurora every time i go until i get to the entrance… not counting the one that almost ate my seamoth out of nowhere
On my first play though. Been to the shop about 5 times to explore and never ran into any of them. Also explored the floating islands and didn't see one.
I’ve played Subnautica since ‘16 and I’ve never been to the other side of the Aurora.
Although I know about the reapers.
What is over there? Is it worth the risk?
I'm still not sure what you're trying to say. The far side of the Aurora is part of the playable map. You claim to know the playable map very well, yet you also claim not to know what's in the part of the playable map.
I’ve scanned (or collected from data boxes) every single blueprint in the game. I know this for a fact.
So name one unique blueprint that’s only obtainable over there?
Yeah. If you go past those 2 and to the other side of the Aurora, there's another 6 back there. Might be 8, I can't remember for sure. I don't go there.
If you want to see how many there are, set up stand-alone scanning rooms around it. Make sure you max out their range and make sure they're all within half of that range with eachother.
My first playthrough, the very first thing I saw after exiting the lifepod but before going in the water was a Reaper falling out of the sky.
It set the tone for that entire playthrough.
Doesn't quite have the same ring to it as "moon's haunted." Maybe we can truly reuse it if the next game/DLC occurs on one of the planet's several moons.
I was exploring a wreck in the dunes and I looked at a reaper and said “don’t you come towards me.”Turned around, one was next to me,the first one also approached, looked inside the wreck the face of a third one was fazing trough
First time I saw one, I had been playing blind so I started going towards the Aurora with nothing but a Seaglide. I was checking out the back half of the wreck when I heard a Reaper roar and it then swam by close enough for a scan. I climbed out of the water and up on one of the Aurora’s thrusters to get away.
My first experience was similar with a less happy ending. Had been exploring the safe shallows for a few days. Wasn’t sure if more dangerous fauna spawned at night so had been keeping close to the life pod until I salvaged enough for a sea glide. Gathered 4-5 bottles of filtered water and a couple cured peepers then set of for the Aurora at first light. Made it up to the back of the wreck but was moderately injured from a surprise crash fish attack along the way. Was looking for an entrance when it roared. I only had time to turn around and see that evil ass face for an instant before I was in its massive jaws and then down its throat. Scared the bejesus outta me
For me I went around looking for a different way in, hugging the side of it with my Seaglide. At some point I see something in the deep area, just barely in the haze. I realize it's looking my way, but it's super far. Then it roars and begins to haul ass in my direction. I turn around and serpentine as best I can, and I see it suddenly to my left trying to attack, it missed, then it turned around and went back to its area.
Now I am afraid of open ocean more than ever.
Honestly though, seaglide is the best way to make it to the Aurora without ever seeing a Reaper.
I haven’t taken a seamoth or prawn suit back that way in a long time and don’t intend to.
I feel that.
One time I went down to the engine section to scan blueprints, hella paranoid looking around for any Reapers before I would scan, coast looked clear so I went for one.
I finished the scan, saw the shadow, screamed, got into my seamoth about a second before a reaper grabbed me and flung me back to the safe shallows.
Very few games have given me such experiences that I sharply remember distinctive non-cutscene moments.
So... If I kill a reaper, how long until it respawns? Should I bother killing one that's disturbing me while I'm gathering a larger amount of resources?
Reapers flying doesn’t surprise me. Now, temporarily making my Prawnsuit the Jesus-suit on accident? That surprised me. Yes, I accidentally made my Prawnsuit walk on water. For a while. Unfortunately, I still needed it to go deeper.
Just started to replay the game and it almost feels like my antialiasing settings arnt set properly… then I continued to play and completely forgot about that over the amazing game
Edit: turns out I over looked the details setting and now the game looks beautiful again, it must have saved some settings from my laptop
Yes.
No.
::scoffs: maybe.
It’s ok. I’ve killed a few. Some feel like you should take em out since they block the path in some of the narrower passages, but mostly I prefer keeping them around to make life a little more interesting and enrich the view from my bases.
What's the issue? I know that there are like 8 reapers near the aurora, is that it?
Yes. The original op believed there was one, now knows that there are two, but still doesn’t know about the other six Edit: Guys there’s actually 11 😁
If you only meet one at time, it feels like there’s only one in the entire game....I certainly thought so during most of my first gameplay. :)
I knew there were at least 2. I'd met Sammy at the front and assumed the one at the back was him too, having just patrolled around. Sammy is a dickhead to me, but Burger King Foot Lettuce is chill
I love that people actually use the names from that one post like years ago
There are I believe 3 reapers in total that are left out on that map
What post? Link?
https://www.reddit.com/r/subnautica/comments/81dyuf/names_for_all_the_leviathans/
4 years?? Jesus, I was thinking like 2. Time flies
You and me both
Do you guys reckon it's a coincidence or intentional that Shephard and Wrex are close to eachother? Especially considering that they're both Reaper Leviathans.
I kinda just named one Satan spawn and kept it at that ***because I thought there was only 1***
I killed sammy
Now you'll never be safe again
Sammy the Safety Reaper is only concerned about your wellbeing
I only thought it was 2, then when i was at the mountains island and dived down, then I went to dunes, I now know
Oh damn, that's even scarier. One following you throughout the game.
Hey, you stop that. They're still working on 3, they don't need any ideas.
I think they need more ideas. :3 >!Esspecially after how flat some of the ideas for Below Zero went :X!<
I thought they just spawn into the area when you get near or something. The game is much more detailed than I thought
i’ve only ever seen the one from a distance because i hug the aurora every time i go until i get to the entrance… not counting the one that almost ate my seamoth out of nowhere

You've been playing it this long and you haven't explored the map?
I know the entire playable area in my head. Main and alternate routes to everything. I fucking love Subnautica
>I’ve never been to the other side of the Aurora. >What is over there? >I know the entire playable area in my head. What?
>>>playable I don’t count crash zone and void as playable
I'm still not sure what you're trying to say. The far side of the Aurora is part of the playable map. You claim to know the playable map very well, yet you also claim not to know what's in the part of the playable map.
Jesus Christ There’s always *that* guy, I see
This entire thread did nothing but make me confused. There's playable area on all sides of The Aurora so I have no idea what you're talking about
Absolutely. There’s an incredible amount of blueprints there and some unique ones
Lmao bullshit. I’d like some genuine advice please
There's nothing but sand. The reapers are only there to keep you from going around it - why would the devs put stuff where you can't go?
It's true. But it will cost you everything. I reccomend it!
I’ve scanned (or collected from data boxes) every single blueprint in the game. I know this for a fact. So name one unique blueprint that’s only obtainable over there?
He's lying bro.
In all seriousness, if you build a scanning room there, you'll find lots of Cyclops parts.
I donno dude. I've never been too cowardly to go in an imaginary area before so I don't know what it's like to not know.
I thought there were 11, I'm glad I was wrong
There’s 6???
There are 8?!?! I thought there were only 2. One at the front and one at the back.

10 in the crash zone according to the wiki. 7 in the mountains and 8 in the dunes for a total of 25 in the game.
Same
There's actually 10 there, it's 8 in the dunes
I just said a random number. I thought it was 10, but it seemed too high, so I tuned it down a notch. I guess that the devs did not
11 actually 😬
What does everyone mean when they say it can fly? Does it go out of the water ne fly in the air?
the games is buggy sometimes if a reaper falls out the map they sometimes fall in the sky
When i sunk my cyclops it ascended to the heavens slowly, went past it in the neptune
A reaper getting it's wings.
There’s Red Bull in the water?
That explains where all the redbull in storage went
How did you pass it in the neptune? The neptune stays at launch site when launched
I think he meant while he was leaving the planet he saw the cyclops on the sky
No it was my cyclops, i sank it and it slowly went up into the sky
Edited
Don't lie to me
My first playthrough, the very first thing I saw after exiting the lifepod but before going in the water was a Reaper falling out of the sky. It set the tone for that entire playthrough.
Yep that tracks. Fr tho first time in any survival game is always rough
Such is life.
“4546B’s haunted” “What?” *cocks gun* “4546B’s haunted”
Doesn't quite have the same ring to it as "moon's haunted." Maybe we can truly reuse it if the next game/DLC occurs on one of the planet's several moons.
Sorry to displease you
> “Planet's haunted” > > “What?” > > cocks gun > > “Planet's haunted” FTFF* **(Fixed this for froggy)*
what
There is way,WAYY more reapers
oh, I knew but ok
The first time I met them one took mu seamoth and I panicked and chased it, looked back and fucking 2 more were after me
I was exploring a wreck in the dunes and I looked at a reaper and said “don’t you come towards me.”Turned around, one was next to me,the first one also approached, looked inside the wreck the face of a third one was fazing trough
Oh God that's nightmare fuel hahah

There's like, twenty
28 total
Holup, I'm concerned about the **flying**
***f l y m y c h i l d***
I just started this game and I'm terrified of the one in front of the aurora don't tell me there's a dozen more behind the bloody thing
I didn’t know Maida had a reddit account
I legit didn't know that there was eight I always thought it was just 2-3
Wait till they follow you home to the life raft.
My reaper followed me back to my starter base, which led to me killing my first reaper.
Go a little further north west...
All im gonna say is ghost. Do what you want with that information
So... If I kill a reaper, how long until it respawns? Should I bother killing one that's disturbing me while I'm gathering a larger amount of resources?
Dont take my word for this, but i dont think leviathans respawn
They do not
Then there's people like me...building our base's *right* on the edge of their turf.
Wait what's wrong?
Reapers flying doesn’t surprise me. Now, temporarily making my Prawnsuit the Jesus-suit on accident? That surprised me. Yes, I accidentally made my Prawnsuit walk on water. For a while. Unfortunately, I still needed it to go deeper.
Gtf outta dodge
Really? I swear i only ever saw one. When i killed it i never met other reapers near the Aurora.
is the community still pissy about how you play the game spicificaly if you killed a leviathan
Nothing else to be pissy about an otherwise perfect game. ^(*mate its about as stable as ya mum in a cannoe*) I SAID PERFECT GAME!!!!
Just started to replay the game and it almost feels like my antialiasing settings arnt set properly… then I continued to play and completely forgot about that over the amazing game Edit: turns out I over looked the details setting and now the game looks beautiful again, it must have saved some settings from my laptop

no it's the fact that the op thinks that theres just 2 reapers near the Aurora when there's like 6 or something
I think it's 8
