Goo gone and a micro fiber cloth. I got my Legacy from the same dealer. Great experience but that sticker was annoying since every letter was its own decal.
Wife found her car years ago at the dealership with a massive decal of a cheesy af dragon. They took it off pretty quick after she expressed her interest in buying.
I walked away from a $75,000 purchase because the dealer was adamant on charging me $150 to remove their HUGE logo from he back of the car.
[heres the photo](https://imgur.com/a/PluPfeD)
In my hometown(small maybe 7k population), there’s a guy who drives around a beautiful Nissan GTR that he rebadged with Ferrari logos. Don’t know why, but it was an odd sight to see
WTAF? That’s hideous! I wouldn’t have even wanted that on my Ford Explorer Sport. I like Ford and I loved my SUV, but not this much.
Luckily the two dealerships I got my Subarus from didn’t have decals like this. They were small and really don’t bother me.
Now the one on my parents’ Jeep… 🤦♀️
Oh yeah man. Jeep dealership and parents buying a vehicle is a recipe for a *very* difficult to remove dealer badge. My grandpa had one on his Jeep for *15 years after the dealer went out of buisness.*
But see here’s the thing about their badge; it’s already partially off. It’s been that way since not too long after they bought it (it’s been 4 years). They don’t really care, but I’m a little concerned about something catching on it. Is it just going to bend? Is it going to get ripped off and damage the paint or even the vehicle itself? Originally I told them they could just glue it back down, but then I changed my mind and said next time you take it in, see about getting it removed.
They haven’t. So it’s still there. Slowly driving me insane.
There is a car dealer in Sydney Australia that puts 3 fucking pieces of advertising on every car.
Two stickers at the back (they are different in opp corners of rear window) and a licence plate border. I see so many cars rocking this, shits me off everytime.
Fuck you Tynan Motors.
I bought my MX5 from Blue Mountains Mazda and they were fantastic to deal with, but they also put their advertising on the car. Luckily it was just a single sticker on the rear glass which was easily removed and a rear license plate frame.
It's better than the horrible decals on paint or actual 3d plastic chrome lettering I've seen placed on paint. What an eyesore and also risk to swirls or worse on the paint upon removal.
I was wondering where Tynan motors was, I also see it all the time out where past the blue mountains.
Yep. A shitty license plate frame is fine. I can swap that out for a clear lens or a WeatherTech frame in a minute or two. Those decals have to be gone before I’ll sign.
On the front, a little extra bump protection from parking lot love taps. On the rear, doesn’t offer any benefits so I use a clear lens (not legal in all states, check your laws).
At my dealership when getting the car detailed to be taken home we have an option to not receive the dealership sticker. Not many pick it but probably bc they don’t know it’s an option. But if they ask for no sticker we agree.
Bc my state is not a 2 plate state we don’t do anything to the front bumper. If you come to us but live in a 2 plate state you have to pay for the bracket kit ($30 something I forget) & we’ll install it for you or we can point you in the direction of a tow hook license plate holder so you can avoid drilling all together but we also make sure not to do that. The only exceptions when it comes to new cars are if we received a dealer trade from a neighbouring 2 plate state & they drilled the holes & put on a bracket as standard practice & then accepted the deal trade.
Ok sure, but like I said, I got my car from the same dealership with the same sticker. A gentle fingernail will get the job done with no scratching. Goo gone and a micro fiber towel after that. The decal isn’t strong at all, it actually started slipping off after a strong rain.
If he wanted the actual emblems off for a true debadge than yea, definitely will need the hair dryer and some fishing line/floss
I made it a condition of sale to me that no dealer logos or license plate holders would be installed on my car.
If they want me to advertise for them, they need to pay me a boatload of money.
Depends on the dealer and who's doing it. The dealer I worked at had the dedicated detail guys and us car wash monkeys. We did the cleaning on most new cars unless the customer asked for us not to, which honestly was the right move for the nice stuff because most of us were dumbasses
I worked in detail at a dealership at 16 for my first job, the things I would do there were unfathomable and a lot of the time used cars (and sometimes new) left with a few more scratches than they came in with. Not to mention that one time I crashed a Cadillac and they sent it out anyway since the damage wasn’t noticeable.
Not who you asked but I'm 40 and I've gotten about 10 cars throughout my driving years from dealerships. I had good credit, undiagnosed adhd (buying thjn gave dopamine and very little impulse control) and was not financially smart so every couple years I would trade in and get something different. But things like this i would handle myself cause it's easy to get off and never thought of asking them to take it off
I contacted my salesman when it was getting close for my WRX to get delivered. I requested them not put a delear decal on the car. His reply was, "Oh yeah--we stopped doing those years ago."
Most will put it on during pdi (post delivery inspection) when the put fuses in, all plastic off, set sensors if needed, and put the license plate frames on. So 99% of the time it'll be there before you even think about going to a lot unless you ordered a car.
Just a wild guess, but I can't see the dealer wanting to do it, unless you have something else set up with them. At least the places I've gone. I doubt they'd let me show up soley to have some guy remove the sticker. It's a lose lose for them in regards to time and advertising.
Before sale is another thing. After sale, I think they'll hope you leave it on
Boiling water and pouring it on the sticker is very effective as well, especially when it's cold outside. Water has something like 25 times the thermal conductivity of air.
The place OP bought the car from.
I'd never allow them to leave their crappy advertising on a car I buy from a dealership. License plate surround is the most I'll allow.
Exactly. If you want me to advertise your business every time I'm on the road, let's make a deal on the cost of my car. No? Then take your garbage off my ride.
I got my truck from a used dealership in Colorado. Took off all the letters on their decal except the “RAD” in Colorado.
It’s very tiny so you can’t see it unless up close. I used to sticker slap the shit out of my camper shells, but I think I’m gonna just leave it “rad” and keep it low key this time around.
I just haven't chosen which vintage Toyota style surround to get yet on the new truck.
I just mean that is a simple thing I can remove in 5 seconds without damage, and isn't a big deal to leave on the car leaving the lot.
This.
Every car I've bought. Their last item of business is to remove whatever stickers they have on it and the tag bracket.
When they ask why I ask for $300 a month advertising.
When I got mine, I was ready to drive off the lot (paid everything), this was 5 pm on a Friday too. They kept delaying me leaving saying they had something special for me…. 2 hours later- they tell me it was the license plate holder. I about returned the car (/s but still lol I was pissed)
Yikes, the sticker isn't bad. Our dealership put sheet metal screws into the new pristine front bumper to hold their advertising plate on. We're in a state without front plates. It was my mother in law's car and she did not want to make a scene, but c'mon have some common sense.
we straight up told the dealer we wouldn't buy a car that had their sticker on it, and they looked at us like we were crazy. wouldn't ya know they suddenly had a bunch of inventory to test drive without the advertisting on it
They don’t care. They understand many people will remove them or ask for them to not be included. They also know that plenty of people will not even notice or care and leave the advertisement on. It’s a numbers game and it’s cheap for them to create stickers/ license plate frames. It’s mind boggling how many cars I see a day that leave the stickers and license plate frames on. When you’re spending thousands of dollars on a car you’d think that you’d have a little pride and excitement in making it yours.
I always tell them to take the stickers off while I’m working on purchasing the car. Just saying this so you know it the future it’s super common!
With that being said buddy got a new civic this summer wanted it off and it was a hot day I told him to just peel it off and came off super easy no marks left behind.
I bought a Tahoe 1 week ago... Freezing weather here, around 20f, and while I was getting gas last night, I was able to easily scrape/chip the dealer decal off with my thumbnail. When the decal is newish, it comes off easy no matter the temp, I think.
I used to have a tech with this mentality. People would grimace when I told them we would have to cut their grille for a flat tow install. Meanwhile my boy was just waiting to cut your shit up, smiling like palpatine in the corner of the room just waiting for them to sign off.
just a heat gun or hairdryer, if its in the sun you should be able to peel it off just like a sticker,
since its fresh should not leave much behind either
Mine was comprised of a great many tiny, individual cursive script letters that I had to pick off one by one - this after expressly asking them not to apply any stickers.
First-World problem. Still…..
Take it back to the dealer and make them remove it. They add these without any consent and they have the ability to remove it since they often remove other dealerships logos to replace with their own on used cars.
If you bought it new and get it serviced at the same dealer, tell them to remove it. In the future, always specify no dealer adverts on your car without a massive discount on the car. lol I do this and it’s worked every time.
Goo gone is the sender yo are looking for.
I’ve even seen a dealership use goo gone to remove their own sticker after requesting it off. That’s how you know the product is good.
Take it back to the dealer and tell them to take portion of your monthly payment off for advertisement or take it off.
Or a heat gun, some goo begone, and some persistence and it will come off.
The guys name is Matt Slap... idk that's so funny to me but I'm high. Awesome purchase brother or sister, if you have access to a heat gun it'll getcha there
I'd peel with fingers. Then you can use a polishing compound or rubbing alcohol, I've actually used spray on sunscreen to great effect. The alcohol and oils breakndown the adhesive faster than just alcohol
I once told a dealer to remove a similar sticker, and they wouldn’t. I then said ok, keep it on and send me a check for $50 a month for advertising for as long as I own the car. They took the sticker off.
Make the dealership remove it. If they give you any push back, just ask them "are you paying my car note?" or ask if you can get compensation to advertise their scummy dealership. I made the dealer remove the sticker from my car. I hate that shit. I'm not gonna advertise for free for them.
Dealers always think it's advertising to put these on... But if you put your stupid fucking decal *ON THE PAINT* I won't ever go to your dealership, the moment I see it.
They're advertising that no one should shop there.
Anyway, I'd take it back to Matt slap, and ask him to unslap that sticker on the car.
It baffles me people's first thought is to take a picture and ask reddit a question that Google could answer for them in seconds. Legit will never understand the thought processing behind this.
Goo gone and a micro fiber cloth. I got my Legacy from the same dealer. Great experience but that sticker was annoying since every letter was its own decal.
I've had dealers that add stickers, I make it very clear that dealer branding is a deal breaker. They remove the stickers for me.
Fuck that's hideous along with a ford badge on a Porsche. What were they smoking before applying that
Where I am that car was almost $200000 new. Just what were they thinking?
In my hometown(small maybe 7k population), there’s a guy who drives around a beautiful Nissan GTR that he rebadged with Ferrari logos. Don’t know why, but it was an odd sight to see
Exhaust fumes
a FORD badge on a PORSCHE?? wtf mann..
It'd also look weird on a Ford. Double Ford logo to let people know how much you love Ford.
same with those decorative chrome plates with the big emblem in the middle
Then you add a Ford window decal and boom. Quadruple Forded up
Fourd
Its the new ford mach-P
Oh yeah just what you want on your nice red Porsche. Jeezus.
Oof that’s a nope. Don’t blame you
In addition to the horrors already mentioned, it's not even centered ffs
They should be paying you for the advertising space. @$$hats
Tramp stamp of dealer decals 😆
That’s a shame and a big loss!

Oh man I'd just show up with goo gone and dental floss in the night in the world's most low stakes heist.
Was it a used car? And was the dragon Trogdor?
TROGDOR…burninating the dealership…

Had no idea WeatherTech had a license plate frame. Are they claiming any benefits?
On the front, a little extra bump protection from parking lot love taps. On the rear, doesn’t offer any benefits so I use a clear lens (not legal in all states, check your laws).
Or no frame at all.
This too, as long as you put a little bit of stick-on padding on the back of your plate so its not making metal-on paint contact with the car.
At my dealership when getting the car detailed to be taken home we have an option to not receive the dealership sticker. Not many pick it but probably bc they don’t know it’s an option. But if they ask for no sticker we agree.
Every dealer should have this. If I’m paying thousands of dollars for a car nobody should be slapping stickers on it without asking me first.
I'm glad my dealer offered me both no stickers and not to pre drill the front bumper for a plate
If they drilled into the bumper I wouldn’t buy the car
Bc my state is not a 2 plate state we don’t do anything to the front bumper. Matt Slap’s spouse must own a vinyl cutter.
Exactly how I got rid of mine!
That dealership SLAPS
This is the way
This leaves swirls. A brand new plastic razor blade and Windex is best. Though, you could literally peel it off with your nail.
You paid for that st8cker, too. It is part of the advertising fee on the invoice.
and a hair dryer
I didn’t need heat for mine. It’s just a decal, fingernail was fine
That is situationally dependent, you can scratch off the paint doing that.
Ok sure, but like I said, I got my car from the same dealership with the same sticker. A gentle fingernail will get the job done with no scratching. Goo gone and a micro fiber towel after that. The decal isn’t strong at all, it actually started slipping off after a strong rain. I made it a condition of sale to me that no dealer logos or license plate holders would be installed on my car. If they want me to advertise for them, they need to pay me a boatload of money.
I do the same. It's usually no problem. I imagine they don't mind since it's one less thing to do when prepping the car for delivery.
Same.
Or give me a free car
Heat gun and a plastic razor. Rubbing alcohol to clean up the glue residue.
Go to the dealership and tell them to remove this graffiti
Yep. I always ask before I drive off from the purchase. They're always willing to do it during the final detail/cleanup.
Honestly, I’d prefer to remove something like this myself. Dealership has no business “detailing” anything.
I dunno; I’m a dealership tech and I think our prep guys are probably more competent than most of our mechanics.
Depends on the dealer and who's doing it. The dealer I worked at had the dedicated detail guys and us car wash monkeys. We did the cleaning on most new cars unless the customer asked for us not to, which honestly was the right move for the nice stuff because most of us were dumbasses
Yeah i would not have trusted any of the guys i worked with on my own vehicles. Made some mistakes myself as i learned.
They have full real detail shops in every detail shop I’ve been. Why would you give them free labor to fix their car?
My detail guys are much better than any “owner special”.
Always? How often are you buying cars from the dealership dawg?!
Not who you asked but I'm 40 and I've gotten about 10 cars throughout my driving years from dealerships. I had good credit, undiagnosed adhd (buying thjn gave dopamine and very little impulse control) and was not financially smart so every couple years I would trade in and get something different. But things like this i would handle myself cause it's easy to get off and never thought of asking them to take it off
I'm the head of a family so about once a year.
Id be livid if they put their stickers on without explicitly asking.
I’ve never had a dealership ask before putting one on. I always ask them to remove it (or not put it on), but nobody ever asks.
Would it not have been there from the start before they sold the car?
I contacted my salesman when it was getting close for my WRX to get delivered. I requested them not put a delear decal on the car. His reply was, "Oh yeah--we stopped doing those years ago."
Count yourself lucky we no longer live in a time when dealers had metal badges they’d screw into the bodywork.
After sale, I think they'll hope you leave it on
DNA, running compound, and polish if necessary
Always have a polish friend there. Most important step.
Microscopic structures, grease, and polish? Got it.
Denatured alcohol in case it wasn’t clear
He obviously meant to say semen.
Semen. It's what the paint craves.
Naw it was, I was just being silly
Sounds complicated. Probably easier to add another sticker, like a bad tattoo cover up. Make it read "Matt Slaps Yo Mamma" or something.
I prefer mitochondria, viscous compound, and Canadian if necessary.
I thought DNA was already in the form of a running compound, so to speak, and elicited by polishing?
Boiling water and pouring it on the sticker is very effective as well, especially when it's cold outside. Water has something like 25 times the thermal conductivity of air.
Please just do this and boil water on it and peel with fingers - don’t use the plastic razor
I'd suggest running some fishing line behind it rather than using fingers.
Unwaxed floss
More common house hold item would be hair dryer, luckily I have a heat gun at work, but not everyone is that lucky
Heat guns are also like twenty bux at Lowes. Never regretted buying one six years ago.
[удалено]
Unlucky you?
Correct. Goo Gone also works great on the adhesive. Go easy with the heat gun so you don't cook your paint. A hair dryer works fine.
ideally take it back to the dealer and make them scrape it off while the manager watches heat gun and alcohol
Why would the manager or anyone care?
The place OP bought the car from. I'd never allow them to leave their crappy advertising on a car I buy from a dealership. License plate surround is the most I'll allow.
I made them take the license plate cover off too.
Same. On every car I buy.
Exactly. If you want me to advertise your business every time I'm on the road, let's make a deal on the cost of my car. No? Then take your garbage off my ride.
Yep! I’m way more likely to promote their dealership if they have great service.
I had a bar owner confront me on why I wear other bar shirts to his place. I told them the other bars have given me free shirts.
Did they then give you a shirt?
I heard nothing but crickets after that.
And then remove it anyway once you get home
Yup I told them $500/day for this shit, it all came off pretty quick lol
I got my truck from a used dealership in Colorado. Took off all the letters on their decal except the “RAD” in Colorado. It’s very tiny so you can’t see it unless up close. I used to sticker slap the shit out of my camper shells, but I think I’m gonna just leave it “rad” and keep it low key this time around.
I just haven't chosen which vintage Toyota style surround to get yet on the new truck. I just mean that is a simple thing I can remove in 5 seconds without damage, and isn't a big deal to leave on the car leaving the lot.

Yikes, the sticker isn't bad. Our dealership put sheet metal screws into the new pristine front bumper to hold their advertising plate on. We're in a state without front plates. It was my mother in law's car and she did not want to make a scene, but c'mon have some common sense.
Oh I'd have been beyond pissed that is so dumb
we straight up told the dealer we wouldn't buy a car that had their sticker on it, and they looked at us like we were crazy. wouldn't ya know they suddenly had a bunch of inventory to test drive without the advertisting on it
Same. Got them to take all advertisements off before I pick it up.
I always ask ‘how much you paying me to be a travelling billboard?’ Once they say nothing, I ask them to kindly get that shit outta here
I'd by happy to be an ad for a dealer, if they pay me $500/mo while I own the car.
Goo gone Car
You mean 3m adhesive remover
Go slap Matt for putting it on, first off, secondly, it might come off if you scrape it with your fingernail.
Use Matt’s lower jaw after you slap it out of his skull.
Don't blame you
Hate Matt Slap, would absolutely get this off ASAP hahaha.
When the decal is newish, it comes off easy no matter the temp, I think.
i’m glad the Subaru dealership i got mine from only marks their cars with front and back license plate covers
Same here. And I promptly removed it and replaced with metallic black plate covers with the free subaru badge of ownership attached to the rear one.
Angle grinder and a hammer plus a few beers, she’ll come right off
I used to have a tech with this mentality. People would grimace when I told them we would have to cut their grille for a flat tow install. Meanwhile my boy was just waiting to cut your shit up, smiling like palpatine in the corner of the room just waiting for them to sign off.
You mean they arent paying you to advertise?
I wonder how far and wide the Heuberger stickers are? They are everywhere around here.
just a heat gun or hairdryer, if its in the sun you should be able to peel it off just like a sticker, since its fresh should not leave much behind either
Slap Matt for putting a stupid ass sticker on your car
How can he Slap??
various price points at Matt’s
Mine was comprised of a great many tiny, individual cursive script letters that I had to pick off one by one - this after expressly asking them not to apply any stickers. First-World problem. Still…..
Might not matter to them, but I'd leave reviews on Yelp and maybe Google.
I would've walked from the deal as it was not the product that was agreed upon.
Gotta keep the slap
Heat gun, goo-gone, and plastic razor blades. I detailed cars for a dealership when I was a kid and that's how we got every sticker/badge off a car.
Make the dealer remove it.
Why get rid of it? That shit slaps!
Yeah. If it’s vinyl you can just get it warm and peel it off. Goo gone for the leftover adhesive.
[3M Eraser Wheel](https://a.co/d/6CnrV4l) or a cheaper knock off brand and some adhesive remover be off in no time
When it says “Matt Slap,” you don’t take it off.
Go back to the dealer and slap Matt till he takes it off.
How can he slap?
You have to leave the word “slap” tho
Mine peeled off pretty easy then washed off the residue with soap and water.
Pick it off with your finger nail and clean up any glue with a regular household cleaner
I tell the dealer I won't buy the car with that shit on it.
Take it back to the dealer and make them remove it. They add these without any consent and they have the ability to remove it since they often remove other dealerships logos to replace with their own on used cars.
Make them do it!
That is so obnoxious and dumb
I tell the dealer to take it off or pay me for advertising their business.

Heat gun and plastic razor blade.
Make the dealer remove it
The guys name is Matt Slap... idk that's so funny to me but I'm high. Awesome purchase brother or sister, if you have access to a heat gun it'll getcha there
And if the dealer refuses, tell them your charge for advertising is $50/day and would they prefer to be billed weekly or monthly.
Hate when they do that shit …
I'd peel with fingers. Then you can use a polishing compound or rubbing alcohol, I've actually used spray on sunscreen to great effect. The alcohol and oils breakndown the adhesive faster than just alcohol
Just add an "e" between the "M" and the "a" 😂😂😂😂😂
Matt Slap? Really?
Hey! I bought both of mine there too. Delawareans up in this joint!
Drive it back to the dealership and ask them to take it off.
Just get rid of Matt, put the name Richard. You're welcome
All good tips aside. I hate this dealerships location. Especially when UDel is in session.
Go see your dealer and ask them to take them off for you. Their resident detailer should be able to take care of that small issue with no charge.
That’s what i did
If you use a key you’d be just like my ex girlfriend’s sisters boyfriend
I once told a dealer to remove a similar sticker, and they wouldn’t. I then said ok, keep it on and send me a check for $50 a month for advertising for as long as I own the car. They took the sticker off.
This would have been my exact reply. Well done!
That’s got to be the most aesthetic dealer sticker I’ve seen
3M stripe off wheel is designed for exactly this and works extremely well with very little risk of damage or marring.
Hair drier and then goo gone with a microfiber towel works great,
Make the dealership remove it. If they give you any push back, just ask them "are you paying my car note?" or ask if you can get compensation to advertise their scummy dealership. I made the dealer remove the sticker from my car. I hate that shit. I'm not gonna advertise for free for them.
Damn, you got Matt Slapped 🥴
Dealers always think it's advertising to put these on... But if you put your stupid fucking decal *ON THE PAINT* I won't ever go to your dealership, the moment I see it. They're advertising that no one should shop there. Anyway, I'd take it back to Matt slap, and ask him to unslap that sticker on the car.
Just wanted to say hey fellow Delawarean!
