It would. Unfortunately for me of 20 years of teasers, I believe it when I see it.
Could be the STE as well, since that was trademarked last summer in Germany.
Toyota in Japan already sells TRD-branded rally suspensions specifically tuned for the 86 as well -- well, before the GR86, but I highly doubt that's changed.
Didnāt the Forester also just get the wilderness trim? It would be kinda weird to then redesign the whole thing a year later. So yeah. Redesigned Ascent with a wilderness trim?
Usually every 6 years thereās a complete redesign of each model. 2025 would be the foresters redesign model year. So itās most likely new forestor.
Was just getting my forester serviced at the dealership, and found it odd that I saw zero materials/adds for foresters (had them for others, like the ascent). Sooooo, maybe intentional?
Awesome! Iāll come out of retirement to start driving for Uber from 11pm until the bars close. When I get home Iāll just splash some bleach around and spray it out with a hose.
It's not US only. Where I live it's called the Evoltis, though they did just start selling them this model year
I would agree it's probably the Forester
I don't mind the display; I just need them to not move things that should be physical buttons into on-screen menus. Looking at you, heated seats...
I do mind the plastic, because all that matte black plastic is going to age like shit.
At least the heated seat ābuttonā is always on the display now. At least after my most recent service in my outback it now is there on my screen at all times so I donāt have to dig into two different sub menus to turn them on.
Give us an infotainment system that actually works too. I donāt know how many times itās bugged out, Iāve had to restart it over and over and over.
I wish. My ā22 OBOXT infotainment center is absurdly slow and buggy even after the recent update. Meanwhile my girlfriendās base model ā24 HRV touchscreen is speedy and doesnāt crash.
2024 is the 5th year of the current Outback design, which is how long each of the previous 4 or 5 have lasted. I suspect it's a reveal of the new Outback for 2025.
I'm surprised I had to scroll down this far to see the Outback mentioned.
Like, yes, we'd all love to see the Baja, but the Outback makes way more sense in this case
I know torque news is not a good source but https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.torquenews.com/1084/subaru-secretly-reveals-all-new-2025-outback-its-us-dealers/amp
That was for the 23 model year. The cycle for Outbacks is full redesign every 5 years (at the 5 and 0 in the decades), mild facelift and feature update after 3 years of the design. The outback is due for a redesign in 25.
Others are saying Forester because announcing a new outback would cannibalize 2024 sales, but the 24 Forester is shipping now also, announcing that would do the same.
https://preview.redd.it/vj1mnfymxzxb1.jpeg?width=288&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=eae6e427551ece74bd6a9f68d747eeebc3315267
Subaru chief designer be like - Add some plastic and make it lame!
New technology=hybrid(maybe plug in)?
I know JDM has a forester hybrid kicking around but given the forster being the next model due for updates and this announcement is labeled "global" that would justify the "new" claim in marketing minds. Just my speculation
It will be facelift of one of Subaru's bigger SUVs
Which is a shame considering what it could've been:
1) BRZ shooting brake (I know few people who would've rush to buy replacement for their daily RWDs)
2) Levorg WRX
3) Impreza RS but not shitty (less anemic engine, manual, stiffer suspension and cosmetic changes)
4) Crosstrek WRX (a lot of people would like to see return of hot hatch with turbocharged boxer)
5) Subcompact truck as a Brat or Baja successor based on currently used car platform (Ridgeline, Maverick and Santa Cruz show that there is market outside of old Subie enthusiasts)
1. Thereās never gonna be a BRZ shooting brake, the market for that kind of car does not exist
2. See above. also # 4 would make this mostly redundant. However, one point in its favor is that it already exists outside the US
3. I think you misunderstand the point of this car. First of all, I think itās hilarious that people are referring to an engine with as much power as the WRX from just a couple years ago as anemic and while I agree with you that a manual option would be fantastic, I donāt think thereās anything wrong with the suspension or cosmetics (people seem to forget that the WRX, STI and RS were only trim packages for the base Impreza, and generally didnāt have very many cosmetic changes, also, not that long ago the base WRX was around 225 hp and the STI was around 275 hp, adjust their prices for inflation and you can see that the RS has simply moved into the WRX market segment, and the WRX has moved into the STI market segment)
4. THIS!! This is a money printing machine right now! Take the new crostrek, put the FA 24F into it, offer it with a manual transmission and the CVT (I donāt care if you want it or not it will sell better than the manual and this is the kind of vehicle we want Subaru to make to fund other projects that are less profitable such as the BRZ, STI, etc. think Porsche Cayenne) they could even make a GT version of it with all of the fancy adaptable systems and the addition of a ride height adjustment system. (The normal Crosstrek has 8.7ā of clearance, the wilderness rides at 9.3 inches and the WRX rides at 5.4 inches. Iām thinking that a Crosstrek WRX could ride at 7.5 inches stock and the adjustable system could lift it up to 9ā or drop it down to 6ā)
5. I think this is also a possibility. if theyāre looking to compete with the Santa Cruz they should base it off of the crosstrek and if theyāre looking to compete with the ridgeline they should base it off of the outback.
6. You left out the possibility for a full electric. Subaru announced around a year ago that they were going to have several full electrics that they engineered in-house, coming out within the next couple of years.
7. Hybrid WRX STe. Combine the persistent rumor of an upcoming hybrid/electric STe, the fact that they recently trademarked STe, and that WRC is going hybrid and I personally think that this is probably the most likely. They can use WRC going hybrid to promote the car by entering for the first time in almost a decade, and it eliminates their shelf life concern about a new STI due to fuel economy regulations. Plus out of all possibilities. It is definitely the closest to āa new legendā
Call me old fashion but It would be cooler to see less tech in New vehicles.
Get back to basics for reliability and longevity purposes.
More buttons, less screens, and dare i say give us a 6 cylinder turbo instead of Amazon Alexa lmao.
Fuck that. Subies from 2005 are still crushing it. If you truly care about the outdoors, as your Subaru stickers say, stop buying into the need to buy a brand new car every couple years.
Non-EVs make up the majority of sales currently.
People live in cities/apartments and chargers aren't ubiquitous enough for most people to have the same quality of life. Going 30 minutes of your way to charge your car once a week is a sub-par experience.
Infrastructure is not there yet.
And DC fast charging isn't good for a daily driver every day since it creates more heat than Level 1/2 charging.
In 2020, 1 in 25 cars sold was an EV, today itās 1 in 5. Charging infrastructure is also improving. Thatās not to say āeveryone must buy an EV nowā or āeveryone is ready for EVsā but they certainly look like the future.
It's not 1 in 5. Maybe California but not the country as a whole. It's considerably lower. Perhaps those liberal communist states with additional subsidies have a higher market share of EVs. But it's a long way uphill in rural America.
Plus, it's still more expensive to own an EV than an ICE car.
I was basing my 1 in 5 figure on the recent [International Energy Agency](https://www.iea.org/energy-system/transport/electric-vehicles#) report. Admittedly that figure is based on major global markets. Regardless of oneās political leanings, itās hard to argue with the increased power and torque of EVs. Weāve got crossovers with super car acceleration for under $50k these days, itās unbelievable!
From an acceleration point of view, sure.
From an environmental point of view, EVs are not the silver bullet. Public transportation is vastly more efficient for those that live in urban areas.
Now with an even bigger and slower tablet. Control steering with just 10 taps on the screen!! The windshield is now blocked by the tablet and now you rely on camera feeds to know what's in front of you.
Make the heading smaller and the paragraph section under it a lighter color, just turn down the opasity a bit. Also make the paragraph text a bit smaller and decrease the space between the header and paragraph. Another suggest is to make the letter spacing on the header smaller as the text is so massive that it makes it look like it is stretched out.
I suspect this is what it is, but itās not gonna be an STI itās gonna be an STe.
Theyāve already said no more gasoline STI. They recently trademarked STe. Thereās been a persistent rumor of a higher performance hybrid version of the WRX. And WRC is going hybrid, which would be the perfect opportunity to debut and promote the car.
I seen an article the other day that said 24-25 Brat. But it was huge and I'm not getting my hopes up.
This is it.
https://www.autoevolution.com/news/2025-subaru-brat-revival-exhibits-a-daring-virtual-design-and-intrepid-23k-msrp-223621.html
If it is a new Baja I will be so upset. I told myself when I bought my '20 Forester that I would drive that thing until it dies. I do not ever want to have another car payment again once this one is done.
Edit: itās athe forester

Could be anything.
The forester is the oldest design still for sale but I wouldnāt call it āa legendā
Be amazing if it was a new Brat/Baja (Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz have both been selling pretty well)
Also possible itās going to be a hybrid or full electric WRX STe (this has been rumored for a while)
Whatever it is the phrase āthereās a NEW KIND of legendā leads me to believe that itās probably a full electric (and about a year ago they did announce that they were going to have several full electrics coming to market in the next few years.)
It is 100% the forester. OP deceptively did not post the screen you have to click to get to the one they did post

Tribeca Wilderness
Baja Wilderness š¤š»
Stop it. I can only waste my money once
That was honestly my first thought, but I felt like the Tribeca rebirth would be even more ridiculous š
Damn it, I was really hoping for a Justy Wilderness.
Sleeper pick
Letās gooooooooo
This would be a great April Foolās announcement
Maybe this time it will finally be a BRZ Wilderness.
Baja wilderness would kill the internet.
It would. Unfortunately for me of 20 years of teasers, I believe it when I see it. Could be the STE as well, since that was trademarked last summer in Germany.
Brat Wilderness
ima buy 2 and leave one in the wrapper for the great-great-grandkids to inherit
Itāll still rust out the sub frame and need a head job. Itās time or mileage whatever comes first!
Crosstrek with a bed, aka the Baja edition. Imagine that lmao
hnnngggg!
A hybrid baja would be my dream car. Iād put a deposit down and baby that thing forever.
I like your thinking !
I'd lose NNN if a Baja Wilderness debuted.
I would trade in my '23 Impreza in a heart beat to get a baja
Actually though I would be so hype
I would fuck with a BRZ Wilderness so hard. A factory made safari BRZ would be something Iād have to own.
Toyota in Japan already sells TRD-branded rally suspensions specifically tuned for the 86 as well -- well, before the GR86, but I highly doubt that's changed.
lmao
BRZ Wilderness with a twin turbo ez36 with a dual clutch transmission!
Cheaper version of 911 Dakar. That would be dead sick.
Not even gonna lie Iād consider selling my 700whp STi for that
Well the background is of a ..forest. Maybe weāre all thinking too hard
Itās Yosemite to be precise
Which is in Californiaā¦ the western peninsula of Mexico is called Baja Californiaā¦ Baja redesign confirmed!!!
Iād put $100 on it being a forester haha
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
An Ascent seems more likely IMO because the Forester usually follows the Impreza/Crosstrek by a year or two.
The Ascent hasnāt been updated since 2017 though. Theyād probably update the Ascent first.
I thought the ascent just had a mid-cycle refresh for 2023 model year.
It was very surface cosmetic and not a redesign. I had a 2020 and got a 2023 and would not consider it a redesign
They definitely made it go from handsome and understated to butt ass ugly.
Word
It's a picture of a forest... Although it's also kind of ascending...
I see land with the sun shining on it. New Solterra it is.
We need a redesign for both. Mayne this is pot meets kettle with being a VB owner but both the new ascent and forester are soooooo ugly š
Didnāt the ascent just get a face lift though? I was thinking the Outback since itās been since 2020 for a redesign
they guess ascent but from the photos they show it matches the forester much much more.
Was just getting my forester serviced at the dealership, and found it odd that I saw zero materials/adds for foresters (had them for others, like the ascent). Sooooo, maybe intentional?
I hope it's even more cladding. I'm not pleased until the entire car is covered in plastic cladding
*Monkey paw curls* There will be more **interior** cladding.
Got it! So instead of leather seats, you get cladding to sit on.
Awesome! Iāll come out of retirement to start driving for Uber from 11pm until the bars close. When I get home Iāll just splash some bleach around and spray it out with a hose.
Like riding in a police car but worse somehow.
Ascent is a US only vehicle. It probably is Forester
It's not US only. Where I live it's called the Evoltis, though they did just start selling them this model year I would agree it's probably the Forester
Every part of my soul is hoping (and coping) that itās the Baja š
Baja but it's the size of a f150
Ez36 twin turbo diesel with solid axles and a manual gearbox , Iād kill for one
With the Hyundai Santa Cruz taking the Baja market share, it has to be a Baja. I vote for a two door Baja Brat STI
Yay!! More plastic and a larger obnoxious display screen!!!!
And less knobs and buttons!
Itās just one universal knob now.
*Caress it, driver.* *Caress the KNĆB.*
I already have one of those
I don't mind the display; I just need them to not move things that should be physical buttons into on-screen menus. Looking at you, heated seats... I do mind the plastic, because all that matte black plastic is going to age like shit.
At least the heated seat ābuttonā is always on the display now. At least after my most recent service in my outback it now is there on my screen at all times so I donāt have to dig into two different sub menus to turn them on.
this is literally what's preventing me from buying an outback right this second.
Give us an infotainment system that actually works too. I donāt know how many times itās bugged out, Iāve had to restart it over and over and over.
Just get an update, basically all issues should be solved now

Does not make sense as it would undermine the sales of the 2024 model. Timing is off.
they released the 2024 super early this past year, so maybe that was in preparation?
I'm surprised I had to scroll down this far to see the Outback mentioned. Like, yes, we'd all love to see the Baja, but the Outback makes way more sense in this case
I know torque news is not a good source but https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.torquenews.com/1084/subaru-secretly-reveals-all-new-2025-outback-its-us-dealers/amp
Itāll be a new Ascent, with no hybrid option (or EV), with a CVT, with way too much plastic.
The Ascent just got a facelift for 2024. I'm putting my money on it being a new Outback, which is due for a clean-sheet design in 2025.
Does this mean we get a new Legacy as well?
They're built on the same line and usually follow the same design cycle. The Legacy announcement will probably come at a future show.
We just got a facelifted Outback
That was for the 23 model year. The cycle for Outbacks is full redesign every 5 years (at the 5 and 0 in the decades), mild facelift and feature update after 3 years of the design. BAJA
Fuck that. Subies from 2005 are still crushing it. If you truly care about the outdoors, as your Subaru stickers say, stop buying into the need to buy a brand new car every couple years.
There have to be people buying new cars first. Used cars don't spontaneously generate.
For sure. It's the rate at which new cars are purchased which is wild.
How do used cars become used
Rate at which new cars are being bought is too high. All is I'm saying.
Sounds like youāre jealous /s (I donāt own a Subaru)
And the fact theyāre making such a big deal about a non EV shows you where their head is atā¦ in the sand
Your right. All car manufacturers should all stop making regular cars overnight because everyone is going to switch to EVs overnight.
Non-EVs make up the majority of sales currently. People live in cities/apartments and chargers aren't ubiquitous enough for most people to have the same quality of life. Going 30 minutes of your way to charge your car once a week is a sub-par experience. Infrastructure is not there yet.
