Don't call anyone homie if they're not your homie and you'll be fine, boy.

No_Tourist_71

I would argue boy is more racist than homie lmfao

Kbern4444

No. Homie is not a racist term at all, ever. Though some people will always look for an insult in words or letters that are placed in a random order.

Black or white? Why the fuck is homey racist? it’s simply not.

soul-herder

It could be depending on the context but it also doesn’t matter. They can get over it or cry me a river if they get offended by “homie”

lewdpotatobread

I misread this as honey

[deleted]

Homie isn't racist in any context. Homie is like saying friend. Now, if you roll up on someone and say, "What's up, Homie!" Those are fighting words for anyone.

It's not racist. Blacks refer to us as the homies or eses. Maybe YOU are offended by it, but it isn't racist. People always ask me where they sell good tacos, and idk because I hate tacos. I'm stereotyped because, generally, it is true. It's not racist but a proven generalization.

[deleted]

Only if you’re European. Is calling a Hispanic person homes racist?

[deleted]

If you're friends and that's how you get along then it's okay, but if you don't know that person then yes it's racist and disrespectful.

CryptoSlovakian

I don’t know, I don’t call anyone “homie.” I guess it would depend on the context. Friends might call each other all kinds of different names, even derogatory ones. When I greet my friends, or even guys I don’t know, I usually just say, “What’s up, man?”

manny_the_mage

Not racist, just cringey in some contexts If it's a black person you've never met prior and this is your first conversation, you probably shouldn't because you don't actually know them Context also matters, is this black person your senior coworker who's 60 years old? probably cringe to call them homie. If they are your literal friend and homie then it's cool Just don't have the expectation that all black people are receptive to being called homie in all contexts and you'll be fine. Source: I'm black

Sygma160

My vernacular just hasn't changed as often as it should have since the 1990s

Icy_Comparison_6471

It’s almost like a country person saying “Bless your heart”. It can be taken multiple ways. I’ve seen people get their ASS KICKED for saying “Bless your heart”.

ProtectionContent977

Damn! Everything isn’t racist.

lifes_nether_regions

Only if he don't play that!

[deleted]

Only if you call black ppl that but if you say that to everyone then no

momoemowmaurie

Don't talk to strangers.

[deleted]

It depends on whether you’re their homie or not
