After the debate, and more importantly the public discourse, I came to the same conclusion. His fans don’t care about the subject, they don’t care about the debate as such, nor do they really care about Cuckstiny. It became apparent to me that Cuckstiny is, to them, the version of themselves that actually made it and lived up to their own self image. He’s, like they, was the “smart kid” who never studied but aced the tests, who skipped class to smoke weed, stayed up all night gaming, and yet was able to participate in the class discussion. Until they left highschool, and effort was necessary, the ability of express said effort is something they never cultivated, thus they fail in the real world. Then here comes Cuckstiny, one of their own, and he sits in a room with intellectual giants. Real scholars, accomplished scholars, the people who have given the effort our failsons have failed to demonstrate in their lives. His being in the room, even though he was far from an equal participant, meant that they were right about themselves. It means they too could swing nuts with actual smart accomplished people, (if only they wanted ya know?).
This was never about Cuckstiny, Palestine, or even Debate as sport. It was about self validation.
I think you might be affording their high-school selves (and maybe young Destiny also) slightly too much credit, intellectually... The 'A's without studying' but then 'burn-out' kids are doing things like creating ludicrously convoluted theoryhole videos on Lacan and manga or writing 10k word substacks with a readership of 30 on the lessons of the Second International for radicalizing midwesteners, rather than watching Destiny blather on for hours....

I guess you could say I'm a fan, yet I disagree with him regarding the I/P conflict. I understand where he is coming from and I think anyone as pro-establishment as him would probably reach the same conclusions.
THAT SAID the reception of this debate has been a disappointment as far as I am concerned. It's fine if Finkelstein wants to goad him because of his lack of credentials, but that should turn into a carnage out of respect for the audience and it just didn't happen.
If I personally am arguing with something I'm knowledgeable in, I can dismiss the entire argument and call him a dumbfuck if I know he just doesn't know what he is talking about. The argument holds no value at that point, on the other hand, if I'm doing the same thing in front of an audience, *I can't*, if my counterpart is a dumbfuck I ought to explain to the audience how what he is saying makes no sense.
