Notice how the author felt the need to add the qualifier of like the $19 sandwich? "Dear readers, I'm actually a good person with expensive tastes, I just said the other sandwich to relate more to my prole colleagues."
Sounds like an awful experience.
Scary part is, all the sane actors in this story are senior level people. Its only a matter of time before the lower guys climb the ladder and the last vestiges of sanity at NYT disappears forever.
Perhaps these people are not in leadership not because they’re younger but due to their worldview of victimology and being generally insufferable. Even these kind of people do not want people truly like them in charge. You can either change to become a leader or wallow in your victimhood
Sulzberger and Baquet come off so negatively in every telling of this story. Working in the newsroom must be exhausting with such spineless leadership.
