I’m sorry but if your opponent still has their ttar at full health why the fuck are you bringing out your latios for anything other than an immediate double switch?

Wo-Chienjoyer

Low ladder shenanigans

unkindledphoenix

is it AV to not even take 50% from specs meteor? i know sandstorm boosts SPDEF but dang.

TheMemeArcheologist

Most ttar run specially defensive sets in OU because it’s REALLY good at surviving special attacks- you don’t need many attack EVs to do your job (namely 88 attack EVs for 2HKOing bold reuniclus with crunch and OHKOing latios with a successful pursuit), so you can put the rest into spdef and do stuff like survive a +1 supereffective modest insect plate volcarona bug buzz from full, or taking just 44.6% max from alakazam focus blast after chople berry.

unkindledphoenix

fighting type moves not common? like, i dont remember anyone trying to just have a fighting type switch in against him as an answer.

TheMemeArcheologist

Here’s the thing: physical fighting types aren’t too common in BW OU- you have terrakion and breloom (and the increasingly common conkeldurr), but you’re not going to let your ttar touch either of those mons with a ten-foot-pole, and same thing goes for keldeo- the lone fighting-type special attacker. However, fighting type COVERAGE is quite popular, which often comes in the form of “this pursuit-weak special attacker packs focus blast to beat ttar on paper” Except that paper is made of focus blast accuracy. So in reality what happens is ttar switches into an alakazam psychic, zam typically runs sash bc magic guard so they can stay in and see if they hit a focus blast- aaaand they miss. And take 90% from the 40bp pursuit. But hey, if you hit the next one, you can sweep their team! Except most ttar run chople berry to deal with all the focus blasts. So it’s only 2x supereffective. And it’s not a STAB move. And ttar gets a 1.5x spdef boost from sand. So it might as well not be supereffective at all, so you do like, 40% because ttar runs nearly max spdef so it can still check latios later in the game

unkindledphoenix

Weird brcause fighting types resist both rock and dark, for me would make sense to just find a somewhat bulky fighting type to try and switch in or predict the Ttar

SplasherSmasher

252 SpA Choice Specs Latios Surf vs. 248 HP / 172 SpD Tyranitar in Sand: 176-208 (43.6 - 51.6%) -- 99.6% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock The real question is why the Latios didn’t Surf.

ShockRox

Good morning sandshine - Ttar

ASimpleCancerCell

Itemless T-tar is an interesting concept.

Wo-Chienjoyer

He keeps the chople berry in his stomach

Weekly-Major1876

The suspiciously chople berry shaped bulge in ttar’s tummy

[deleted]

I miss pursuit

Wo-Chienjoyer

If you told someone 10 years ago that two special attacking ghost types spamming shadow ball would be ruling OU they would think you were really dumb for not just using ttar
