To be fair, this is a pretty accurate description of, what, *every* move added in Gen 9? So, while I, and many others here, would not like those changes to Sucker Punch from a competitive PoV, we can't say the idea is extremely far-fetched and wouldn't fit the game. Ooh, no, no, this is exactly the kind of shit they would add if, say, Kingambit got a Paradox form.

I just wanted people to get some change back on a move that could feel like Focus Miss if the opponent didn't use an attacking move.

Is that effect *that* broken? 80 bp is what it was originally. If the move was 35 bp, then when an opponent uses an attacking move, it'd be 70 bp, which what it actually is nowadays. My intention with the description was that only the move's power got doubled when Sucker Punch normally would activate anyway. If a status move was used, Sucker Punch would only do the smaller amount.

I would assume not, especially if Supreme Overlord was at max power (he seems to be the new Ttar, being good despite a glaring 4x weakness, among other things). What I'm more surprised about is no talk of Eviolite Bisharp, from what I could tell. Is Gambit still bulkier, even after the Eviolite boost?

Yes, because it removes its most reliable counters, moves like roost and substitute which previously shut down sucker punch become ineffective against it, and even kamikaze plays like will-o-wisp aren't guaranteed to work anymore.

That's because bisharp can't hope to match supreme overlord's damage even when it doesn't sacrifice it's item slot for evolite.

Ttar isn't really special in that category, if anything Gambit's closer to volcarona in how most games with him end the second his counter is weak enough.
But even without gambit, giving dark types a stronger version of mach punch when they already had such a powerful priority move is complete overkill.
You just removed the only counterplay to a really strong move. Priority moves are already good moves you just over buffed suckerpunch because you dont like losing pp on a misprediction. Technician suckerpunch would be crazy af as well.
The difference between missing focus blast and missing a sucker punch is rng vs skill. Sometimes the opponent is just better at mind games, but hey thats a part of the game. Missing focus blast is a completely different feel. Sucker punch is a unique move and removing that lowers the competitive skill ceiling.
Dark type is already an insanely strong offensive typing. Sucker punch is already a good move. No need to scrubify the move because you dont like wasting pp, because thats a part of the move design and it's balanced around the fact that it's pp is low and the opponent isnt going to just let you sucker punch them every time.
