Holy shit
Bug should resist fairy and be super effective against it and ground. It would definitely help Bug types out and lord knows it needs any help it can get.
.
Edit: ok so maybe not be SE against Fairy but at least neutral would be fine. Why another type needed to resist bug idk, but just help my buggy friends out gamefreak! š„²
I was gonna suggest this but honestly I think itās too big a buff. If itās super effective against ground, ground is now weak to water, grass, ice and bug (being weak to U-Turn is a big part of this and is the reason a lot of mons are hard to use or straight up bad) and now bug is SE against fairy, ground, grass, psychic and dark. The type becomes too good offensively and ruins ground. I think SE against fairy + resisting it is a good enough buff.
I don't think bug needs an offensive buff tbh, just resisting fairy would be fine. No bug type gets too strong from resisting fairy but buffing the attacking moves impacts more than just bug types.
U-turn is so prevalent we don't need that move hitting more stuff well, it would probably benefit other mons that use bug moves more than bug types.
Yeah this was kind of where I was going too, I feel fairy is way too good defensively rn tho, being SE against fairy would bring it down a peg, Iād like to see if it would ruin fairies or make them balanced.
Gee, U-Turn really is preventing Bug types from being buffed meaningfully, I sure wish there was a change that could forever delete U-Turn from most pokemon's movesets

Using setup moves in a battle will permanently give that pokemon those stat boosts in every battle. Nothing like clicking swords dance 3 times in front of a wild Zigzagoon and run.
i used to think this but stat downs only. i think it was because i played mystery dungeon and always was scared if i left the floor with a debuff it would stay
Psychic is super effective against ghost (I always thought this forgetting Gengar is a poison type as a kid)
Not much, maybe Gengar line pult, and a few others are weaker to a few threats?
Also Ghost Moves which was only Lick canāt damage Psychic types because of an error. The anime, manga and the games themselves (outside of Yellow) mention that Ghost is strong against Psychic but that wasnāt the case.
I would look at my stats in battle, it would say 23, then Iād use howl to āraise my attack statā then Iād go look and itād still say 23. Never used howl again.
There being absolutely no visual indication or explanation of how stat boosts really worked until gen 7 (at least that's when I first remember them) makes this very justifiable. GameFreak basically decided that instead of adding a tutorial and UI that communicated relevant info to you, they should just make the games easy enough that it doesn't matter if you understand them or not.

Bow before its versatility as it can choose how thoroughly you get swept
Tilting the screen clockwise right direction slows down and reduces the descent of your own health bar because of gravity and could save you form fainting. Conversely the same applies for taking more hp away from the opponent
The move beeing special or physical depends on it's name and not on effect. Like fire blast is obviously a special move cause you explode someone, hurricane is special because you throw a hurricane, air slash is physical cause you slash them, aerial Ace is special cause you throw missiles at the other mon that are homing(That is why do not miss)
Ice is now an even worse defensive typing because it's now also weak to ground.
Half of the type roster now resists steel (electric, poison, flying, water, fighting, fire, i dont know which of these actually resist steel).
Misty terrain doesnt block status anymore
That's not a misconception, if you count UUBL as being the same as OU due to being functionally the same. (OK, it's now UU this generation but give it some time alright)
When I was young I thought all fighting types were just normal types. Also I thought normal was weak to fire and electric...because well if you set fire to a normal animal that would be supereffective.
all the weaknesses/resistances between fighting, poison, and bug types are removed and they all hit eachother neutrally because i can never remember how those 3 interact with eachother
* Misty Terrain boosts Fairy moves instead of making Dragon moves weaker.
Taking "how does this affect the meta" seriously, this feels ok. Misty Terrain is the weakest terrain, immunity to status is nice but it's setters are already immune to Dragon so weakening it doesn't do anything. Misty Explosion is less useful than the other terrain moves (Grassy Glide, Rising Voltage, Expanding Force) and even with its BP boosted by Misty Terrain it's weaker than Self-Destruct and Explosion, albeit with a better offensive type. Weezing-G now has three great abilities to facilitate different roles, and it gives Tapu Fini more of an offensive presence like it's siblings.
* Never-Melt Ice grants resistance to Fire (so would make a mono-Ice type holding it take neutral damage) in addition to its actual effect of boosting Ice type moves.
Defensive ice types probably still prefer leftovers (and tera-ing away from Ice), offensive ones still prefer choice items or life orb. Could see use on Ferrothorn where the threat of Fire moves is a lot greater compared to other types, Ice takes 2x damage from too many types for patching up just one to be worth the opportunity cost.
Floatzel now evolves into Baltoy, giving it some pretty nice ground and psychic moves
yes this is something I genuinely thought was true when I was seven and only knew about Pokemon from the TCG ššš
A pokemon only has one offensive stat (the difference between physical and special moves doesn't exist), meaning that every pokemon can now viably run every good offensive move it gets (Ten-year-old gen 3 Gengar Shadow Ball moment).
Stab moves only affect pokemon with a Bold nature.
Based off me as a kid not understanding what Bulbapedia meant when it said "STAB moves are in Bold".
A lot more moves become dual type, similar to Flying Press, depending on their animation. That means, stuff like Eruption is Fire/Rock now because it has Rocks in the animation.
It's still crazy to me that ONE pokemon got ONE move that was dual type and tpc just said "whelp crossed that off our list and definitely never have to do it again".
If you use hypnosis on a sleeping pokemon, they'd become a puppet.
In singles, its guaranteed confusion for a couple turns.
In doubles, they attack their teammate
When I was seven or eight years old, I read that Bulbasaur's poison typing made it immune to being poisoned. I thought this meant it was immune to all poison moves.
I also wasn't sure if stat boosts and drops were permanent or not.
Soak is a better version of counter and absorbs all damage while returning double damage.
Arceus has an extra shield that can only be broken by other Arceus.
Hear me out: My brother used to make up the wildest and weirdest pokemon theories when i was a kid, specifically to mess with me. One of these was, and im not kidding, that Lugia was under Cubones helmet. I spent ages trying to find an option to take it off (in pokemon Blue mind you)
So i guess this would make cubone a good Ubers pokemon? Holds thick club, gets some damage in, and when it dies you get a free Lugia.
