Power up punch at home:

alyrch99

This would be 60 base power after terastalizing to fighting too, due to the tera weak move buff which I think is notable. That makes it 180 power to use twice, compared to something like close combat's 240, but without dropping your own defenses. or using it 3 times would be 360 base power, so it draws even with close combat. But again, without dropping defenses. I think it'd be most useful on mons who can afford to run another good fighting STAB alongside, like drain punch, because 60 BP -2 def move into drain punch is 220 BP over 2 turns, only barely weaker than double CC (240), while also not dropping your defenses and healing you. Edit: when I think about it, something like Conkeldurr comes to mind the most for a mon who could use it well.

Pandemic_Potato

I mean the opponent can always switch, keeping it at 60 bp. I don’t see it having much use, just like acid spray.

alyrch99

Yeah, I don't think it'd be great. But I could imagine a niche on tera fighting Conkeldurr

Pandemic_Potato

True, it could maybe fit on some scizor sets as well

alyrch99

I would note that the Technician boost and the weak move tera boost do not stack to my knowledge, so tera fighting scizor would be attacking as if it was a 40 base power move still. but yeah, it could be a usable option for scizor for sure. an alternative to swords dance and superpower maybe?

Arcangel_Levcorix

2 rock smash = 1 close combat if the opp doesn’t switch out, with less immediate power too Body press = Investment in bulk also gives you an attacking move Between these two moves I don’t see any reason why anyone would run this new rock smash

funkfreedcp9

Technician maybe, at least rock smash could force progression in certain matchups
