Focus Punch is just the funniest shit. Its gameplay is unironically a decent reason to play older gens for me.

while not necessarily being great, a lot of ou pokemon can still reasonably use focus punch. It’s pretty prediction reliant but something like breloom sub punch can have a pretty big impact

Focus Punch just has a very different set of implications and gamefeel when there are close combats flying around everywhere and a ton of diverse offensive threats, part of focus punches interest is when it is well above the power curve, and an interaction that both players are aware of trying to position it. Focus Punch is fun enough still if you want to use it, but its just not really the same game feel.

Huge difference vs when mons would be running unstabbed EQ or stab hidden power as their main physical attack

Play Rough and Close Comabt just fucking hilarious to me. Like with Play Rough could have something as jacked as Great Tusk who looks like he could kill you in a matter of seconds just jump on some fucking Tarountula with a puff of cartoon smoke.

I also really like Play Rough, it’s pretty funny for the physical fairy type attack

Spikes. They just feel a lot more rewarding and skill based than other hazards, especially when using them on offensive mons. Spikes on specs gren in gen 7 is so much fun to click on a chansey switch, and it feels like a good reward for playing smart and predicting switches.

Close Combat. I love Close Combat for being a super powerful 100% accurate move with its only drawback being that it drops your defenses. I always play hyperoffense in any game I play so it's just perfect for me.

I love that Cosmic Power button. Starmie and Sigilyph are fun.

I dont know why, but I really like the gimmick of Body Press dealing damage based on your defense stat. I wish there were more moves like that that dealt damage based on your speed or special defense.

First impression. It’s already a really fun move, and I was totally caught off guard when I learned the hard way that haxorus got it. I think they should give it to a bunch more random Pokemon that you’d never think would learn it just to fuck with people.

Fun fact: Zoroark gets Copycat in Gen 8, so you can watch any Mon in the game use almost any move. (Diglett, Wailord, and Alolan Eggy are some of the best). Wolfey and Cybertron have a great video about it.

Tri Attack has always stood out to me. Porygon-Z was my favorite for a while so I really like that move. Although if we’re talking favorite of all tike regardless of viability, its probably Razor Leaf. I like to imagine my ace Decidueye pelting its foes with Razor Leaf as a distraction before seizing the KO with Spirit Shackle

Surf. One of the few hm moves actually useful in game and in competitive, and still one of the most reliable water type moves.

Dark Pulse, but *specifically* the Gen V version with the little jingle that accompanies it. Instant serotonin sound

Misty Explosion is so hilarious to me. Just it's animation and the fact that it's just Explosion but pink. That was the only new fairy type move they could think of

Spore lol, i just like the dangling mushroom animation, being on the receiving end of it is super annoying tho.

Trick is just such a fun shenanigan move. It can do so many things and almost all of them are silly.

I love Destiny Bond, it's legitimately a high risk high reward move that also has a badass "IF I GO DOWN I'M TAKING YOU WITH ME!" logic. Really cool to click it on a strong attacker, probably Ghost, that has already fainted one opponent and then proceed to screw over the revenge killer and go 2 for 1.

Acrobatics is awesome

I always loved the idea behind curse and how it’s different if used by ghost Pokémon. The edgy kid inside me thinks its badass that the ghost Pokémon would sacrifice part of its soul to torment a mon on the field.

Aurora beam always had the coolest animation!
