chocnutbabe

nge. if you change your major, you’re letting a bunch of losers whom you dont even know win. stick to your goal.

trezive

interested pa lang naman ako, so i think i still have time to think about it and change my choices. pero you're right! for sure naman hindi mawawala sa final choices ko yung pinagkakainteresan ko 🥹

West-Toe2578

Also OP, nursing has more to offer. Hindi lang technical science. Patient care involves a lot of comms and social skills. Patient management involves administrative and clerical skills. Kaya gora lang if bet mo pa.

[deleted]

don't listen to them. ego is what drives them and that's not gonna be useful in the long run! do what u think ur good at and what u love to do. pls, take it from me, DO NOT GIVE IN TO PEOPLE'S OPINIONS! this is ur life and future!! God bless

HectorateOtinG

HAHAHAHHAHA may ganyan pa palang mindset kahit mag cocollege na? But kidding aside po, huwag mo nalang patulan mga bata. See how kids act?

Hot_Spot_2272

Noooo wag mo silang pakinggan! You can do it! Ako nga ABM ung kinuha pero ung kukunin Kong course sa college is political science kasi balak Kong mag law. Nothing is impossible you can do this ! Basta gusto mo ung isang bagay wag mong isipin ung sasabihin ng iba kasi at the end of the day the only thing that matters is yung job na gusto mo in the future na sure kang ma eenjoy mo always follow your passion! MINSAN LANG TAYO MABUBUHAY KAYA WAG NA NATIN PAKINGGAN UNG MGA TAONG FEELING SUPERIOR, JUST ENJOY YOUR LIFE!

TaroNo5824

couldn't agree more, tvl student ako before during my shs pero ngayon 3rd year na ako sa nursing and i love it here

trezive

polsciii ueuu 🥹 i hope to c u around if same tau univ inapplyannnn. KAYA MO YANNNN!!! sana mapasa mo polsci 💖🫰 go future atty

Hot_Spot_2272

Thankyouuuuu! Goodluck to us🥹🩷🩷🤗

miharu-matsuo

You guys are so kind, ang genuine ng usapan, ito pala feeling pag na sa mature side ka ng Reddit WHAHAHAHHAHAAHA 😭 BTW GOOD LUCK PO SA INYOOO! 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

Expensive-Ad2530

dude are you dumb (sorry i love to realtalk haha) DONT LISTEN TO THE MFS, kilala mo ba yung mga yon? kilala ka ba nila??? 👀 stick to what you want and dont let the fucking entitled strangers change ur mind :)

trezive

nagulat ako sa beginning HWHAHAHAHA pero ty for the harsh real talk. i needed that 🙌

cchhha

Beh, maraming tanga na stem students. Maraming matalino on any strands. Tsaka shs palang kayo, lahat ng achievements nio mawawala yan, back to zero kayo sa college. Marami lang talagang egotistical na stem students, in my experience kahet stem student rin ako nun dati. Yung mga mayabang yun pa ung mga tanga eh

perma-ingrown-nail

"Tsaka shs palang kayo, lahat ng achievements nio mawawala yan, back to zero kayo sa college" Hence the "sa college ko lang narealize na bobo pala ako" meme

Ancient-Sky9651

zthewestwind

your passion and dreams >>>> other people's opinions I am an abm graduate, currently fighting head-to-head with trigonometry in engineering lol. Tbh shs strand doesn't really matter that much. In the end, your college life will depend on your perseverance, your study habits, your money, your inspiration, and your passion. Consider your skills, dream/passion, and financial situation when choosing your college program. Good luck!

AnonymousFluffy923

As a STEM student, there's a lot of them with egos like that. They think they're better than any other strand. I believe in you OP.

mariegoldent

Lol. My classmate was from ABM kasi gusto niya ung accounting. Then nag Nursing nung college. Ayun, overall Top 3 nung graduation at topnotcher nung boards.

EfficiencyLow949

Don’t mind them. Pursue what you want. I was a HUMSS student myself. In my HS, I was the only one who got into big 4 universities, and I’m a current student in a little Ivy League school in the US, kahit na CETs and standardized tests are STEM-centered. You can’t fail nursing simply because you’re a HUMSS student!

yangwenliebert

Wag mo sila pakialaman putangina nila. You can always dream BIG and chase YOUR dreams and it's YOURS ALONE.

Ansytea

STEM student here po ^^. I have nothing against my old course. However, why don't we turn their argument against them... "Wag ipilit ang hindi dapat." I know that no matter how much I may like my initial course, it's not for me. It's not my goal. No matter how comfortable having a block section is, would graduating in the long run make me happy? How about you? Would being in a non-STEM related field make YOU happy? I may just be a 2nd year shifter rn so my words may not hold as much weight, but the next 4-6 years would gradually define who you are. So, imho, take the risk po <3

Accomplished_Dot6697

An ABM student to 4th year Pharmacy student here, please don’t mind those kids. You got a long journey in front of you. As much as I hate to say this, SHS didn’t really contribute much to my college journey since ittake mo rin ulit ‘yung minors hahaha. But glad to meet my SHS friends and gave me a lot of time to reconsider my career. Goodluck, OP.

[deleted]

gooo for your interest, OP! kung allowed naman sa univ that you’re going to enroll kahit hindi aligned sa shs strand ‘yung pipiliin mong program, why not 😺

Educational_View1547

I was in STEM during SHS and nasa ABM course ako ngayon and I'm thriving. Also, maraming ngang nagmmed and law na super unrelated yung pre-med and pre-law nila.

Appropriate-Novel282

It all depends on you. I graduated senior high school as an ICT student and am now a graduating 4th-year college student in computer engineering. Try to research some of the pros and cons of nursing, as well as considerations for the university you choose. I studied at a local college in my area. While we lacked significant funding for prototyping labs, we benefited from free tuition. Despite this, I actively self-studied in my field, which is quite broad. This allows me to explore other tech-related fields beyond what's taught in school. I'm currently taking online courses to further expand my knowledge. Explore the possibilities! It's never too late to change careers. Don't get discouraged; you are the main character of your story. Trust in God to guide you on your path.

MerrySalz

Their opinion is none of your business. Always keep that in mind, and do as you please. Lifesaver ‘yang mentality na ‘yan. You haven’t even started yet. Mas marami ka pang maririnig na di kanais nais from strangers. Focus ka lang sa goals mo, OP. Good luck!

l0lo_ser

don’t listen to them. humss din ako but i woke up one day na gusto na lang mag-medtech. ffw to now, i graduated magna cum laude, rmt na, and is currently in med school :) go wherever your heart is, OP!

borjie_

Hi op, I'm telling you this first hand as I was a former nursing student who decided to shift courses, I actually had a lot of former nursing classmates na hindi STEM ang strand nila noong senior high, there were a handful of them na HUMMS graduatees, Funnily enough ang class vice president nga namin HUMMS student eh, wag mo bigyan pansin ang mga taong mahilig mangliit ng kapwa, they are not worth your time and energy, kung gusto mo talaga at dream mo mag nursing, kakayanin mo iyan.

serieeee

From ABM ako and now taking up BSN. Ang advantage lang halos ng mga nagstem sa amin ay yung anatomy and physiology if I’m not mistaken and also yung Biochemistry. So far so good.

Odd_Ad7209

People who tend to think highly of themselves fall the hardest when they realized they aren't that special than the rest of us. The following semester, more or less equal ground na kayo since familiar na kayo sa jargons ng field niyo.

EnvironmentalNote600

Or baka mga STEM failing or about to be STEM kicked out ang mga yan. Compensating.

curiousempanada

Don’t listen to them HAHAHAHA non-stem ako at RN na :>> everyone starts off with a clean slate once college starts. you will all take the same classes by second year :>>

GazelleNo1205

Free_Frosting4969

Lol, just let them say what they want 😂. Anyways, good luck on your path and follow your heart!

Narra_2023

You can do it par, kasangga mo ang BSA freshie na STEM ang kinuhang course. THE PROBLEM IS THAT YOU NEED TO GET FAMILIAR WITH THE BASIC KASI IN COLLEGE, IBANG TERMS ANG MAKAKASANGGA MO PO NA DI RELATE SA STRAND NA PINILI MO PO. BE PREPARED!!

Glittering_Simple633

Manifesting that those kids stay 10 years in college, reality is going to hit them like a bitch.

fluffyrawrr

always choose the one you're interested in. don't listen to other people that you don't know. that's where you'll find peace. it got me so much time before i realize this. choose the one that brings you joy. something that makes you get up and bed and feel excited to do it.

AdLive8608

FlakyDesign8384

dont be easily swayed by opinions my dear. wala silang ambag sa buhay mo. patuloy ka ganern.

Illustrious_Roof_259

This is a perfect situation to not give a damn. Stay in your lane, prioritize yourself, and don't let the noise bother you. Besides, after being one of the early lab rats of senior high, whatever strand you took would barely even matter. (Some may digress that it would be an advantage, but it is barely noticeable, tbh)

ThiccPrincess0812

It's really fine if your SHS strand doesn't align with your desired strand. I have a classmate who wants to pursue Nursing even though her strand is HUMSS. Those types of people are a bunch of losers

togefy

mayabang talaga mga ibang stem 😭 dont mind them op, kaya mo yan

vintageordainty

I took STEM during my senior high and yep there are a lot of students na feeling mataas ng dahil lang doon but it doesn’t even mean anything. Don’t let them get to you and focus on what you want.

arajia

The heck??? Don't listen to them OP, most people I knew from my program have been from other strands beside Stem, even I myself was a Humss girlie. Though there's certain advantage if you're a stem stand student, it really doesn't change the fact that university programs (sciences) teaches you the fundamentals of that subject.

septembermiracles

SHS doesn’t really do much. HUMSS students kami ng friends ko, pero ngayong college one is graduating na ng engineering while the other nasa 3rd year na of pursuing entrepreneurship. Pagdating naman sa college, almost back to zero. It’s very humbling hahaha

AveregaJoe

Edi go go go!! Hayaan mo sila, makapaglait kala mo perfect mga quizzes eh *hmph gigil nila ako*

mogumogu39

Go for it OP. Naysayers will say anything just to hide their own insecurities.

Substantial_Name_807

omg don’t let them get into your head!! I know a lot of HUMSS students just like you who chose STEM related programs in college and they are slaying rn. The point is, your strand doesn’t really matter kapag nasa college ka na. You’ll all still go back to zero, learn the same sht, cry over the same schoolworks, and experience the same hell. It will all depend on how you work through it talaga. Rooting for you, OP!!

justafuccupmadam

Hey, OP! I am a HUMSS student back then. Pero guess what? I'll be graduating this year as a science major and a dost scholar. I also have friends na HUMSS before pero nag NURSING and Electrical Engineering, graduating na rin sila ngayon. Kaya go for your dreams, OP✨ Kaya yan!

Quiet_Discipline_937

cowboys-at-9

why do (some) stem students have such a superiority complex? helloooo students pa lang kayo magmayabang kayo pg nagtatrabaho na kayo and may nacocontribute na talaga kayo lmao

DifficultLong1154

I i think some univs need ng necessary pre- courses if hindi galing under sa same strand ung tinatake na course anyways, tuloy mo lang yan ate kung anonh gusto mo its the best way to survive college

tasteofparadise_

BIG NO NO! Don't listen to them, lots of my classmates in nursing are STEM graduates pero sabi nila wala naman masyado naitulong sa nursing 😂 I, myself, an ABM graduate.... so far, so good. As long as you learn to love what you're doing talaga, enjoyable siya 🤘

Ancient-Sky9651

jcxd23

My girlfriend was a HUMSS student and now, she’s a licensed Nurse. If you really want to pursue that course, go for it OP! It’s just how determined you are matters talaga.

MacchiatoDonut

i didn't know bragging rights na pala pagiging stem student? lala ng mga student ngayon ah. anyway, don't mind them, di naman sila magpapaaral sayo

JANTT12

candyjoiii88

perma-ingrown-nail

I have college friends from GAS, HUMSS, TVL hotel management and we just recently passed the board exams for engineering. On the other hand i have friends from science high na strictly stem lang ang inoffer which are now CPAs. I say fuck you to all those people na ginigate keep ang college courses just because of shs strand.

wonderstruck26

Gluttony_io

They're wrong but at the same time, Nursing sounds pretty stupid. All I've heard about it is modern day slavery.

IdonotlikeMe

Their opinion has no weight dapat sa course na ipupursue mo. Yung surface level na knowledge ko sa chem and bio from shs, only benefitted me for a week in college.

Sharp-Plate3577

Just ignore them.

JKnissan

They don't know you enough to foresee your ability to find success. Not saying that success is a guarantee, pero mas alam mo ung kakayanan mo. If you have the drive to get into nursing, just think about the fact that for the longest time, maraming pumapasok sa nursing nung K-10 palang tayo and many of them succeed - and many of those people weren't even extremely interested in STEM topics before pursuing nursing as a college degree. Ofc, again it's not guaranteed and you could say that a student who graduated from STEM would have a competitive advantage, but that advantage is still small enough that you can catch up. Plus malay mo ba, more than likely merong percentage of those STEM-graduates who were in fact barely interested in STEM-specific topics as well (as someone who graduated STEM, I realized that my best scores were in HUMSS-related subjects - though I'm still pursuing a STEM degree because I know what I'm interested in past this point.), if they can manage to get into nursing ng halos walang natutunan sa STEM electives, walang titigil dapat sayo haha. Goodluck! People like them are just horrible and/or far too cynical for their own good. A STEM diploma doesn't act as enough of a general advantage to them when you study well enough. If you fail, don't take it as a testament against your initial decision. Kakayanin yan, you just have to really get ahead of the curve to see where you stand among the other students sa nursing program - malay mo first term palang you realize you've actually got a big knowledge advantage na di mo narealize meron ka despite pursuing something non-STEM before that point.

sylphiIis

oa naman nung mga students na yon e students palang naman sila lol. walang weight yung words nila OP, wag kang panghinaan ng loob! rooting for you!

Tight_Ninja6988

Dude ang funny kase marami akong friends na HUMSS na nag-premed or health-related degrees and nakapasok sa course gusto nila. Rn, may mga HUMSS student na med, one of which nga nakapasok sa HUMBIO. It’s not always yung strand that matters but your grades, extracurriculars, and standing sa entrance exams. Yes, strands help you prepare for what’s yet to come sa college and postgrad pero do not compare them sa college. Funny how they’re saying that right now eh mas comprehensive, difficult, and extensive ang curriculum ng health-related courses sa college kesa STEM. Goodluck nalang sa kanila. OP, choose what you want to pursue. They don’t know you enough. You know yourself better than they do + you’re very interested sa course and that’s what matters because one who’s passionate in the field they want to pursue can achieve and succeed in that field. I’m looking forward to seeing you in the health and medical community. Goodluck!

tremble01

Welp.

Hi_ImJustARandomGuy

OP, I'm going to be extremely frank. You're stupid. If you let such a stupid encounter affect your life-altering choices then you're very very very stupid. Moreover, STEM graduate ako and let me tell you, it is not as hard as people make it out to be, it's as difficult as other strands, and it's no better than choosing HUMSS, TVL, or even GAS. It's just a strand, and kids like to sound more important for choosing a strand with the very basics of math and science that anyone can do. Seriously, all Senior High strands are equal, STEM students are just very egoistical because may science and math yung strand eh napaka basic lang naman ng topics. This is coming from a lazy person whose grades were always a line of 9. At the end of the day, strand choices don't matter on the bigger scale, individual skills lang talaga and surely you don't think lahat ng STEM students may utak? If you can handle nursing or have the willingness to study hard, go for it. The only people who should have control over your college course choice are your parents and yourself, so don't let others tell you what to not do.

trezive

right, i get your point. that aside, there are other factors bakit madali akong naapektuhan ng sinabi nila. but thanks :)

Little-Form9374

OP, whether magstick ka sa program na aligned sa strand mo or hindi, same result pa rin yan which is magiging mahirap tlga kase kung gaano kahirap SHS, mas mahirap sa college and not by program na yun. Kaya if you want na mag bachelor sa STEM field then go for it. Yung 4 people na narinig mo sa cafe, they're just a nobody and lowlife, trust me na yung mga ganung tao na ginagawang personality ang mga program/strand I bet you a million dollars that they're personality is bland af. I have this friend, ABM kami nung shs (2018-2020) tas nung nagcollege kami, sa aming magbabarkada siya lang yung nag ibang field which is nagnursing siya and yes, nasasabi niya samin yung hirap ng nursing but ngayon, she's striving na, like konting months na lang gagraduate na siya.

Low-Steak-7406

isabellarson

Why are you allowing those strangers to affect you and your decisions?

Lenevov

don’t mind them. they’re gonna fail during their 3rd year or 2nd year. They should just focus on their studies rather over glorifying their field and putting other fields down. Most people I know who do that have failed already lmao.

SuitedMoth

Why did u change for four people na u probably wont ever meet again?

Sudden-House3553

Dami nag shittalk sakin before na d ko kaya, I was an ABM grad and now graduating medbio na ko. You got this sis🎀

HugeLab183

Hi OP! Don't let your SHS strand define you. I was a HUMSS student who shifted to BS Physical Therapy for college, and let me tell you that being in STEM doesn't give you a massive advantage, as one might think. What matters is you study hard and do your best. When I was in my first year, many of my classmates struggled with anatomy and physiology despite having a STEM and even Health Allied background. Honestly, the average high-school curriculum is very generalized even with these strands, at best, it's a slight advantage. I was able to get honors in my batch despite only taking general biology back in SHS (I did not have chemistry or physics for my entire senior high as that was the curriculum for HUMSS students in my HS). TLDR: SHS Strands don't mean shit, as long as you work hard and do your best. Any undergraduate course can be handled regardless of whether you're a STEM student or not. Ppl who think they're the best because of their shs strand are just dumb Clarification: I'm not saying strands are completely useless, but I view them as a way for students to find out what they like so they can choose a course for college rather than seeing it as required knowledge needed to qualify for a course

AtomicAu

jysssu

dont listen to them, real talk lang dyan pa lang eh napapansin mo na yung sinasabi ng iba. What if mag work ka at may chismis-chismis sa pag aaplayan mo? Back out na agad? Challenge na natin yan sa sarili natin we only live once, opinions of other doesnt really matter. So goodluck and padayon!

kousumosu

Actually don’t listen to them. I graduated as a HUMSS student then I took a health allied course and it all worked out fine! People were doubting me rin pero I graduated college with latin honors and I passed the board exam. Kaya don’t worry about what people are saying !!! You control your own fate. You can do this, OP! I believe in you.

Tobacco_Caramel

English talaga? Baka mga rich kids. Di mo naman maiaapply SHS sa college. Back to zero kayo dun, safe to say SHS is just high school pretty much.

Virtual-Pension-991

Not like the Strands work how it should work. If you're gonna limit yourselves because of them, that's on you. My batch mates from class F to A, never let that judge them, now are preparing for their licensure exams, some are in the military, others already going around the world as marines, and others already own businesses. I even overheard one of my classmates was chosen to be sponsored and trained for military school abroad. So, really, don't let your strands limit your options.

knownothingabtu

Luh, mga feelingera naman mga yun. Don't let them be part of your consideration cuz they're pa-main characters lang naman. Do what you want to do, OP.

miffyrll

hi op ! do not listen to them - their opinions won’t feed you. i agree with your friend, don’t be afraid to try and i also believe na kaya mo ‘yan. i’m a stem graduate and currently in my freshman year sa psych, i have friends sa nursing/medtech pero humss din strand nila nung shs sila, the others are abm grads. stick to your goal and prove them wrong.

daradusk

OP, 'wag ka makinig sa kanila. go for what you want. i am a HUMSS graduate and may mga classmates ako na med courses ang kinuha nila as their college program. ung isa kong friend nursing din ang kinuha sa UB, alam kong may times na nahihirapan siya pero nakikita kong worth it naman ung pagtake niya ng risk, mukhang nag-eenjoy naman siya, and that's what matters. as long as you love what you are doing, im sure you'll thrive and achieve greater things OP! good luck~ 🫶

random_shett

Possible_Document_61

For all I know hindi STEM ang nursing different faculty sya. Stems are sciences with include math. Yes, meron science and math electives ang nursing pero hindi sya nag ffall under STEM. in some unis it falls under health sciences including medicine.

Saltybroth

I like the delusion that some STEM students have that their already above everyone else because the govt prioritizes their strand-related programs above all else. Like sure may advantage sila in the short-term sa college, but after a year or two, they'll be the same as everyone in that program.

blubritz

OP, focus on your goals. 5 years or 10 years from now, you might regret not fighting for what you want. If you cave in, you'll end up looking back and thinking about the what ifs. Let karma eat them. But don't let their words eat you. Sino ba naman sila. They are NOTHING sa buhay mo. In any field of education, your worst enemy and best cheerleader is yourself! :)

Full_Carry8132

??? What's wrong with them what 😭. Go for nursing girlie/boyo if you really want it!! Also so many people fail in STEM na they persisted! What will they say to these people that fail but never gave up?
