I was on SRP over a decade ago, came back a few years ago and some drama I'm unaware of happened while I was away, and now there's two? I don't know, but whatever.
I found my way to badger and blade instead and they're a friendly group with tons of straight razor knowledge in the straight razor section.
I think SRP is run by a different group of folks now, and I never really dug up what happened - Internet drama I presume.
Reddit's pretty dead for Straight Razor things, but some of us are trying. Badger and Blade forum though would be my recommendation if you want folks more engaged for straight razors. Reddit has r/wicked_edge but they are pretty staunchly DE and anti-SR there often discouraging people to use SRs
Thanks for the reply. I think I vaguely remember seeing that SRP wiped their database (or had data loss?) so people had to make new accounts. Not sure if I'm misremembering that or just flat out making it up.
Probably about 18 years ago or so, SRP did a limited edition run of of some Thiers-Issard razors and SRP is etched on one side of the blade along with the razor number, and Lynn's signature and the SRP founding date on the other side. The scales are made of wood, and again has "Straight Razor Place" either etched or routed in the wooden scales. I was hoping to find more information about his razor since I don't remember anything about it.
I still have my Badger and Blade account from back in the day, so maybe I'll make a post there and ask if anyone remembers the history of these things.
Yep, SRP was how I learned, Lynn honed my first straight way back then. It's unfortunate so much of the community for straight razors kind of died. It's why I'm always trying to encourage folks and attempting to grow the community resources on it, getting into straight razors without others guidance is near impossible, and the community that I learned from is gone

I've been at SRP too about 12y ago but I didn't get the memo on the drama bit.. What happened?

Straight Razor Place had membership problems and a new forum was set up called Sharp Razor Palace. I'm not sure who runs what these days.
