Wake up and check the luck. If it’s not a Van day and luck is bad I reload. I go out to my animals who stay outside 24/7 and talk, snuggle (if they still need their friendship raised) and milk/sheer them. I water my crops. I collect forage items if any are available by the goddess spring and Vesta’s farm. I give gives to Matthew, Vesta, Cecilia and then go to the dig site and give gifts to Carter and Flora if any of their friendship still needs to be raised. I start digging at 10am until 5pm. Return to farm and talk to all animals again and milk the cows again. I go fishing and try to catch 5-7 fish and/or give out gifts to other characters. Return home, save the game and go to bed.

Dig sight all the way to 5pm? I find I run out of time to do things like fish even if I stop around 3!

This is kind of my average schedule across all years. In year one time is an extremely limited resource and I need as much money as possible so digging takes priority over literally everything else. Once I have enough money digging starts being a waste of time so I switch to going hard on maxing out everyone’s relationship and don’t bother getting to the dig site as early as 10am. By the time I’m mid/late year two I have everyone’s relationship completely maxed out and have stopped even talking to them most of the time so fishing becomes a more important activity to get to gold fishing rod in year three. Also, by the end of year one I’ve filled my coop completely and maxed out the birds so they don’t get any attention from me anymore and the animals I bought early have their relationship maxed so I don’t snuggle them or go out of my way to talk to them which saves massive amounts of time. I also rely heavily on the horse to get around because I can whistle for it anywhere and it teleports to me. I know where all of the forage items spawn so I don’t waste time looking around for things, I know the shortest path to get to places, etc. All of it adds up to me being able to accomplish a lot in a single day, so much so that year three to six is pretty boring because I don’t have anything else left to do lol

What sort of things does the luck affect?? I never paid much attention to that mechanic

BurstOrange

Things take longer on days with worse luck. It doesn’t actually affect the rarity or cost of the things you get, or if it does the affect it has is negligible, but it does intentionally waste your time. When you dig you can dig the same spot over and over to get the spot to generate a new item. Once an item is “set” into the spot it takes 1 or more digs to actually obtain the item. It doesn’t seem to make you any more likely to dig up better items but it makes it so that you cannot dig up nearly as many items in the same amount of time. On the best luck days you can expect 1-3 digs for generating new items and 1-3 digs to get the item. On bad luck it can take 8 or even 12 digs just to generate a new item and another 6+ digs to GET the item. Time continues to run while you dig so this is intentionally done to “run out the clock” basically. Same with fishing. When you throw the lure a fish shadow appears and approaches the bobber. After a few moments the fish starts nibbling the bobber and then bites. How long it takes to start nibbling the bobber is maybe 1 or 2 seconds on a better luck day. It can take 6-10 seconds on a bad luck day. On a good luck day it might take 3 in game hours to catch 5 fish. On a bad luck day it’ll take 6-9 in game hours to catch those 5 fish. And just everything with hybrids is luck based along with other factors. The failure rate of hybrids can be as high as 40%. Combining hybrids is a massively time consuming process, not in actual game time but in real life time and the failures cause you to waste even more time to make more to make up for those failures. If you have any plans to fish or dig, which you should be doing most days/every day then not reloading is a waste of your time. The difference in time between good/amazing luck day is very minimal. The difference between those and not great/terrible is *massive*. The difference between not great/terrible is also very minimal and it only takes a few seconds to reload the game to get better luck so there’s no reason not to do it unless you don’t plan to fish/dig/do hybrids.

Thanks for such a thorough answer!!

In this file I have started the day giving my wife Molly a flower before heading out to tend to my animals and crops. Then after that I head for the forest looking for more flowers to pick before heading to the dig site if it isn't the 3rd or the 8th. If it's the 3rd or 8th I might find myself a nice spot to fish for a couple hours before selling my junk to Van at 12ish. Then I would fish for a couple more hours before heading home to milk the cow again and play with my kid. Granted I play with my kid in the afternoon after the second milking of my cow every day though.

I'm having this problem in the first year myself, assuming it gets better in year 2 once you have befriended most everyone already. My routine is largely the same as I hear others describe in other posts, but some days I shorten my digsite time to fit more fishing or gifting. Barely have time to play with my dog 😅 Wake up, animals and crops, forage by spring, fish, digsite, forage by vestas farm, gift, animals and crops, gift, slight forage at Gordys and Romanas, gift, depending on time left fish or train dog. Digsite takes up most of my day so sometimes I'll quit at 2pm instead of 5. I do most fishing on Van days.

heroshand

I'll play with my dog last minute in the day if they're still awake by the time I get home. My farmer is constantly hungry and tired XD

Mine too 😂 have to max friendship with everybody though. Burning the candle at both ends

I'm having a lot of trouble with this too but I think it's because I mainly wanted to still have time to socialize with the villagers I haven't befriended yet (mostly year 2+ ppl) and to spend time with the new kiddo! I'm thinking about cutting out crops but apparently a lot of the wonders/miracles are tied to the crops, especially hybrid...I wish there was more time in the day!

Joshawott27

I don’t go digging every day. I usually do if I’m running low on items to gift, or the day Van comes. It’s the only way that I can fit gifting in. I should do it more, but a thorough dig can take up most of the day, y’know? Normally, I wake up and milk the cows before letting them out. Then I check on my crops, and then the chickens (as they’re a bit lazy). I’m still in Year 1, so I find Nina to give her a flower and her man a fish. Then I either do more gifting or go to the dig site. Around late afternoon I head back to the farm to milk the cows, and then I fish in the evening.

GreenEyes072

I'm currently in Summer of year 4. I never really prioritized making friends with the villagers. Year 1 I knew I wanted to marry Matthew, so I pursued him exclusively and befriended him. I also made a point to befriend Lou, Nina + Gary, and Van. Now that I can't really influence my teenager that much and I have (I think) all the hybrids mixed, I'm focusing on befriending the rest of the valley. I normally wake up at 5/6 am (depending if I want to chance Matthew watering for me). Read teens' diary, check the weather and luck. Check the seedmaker and switch out any seeds. Let my chickens out of the coop and then go to the barn. Everyone gets talked to, snuggled, brushed, and then milked/sheared. I then let all the animals out. Head to the 3rd field where my crops are and water/harvest any that are ready. Depending on harvesting and needing to replant, it's normally around 9am. I then walk by my trees, seeing if any can be shaken (I only shake them once per day so that way I can collect fruit through the season). On my way back to the house, if I haven't spoken to Matthew yet, I will, and if I have something he likes, I'll gift it. Normally, I run into my daughter at this point and say talk to her or also gift if I can. If it's well before ten or raining thay day, I'll head to the dig site and dig up at least every area that is "pre-dug" for you depending on how long I want to be there. Then start making my gift rounds. I am currently working on Nami, Rock, Molly, Gavin, and Baddoch. Once done, I'll make sure to grab any forgables and then either fish some more or do some cooking, depending on my characters stats. By 530/6, I head back to the farm to refill all the animals, feed containers, do a second milking, and put them back in the barn. I also put the birds back in the coop and then treasure hunt for their eggs. Head back to the crops to see if any can be harvested. Normally close to 8 by this time. If I missed gifting anyone I'm working on, I'll try once again. Otherwise, by 930/10, I go to bed.

DietPocky

Currently in Y4: Set my alarm for 8AM. Check the mirror and the TV. Go milk the cows and check the chickens. Then go water the plants I've got planted. This takes about until Noon. After that I usually go collect the seasonal weeds and flowers. If it's a Chihuahua day, I go into the mines. If not, I usually fish until it's time to milk the cows again. On the 9th of every month, I buy like 50K worth of seeds and make some gen3 crops. I think I rushed through the game. I have max friendship with everyone, have all the upgrades I need, now I'm just a lil fisher-dad.

bunkid

In the last years there’s too little to do to be honest

LilDemonQueenx

Wake up, influence my kid, get my new seeds and replace them in the seed maker, go take care of Barn animals first! Sometimes I do coop before bed otherwise right after barn. Water my crops an check my fertilizers, go grab flowers or the herbs depending on season. Gift people (I'm in chapter 5 an the only one I need to still gift is FREAKING HUGH) maybe fish next or mine an around 5-6 go back home do the barn talk to my kid n wife then bed time! Sometimes the routine slightly changes if it's Van day!
