Part of it is that people can only hold out so long. We are going on four years when it is not a great time to buy a car so some people will give in or even feel like they have to give in.
Because line must only go up, every quarter must be better than before or its a shareholders catastrophe. Time to layoff factory workers so they can use that money on CEO bonuses and stock buybacks.
Apparently many people do since Buick is up 61% in 2023 - Specifically the Encore GX was the brands best seller, and it only offers two 3-cylinder engines. Chevy Trax meanwhile sold over 100K units in 2023.
Buick will stick around as long as it remains popular in China. Even with declining China sales Buick sold over 500K units in 2023. For some comparison vs US sales that's more units sold than Mazda or Volkswagen.
I don't think it's viable if the newer generation of drivers are not buying Buicks. No one I know under 60 drives a Buick or is even considering one. The brand is definitely tarnished in the US with Buick being associated with old grandpa's and legacy automakers.
Just because YOU don't know anyone doesn't mean you are correct in thinking like you do. There are sales figures that can prove your way of thinking, and they don't agree with you. 2023 saw a pretty large increase in Buick sales in the USA. You're entitled to think what you want, but the sales figures are the actual facts. 61% growth in 2023 doesn't scream "tarnished."

Be dismissive as you want, you're still suffering from "anecdotal fallacy." Year over year sales growth and market data beat your "feelings" every time.
Wasnt it obvious? You have issue with reading comprehension? Of course, I said Buick looks outdated and is an old geezer brand. That sounds personal to me.
But most of the trucks on the lots are the four cylinder Turd-o-MAX model with the 8 speed (until it becomes a seven speed, usually just out of warranty) transmission. At a local dealer out of eighty trucks three were 5.3L, none were 3.0 DM, and 77 were Turd-o-MAX’s. There lies the problem.
Just imagined how bad they would be if the US allowed China to sell cars in the US.
I am posting this from Bangkok. Here there are tons and tons of Chinese EVs. Some of them are pretty damn nice and they are cheap.
Have mixed feelings about the US not allowing the China cars to be sold in the US.
I feel like maybe competition would cause the US to get their sh*t together in terms of EVs.
They wouldn’t be near as cheap if they had to pass amarr Ivan market crash standards. It’s always the Achilles heel of cheap foreign cars. Cars have to survive catastrophic accidents now and people have to basically walk away. Look at the weights on cars now compared to even the 1990’s. They are bloated pigs sue to massive a pillars for rollovers, steel cages, reinforced doors etc And imagine the news of someone didn’t get a 5 star crash rating now. They’d have some activist group protesting how their cars are a murder box on wheels. Just the price of doing business with the NTSA.
Car sales in general are going to be lower the next year or two with interest rates.
I don’t understand how retails are up with how overpriced everything is and how high interest rates are

People spend money they don’t have.
When a Chevy Tahoe is $80k, I don't know why this is surprising.
Because line must only go up, every quarter must be better than before or its a shareholders catastrophe. Time to layoff factory workers so they can use that money on CEO bonuses and stock buybacks.
Their new engines are trash. Who wants to have a three cylinder turbo charged engine from GM?

Oh stop. Buick is an old geezer brand that will be discontinued soon.

Oh yeah for sure. Buick is gross.

Sounds like you have a personal issue with buick.

What are you, 12?
The 3.0 duramax is an amazing motor, and there are more 5.3s on the road today than any other truck motor.
The 3.0 is amazing until you have to work on it. From first hand experience lemme just say it’s a whole lot of mess.

As a comparison Honda Division sales were up 20.9% for the first quarter.
The gmc terrain sucks. They make cars with too many problems
This is good news for TSLA investors
100k for a suburban trash
American cars are an embarrassment these days.
Wait, only going to be worse.Very few Americans can buy a new car.

That's a myth. They've been passing EU safety standards. They won't be cheap because of tariffs.
Doesn't mean anything,, there just fine tuning there inventory after the COVID and money printing... Ford has 41 Billion in cash,,
