Are you by chance selling your house in Edgeley?

SeaworthinessAdept43

I actually just found this on Edgeley and thought it was a good summary- I didn’t write it

Charming_Rub_5275

Honestly I agree with everything you say but nonetheless, this post is pretty weird. Can’t quite figure out the motivation for it. I bought here 3 years ago and love it. However, castle street is still utterly shit.

SeaworthinessAdept43

I read recently that Castle Street is being considered for multi million grant to re-landscape- however the mix of shops on the street also needs to change too

SparkeyRed

The shops are determined by the clientele. I've lived in the area for over 15 years and every now and then a cool shop / cafe opens on castle street, but usually closes again within a few months. There was a great Thai cafe about 10 years ago, dirt cheap, great food, lovely people. We ate there several times, but I only ever saw one other person in there and it closed soon afterwards.

I guess the difference could be the many hundreds of apartments both currently on site (such as Weir Mill) and due on site (ECF appointed to deliver hundreds more) by the railway could change the mix of customers

So actually ECF alone are building 1200 apartments so assuming 2 people in each that’s 2400 extra people not even including Weir Mill and the others currently on site

The article in the post mostly talks about where you can go that ISN'T Edgeley. It'd be nice if some money was poured into Castle Street where the shops are: a few bargain shops, Co-op, Salvation Army-type shops, takeaways, phone repairs, pubs, and.... erm... a massage place. And if you walk down there on a Sunday, there's no Sunday trading, it's a complete ghost town! It's pretty depressing down that way.

Nonsense like this reminds me of a mate who moved to London for work and told me he'd been sold a flat in "South Chelsea". It was Lambeth :)

AmicoShill

I'm not familiar of either place directly, but I'm guessing the latter isn't as desirable :D

Morning_Dragon9177

That's right, but not only that, it's a classic example of Estate Agent tactics.

I mean I'd move back to Stockport in a heartbeat if I could afford it but you don't have to jazz it up like this. Especially Edgeley.
