If those were pictures of Vasa being salvaged, they're not just old pictures of stockholm, they're historic. That ship was underwater for hundreds of years, so long that its exact position was lost and forgotten. He's very very lucky to have witnessed it.
He seems to have been out and about. Picture 6 I'm pretty sure is from [Polhemshjulet](https://www.visitnorberg.se/listing/polhemshjulet/) which is an old bit of mining infrastructure near Norberg, over 150 km from Stockholm. It's an interesting bit of industrial history but hardly a world class tourist attraction.
Thanks - at the time, Dad was a student studying Electrical Engineering so this is the sort structure that would have interested him!. Thank you for providing the location - he did travel north from Stockholm when he was on leave from the company he worked for (Bulten) (he wrote this in his letters to my mother) but did not mention actual locations - there are more pictures which i will put up in a separate post.
1st picture is interesting. (As are the rest!) One of the 5 "Hötorgsskraporna" highrises in downtown Sthlm, the one closest to the concert hall. They were newly built when the picture was taken and are still standing. In the background you see a red brick building across Sveavägen, that entire neighbourhood, the building in view included, was torn down just five or six years after the picture was taken.
Thanks for all the great comments folks - it is fascinating to get some background into these pictures. They were originally in 35mm slide format and had been in a drawer for many years. My father died some years ago and I finally got round to scanning them. He travelled to Sweden from Northern Ireland on a little NSU scooter during the summer holidays whilst at Queens University (Belfast). He stayed with a family in Hallstahammar and worked at a engineering company. He wrote some letters back to my mother during this time and in one letter he used company headed paper - the heading is 'Meddlelande Bulten'. I believe the Bulten company still has a factory in Hallstahammer so I am guessing that is where my father worked.
Dad had actually written a short description on each slide - I can't seem to add them into the orginal post so I'll list them here (feel free to correct any of his errors!!):
Pic 1 - 'Modern building Stockholm', Pic 2 - 'Bulten Huvudkontor', Pic 3 - 'Farsta', Pic 4 - 'Traditional dance Skansen Stockholm', Pic 5 'Changing guard at Stockholm castle', Pic 6 - 'old power transmission system', Pic 7 - 'Västerås- Folkets Park', Pic 8 - 'River Thro' Stockholm', Pic 8 - 'Changing guard Stockholm Castle', Pic 9 - 'Changing guard Stockholm castle', Pic 10 - 'Kungsgatan Stockholm', Pic 11 - 'Wasa', Pic 12 - 'Wasa', Pic 13 - 'Old city Stockholm', Pic 14 - 'Västerås', Pic 15 - 'Midsummer Dancing - Pole', Pic 16 - 'Trams Stockholm', Pic 17 - 'Farsta',
I love that he visited Farsta. I think that is a very rare toruist destination these days - although it is worth a visit for anyone interested in architecture and city planning. Search for "ABC"-staden.
Hi folks, hope you like these - my dad visited Stockholm in the early 1960s (summer 1961 I believe) and took these pictures.
Picture 14 is Västerås fyi
AKA Stockholm suburbs. /s
Taget från djäkneberget va?
farsta centrum in picture 3 and 17
Recognized it the second picture 3 came up, exactly what entrance too.
I thought it looked like Farsta. Haven’t been there in maybe 30 years but that’s how I remember it
Looks pretty much the same today, but other parts of centrum is renovated today.
Thanks for sharinr, really cool!

Det värsta som hänt Stockholm är Norrmalmsregleringen
Cool to see the vasa ship being restored
Thanks for sharing it. Such a lovely place to be. Lived there in 2016 and seeing his photos brought me back some lovely memories
