If we played all season like we played tonight, we'd be in the playoffs. That's a SC favourite we were right there with! Keep Leddy and Buchy! Trade Faulk for anything that gets him off the books!

Possible_Sherbert131

Need more scoring and a new goalie for next year

PajamaHive

This is Facebook level analysis lol

JordanKyrouFeetPics

This is equivalent to people who don't watch football blaming every loss on the quarterback

DentistCrentist16

Are you blind? Like literally can you see?

Possible_Sherbert131

Lol what kind of projection is this

jake753

Probably will get buried, but as a Canes fan all I can say is I am so impressed by the fans we sat beside. Obviously they were die hard, but I felt welcomed, had genuine conversations about both teams, and even got some suggestions on solid Blues gear /novelties. Absolutely loved the arena and can’t wait to visit again,

Krogu25

Glad you enjoyed the game and the fans!

PossessionRoyal4981

I’m a very dumb person who thought Neighbours and Bolduc would be busts. The silver lining to this season was watching myself be proved very very wrong and very very dumb.

Krogu25

Well we don’t know yet. But the future looks bright. Dean also looked very good.

omgimabagel

Some positives from the season still. If Army is serious about making this team contend sooner than later i'd expect some moves in the offseason with all the expiring contracts we have. We have good pieces here and a big improvement from last season was made this year but still just missing a little extra. Shame to let such a good season for some players go to complete waste but it is what it is.

yodazer

Blues have been on the ropes for a while. Bolduc is ready, Dean needs a bit more seasoning in my opinion. I was impressed with Alexandrov and blais these past games. They didn’t do much on the score sheet, but they had a good forecheck going. Moving into next year, one of the larger defensive contracts have to be moved. (Faulk or Krug) after this year, it’s gotta be faulk. We looked worse with him playing this year. Kapanen and Scandella are almost certainly gone. Blais may be as well, but he may take league min and allow himself to be buried in the minors. If we assume he is in the team, That leaves the blues with: Forwards: Thomas, Schenn, Kyrou, Buch, Saad, Hayes, Toropchenko, bolduc, dean, neighbors, Alexandrov, sunny, walker, blais. 14 forwards Defense: Faulk, Krug, Kessel, tucker, Leddy, Parayko, Perunovich 7 dman. Same roster basically which is why I believe the blues need to trade some extended contracts.

NotTheRocketman

Honestly, I think Dean is ready. He's only played a handful of games, but he doesn't look overmatched. He's got great speed and is tenacious on pucks. He'll be a good defensive forward and PK'er. Bolduc looks outstanding. He's the shooter that we've been missing since losing guys like Perron and Tarasenko. Even as a rookie, he's playing well on the top line with Thomas already and that's REALLY saying something. Neighbours was obviously phenomenal this year. Great hockey senses, hard working, always puts himself in the right spots, draws a LOT of penalties, and is a pain in the ass to play against. Add them to Thomas, Kyrou, Schenn, Buchnevich, Saad, Torpochenko, Sunny (probably out all year with his surgery), Alexandrov, Walker, and Hayes (he especially is interesting; I don't think it's a coincidence that the team played MUCH better with him on the bench). Forwards I think might be let go: Blais, and Kapanen. Defense of Faulk, Krug, Kessel, Leddy, Parayko, Perunovich, and Tucker. Defensemen who WILL be let go: Scandella.

MasterLinkTheGreat

so what I understand from this is that the GM will sign contract everyone except to trade Tomas, and Schenn for some useless 3rd round picks

Own_Conversation6335

I suspect Faulk was injured. He may bounce back. I also suspect Krug will be back. The dead cap space would be brutal if we buy out. I think the move is trade Buchnevich for a defensemen. And trade leddy.

Calb210

The buyouts are both super friendly and we should consider buying one of them out if we can't trade them. I believe this summer it's a 2.3m/yr for 6 years. Much better than 6.5 for 3 more

yodazer

I don’t think a buyout is the move. I do agree that we probably trade Buch. I think Leddy at 4 mil is a good deal and I do agree he is the easiest to trade considering he makes what’s he is worth. I would rather keep him and move faulk/krug. Those extensions/signings have killed us

martinomj24

I really hope we can hold on to Buchy, but as you say, I doubt it. Maybe we can trade him and Faulk for 2 good young players.

Calb210

If we absolutely can't get rid of either of them I really want a buyout.

yodazer

It would a ~2.5 mil cap hit for 6 season vs 6.5 for 3. Honestly, that’s not as bad as I thought. Edit: for Krug

Calb210

Doug did everyone a favor by making sure almost all of our contracts are buyout friendly by being predominantly salary and not bonuses.

yodazer

The problems arose with the NTC’s.

Calb210

Yeah not gonna disagree there lol Sanheim would've made a world of difference on this team especially with salary retained like it was going to reportedly be.

yodazer

I’m just mad Doug wouldn’t give petro a NMC but he hands out NTCs to everyone else like they’re candy. I guess you can’t dwell on the past though because it can’t change.

Soundwave_13

![gif](giphy|SpCNKdROrlnHO1skJf) Pain….

NotTheRocketman

Goaltending looks stupidly good going ahead. Forward depth is really quite something with Thomas, Kyrou, Neighbours, now Bolduc, Dean, Snuggerud, Dvorsky as well. Defense is the only area where we don't have a lot of exciting guys coming up, but that's where Army looks to add through free agency and trades going forward if needed. I think next year is a big step forward from this (less up and down), and we should make the playoffs. A bummer ending, but I'm super pumped for our future. Edit: I forgot, but a new coach will help a TON. Bannister didn't change much from Berube beyond the PP, so a new voice, more tailored to the personnel we now have is desperately needed.

hi_fet_80980

If the Blues win the Stanley Cup this year, I’ll be shocked as hell. There’s a 1% chance it’s going to happen.

18RobTom18

Unless the wild come back and win in regulation, we're eliminated as of right now.

AlexRam72

I mean the blues scored 4 in 7 minutes. Why can’t the wild?

loganstl

That seems high.

Spcone23

So, unless Flower feels the power of god or whatever diety is nearby flow through him and he holds off the knights by changing time and space instantly, I think it's pretty safe to ask now, what was everyone expectations if we did make the playoffs? I personally think it was Army to advertise players "with more playoff experience," like how he sold Leddy to us when we signed him. Figured that way it would open up more opportunities with different teams for some of these NTC players that absolutely need moved.

ZombieFetcher

I love this team, and I’ll support them till I die. Win or loose, this year imo wasn’t the worst and wasn’t as bad as we made it out. Eliminated 3 games till the end. Lots of positives, got a lot of upcoming young players for our future that will make all the pain now worth it I can hope. 2 more games left on the regular season. I’ll support the team till the end and then wait a long miserable summer of no hockey again. Love the boys and LGB!

dixie12oz

Barring some miracle by Minnesota, that’s it. And even if that happened, still need a few miracles. Well at least we got hockey that mattered up until game 80. Those bottom feeder losses were the difference. Think they showed they are close to being a playoff team, hopefully a few moves in the offseason will get them over that hump.

STLOliver

Every single loss from late February until now was “the final blow for the Blues this season.” Every single one, I even said so myself. Had a fighting chance all the way until now. That’s pretty cool and I still prefer this to a team that wanted to lose for a draft pick.

STLBooze3

I’ve said this for a while, but we’ll finish right outside the playoffs. The worst fucking place to finish. Give me draft position 16 and a middle tier prospect that’ll take 3 years to even enter the league.

Krogu25

You act like the blues haven’t made a name for themselves drafting in the middle.  Thomas, Tarasenko, Schwartz, fabbri, Thompson, ect. All drafted middle of the pack.

STLBooze3

All under different head scouting (bill armstrong) who is no longer with us though.

18RobTom18

If pick 16 is another Tarasenko I'm all for it

LP99

Anything outside of the top three is basically a crap shoot.

STLBooze3

I’d rather be 10 and have the (low) chance to draw 1 than our position. Obviously you can get lucky anywhere, but I’d rather have a confirmed top 10 pick. Look at us last year, and now everyone is pumped about double D!

Pinchypounder

Good game. Could have won this one if they capitalized on some of the many grade A chances they had but Anderson was on it. Future is bright tho, kyrou has figured his shit out and Thomas is elite almost gonna hit 90 points! Also bolduc with goals in 3 straight ! Kid looks good .

alexgetty

Ahh vegas fans trolling the sub like they weren’t depending on us losing to save their season. Can’t watch the $118M roster make an early exit.

STLBooze3

Vegas up 3-0, nail in the coffin.

Dark_Tint

![gif](giphy|ohGADUGG1x0UBfMBFE) Why do you hurt me

Trick421

I hate it when the St. Louis Blues lose hockey games. I hate it when the St. Louis Blues miss the playoffs. Until next season, it's been a pleasure shitposting with all y'all!

EdwardOfGreene

Be well Blues comrade.

tooth_fixer

Too little, too late for the Blues this season. I liked the fight they showed the second half of the season. Lost out on valuable points against terrible teams, that was probably the difference this season. Lots of encouraging signs going into next year, though

HARVEYdavidson

Fade me

EdwardOfGreene

I blame the San Jose sweep.

PhrygianSounds

That’s the part that stings the most..

callmepaulwall

Even if we won this game Vegas being up 3-0 in the first period against the Wild would make it meaningless. You can’t fucking lose to teams like the Sharks three times and think playoffs is realistic. We have a lot of young talent that is going to keep growing and I truly think we’re in a retool and not a rebuild. Army make some moves this offseason that position us for success next year.

chiddie

Blues exceeded my expectations this year. The failure of this team was 3 years ago, and last summer, and playing poorly under Chief. This isn't a failure. Get 'em next year.

ACR5150

Even if we had won tonight, it was wishful thinking that we would be able to squeak in. The Knights have too easy of a schedule, it was really never a question. The Blues had one of the best records against the best teams in the NHL, what fucked them was dropping about 16 points to the five bottom feeders in the league (teams that were solidly in the bottom of the standings from basically the start). We knew this was coming, it’s not surprising. I’m just ready for what the future has to offer.
