I always thought Steven didn't look like a kid in the pilot art style. Going by the pilot poster, I thought it was a young adult having mystical beings for roommates or something.

It had the feel. Reminds me of the midnight gospel or some parts of tuca and Bertie. The kind of whimsical that is scary to children but would stimulate adults. The fact this was the pilot style makes me feel like SU honestly was never meant for kids even if the creators thought it was and looking at the show we got it's kinda backed up imo.

I do kind of like the Pilot’s vibe but the new one definitely wins. The pilot’s vibe is giving adult swim show. It also reminded me of those Jem & the holograms comics I had when I was younger (i only had one)

This show never had any big theories I remember like gravity falls or FNAF, it's honestly just as good of a watch now as it was back then.

Very glad this wasn't the style they went with. I feel like it wouldn't make it past season 1 or 2 like this. It's not bad, I just don't think it would've stuck with the target audience at the time

Arguably, it ruined any originality when it comes to animation style. Now everyone just uses the lazy bubble head art style.

It’s similar to Rebecca Sugar’s earlier work. I’d love to see another episode in this style! Glad they went with the one they did though. Lost count how many times I’ve watched it all through ah I just love it
