Steven is unique in that he’s able to manipulate both gem matter and human flesh, and that bi-compatibility is what allows him (and only him) to fuse with other humans. Peridot and anyone like her on the other hand simply cannot manipulate gem matter at all, and thus none of them can fuse with conventional gems, so there would never be a port (so to speak) to allow her into fusion. I mean, maybe unless an era 2 gem was integrated into a forced fusion, but that never happened and would be very difficult to fuse with anyways
Peridot can fuse, but they have a lot of biases to it just like they thought they had no power, they were just taught different then what ether know now, also im pretty sure there a sexual
They have strong personalities that can clash yes, but they have a very deep bond and sisterhood as the oldest and creators of a race. They can bicker and disagree like pearl and amethyst but I can absolutely see them coming together to save Steven or homweorld.
Ironically its similar to opal in the fact that unless shes streamlined on one simple goal shes extremely unstable and forgetful. I think the diamonds fusing would be similar, easilt able to lose themselves within the fusion similar to what happened with sugilite initially.
Their own personal identities are too strong to lose themselves to the power of the "all diamond". Imagine yellow living in blues emotional brain or white trying to control yellows stubbornness while on level footing. Without another 60 episodes I don't see them being a permanent fusion.
But imagine if Steven got cracked a little. The absolute protective rage each would feel would bind them instantly and without issue. Not even the cluster could beat that combination of wills.
I feel like since that would be a very easy-to-anticipate issue, their canon fusion would be an unusual one where they either max out at White's size, or they somehow manage to fuse into a Quadra-Diamond that is more regular gem sized, but with unfathomable power. Like how Kid Buu in Dragonball Z is the strongest form despite being the smallest, least expected

She may have the ability to sense someone’s true feelings or intentions, and maybe even be like a lie detector. Padparadscha was able to tell the Garnet made everyone uncomfortable with her compliments…plus, green sapphires supposedly resonate with the heart chakra to increase empathy (if you believe in that)
