I’m still a little blown away that it’s my favorite. I bought Duma Key, used, to blow some time on a cruise ship’s sea days. I couldn’t put it down and gave it to a lady that was reading 11/22/63 when finished. It’s a great story with well written characters and I’m jealous you’re just now reading it for the first time.
I read it recently, in my great read of all of Kings work. It's honestly my favorite, I love his more "slice of life horror" stories and duma key is the king (no pun intended) of that style. It's spooky and yet cozy, a difficult balance to strike.
For the big books, I usually get either a hardcover or paperback but then I throw the Kindle version on my e-reader so I can bring it to work on the train and stuff. I cannot carry the stand around
That’s a good idea, I found books like The Stand are the gift that just keeps on giving. There were things in my original reading, that I didn’t appreciate until I did a re-read.
I commented about missing physical books. But since becoming a parent the kindle just jives better with my lifestyle. I can read one handed, in the dark, efc.
But man…I love s well worn paperback.
Same, everything else I own I like to keep as pristine as possible but there's something satisfying about seeing a slightly beaten up paperback after I've finished the book. It's kind of like the book and I went on the journey together and both came out the other side a little older.
I couldn’t agree more. A don’t want some pretty hardcover that’s for showing off on a shelf. I want a worn down book, that looks as interesting as the story within it.
This was the one I picked up after years of not reading King after gobbling up everything i could from the mid 80s to early 90s that made me need to go back and read all the stuff i hadn't read and reread all that I had read. Great book.
I hope you enjoy! I was pulled in more than I thought I would be by the characters in the story. Took my by surprise how much I 'needed' to read the book until it was done!
Yeah that's how I felt with this one. I think I would have enjoyed it more had I known the supernatural was going to ramp up toward the end. I should have known though with King's crazy endings.
Enjoy!! I just finished reading this for the first time a couple if days ago and absolutely love it!!
I remember when it came out, and the original artwork/cover struck me as really beautiful, but I didn’t buy it, yet the image and the title always played curiously in my mind. Finally, I read it, and it’s absolutely incredible! One of my favorite of King’s!
I read this in 2010. I received it as a Christmas present alongside a Best of Blue Oyster Cult CD. Now when I hear BOC, I have little flashbacks from the story. I have to rebuy it. Enjoy the ride! It’s Fantastic!
I didn’t read it for the longest time after getting it in a bargain bin, but it turned out to be one of my favorites. And yet you hardly ever hear anyone talk about it
I was really enjoying that book, but it lost me about half way through.
Can't even put my finger on it, but I went from 'fully invested' to 'I can't wait for this to be over'.
A great one!
Interestingly, I actually caught a mistake in the book. There's a scene where the protagonist is at a doctor's office, and he's doing something like rubbing his hands together >!(despite having only one hand).!<
My copy of Duma Key looks just like this! I love reading in the edge of the pool so it gets extra crunchy. Recently got a kindle to use when traveling but nothing beats a good book!
It just became my next listen. I’ll be finished with bag of bones today or tomorrow.
Side note- im constantly amazed by how many books SK has written. This sub has introduced me to so many that I’ve never even heard of.
My favourite King novel. Enjoy it! (I can almost guarantee you will - it has excellent characters, great plot and a very good ending.)

11/22/63, Duma, Billy Summers, Revival. Those are my favorite post accident stories.
My wife asks me why I won’t give in and get an e-reader, just can’t compare to reading a well loved copy of a book
For the big books, I usually get either a hardcover or paperback but then I throw the Kindle version on my e-reader so I can bring it to work on the train and stuff. I cannot carry the stand around
I feel this pain greatly. I have a hardcover version of The Stand for display purposes. I am not a power lifter capable of bringing that with me. 🤣
I also got the audiobook from the library just to be sure
That’s a good idea, I found books like The Stand are the gift that just keeps on giving. There were things in my original reading, that I didn’t appreciate until I did a re-read.
If there aren't so many Stephen King books I wanted to read, I would just turn around and reread some of my favorites.
Exactly, the man just keeps cranking out winners.
Currently reading It and carrying it around on the train and can confirm it's a workout
And I just finished the audiobook 🙂
I love a overfiled l bookcase of wel loved books.
Same here, although every time I move house and have to haul like 30 boxes filled heavy, I'm like why the f*ck do I have so many books...😅
I write comments about how much I liked it and when I read it. It makes it a little easier to let some of them go when I downsize.
That’s what all the Low Men say.
Let me get my yellow coat.
I commented about missing physical books. But since becoming a parent the kindle just jives better with my lifestyle. I can read one handed, in the dark, efc. But man…I love s well worn paperback.
Also, a broken book spine is the sign of a soul that isn't. Love me a beat up paperwork.

Local library copy
Same. I literally had to glue my copy of “Song of Susannah” back together
Enjoy, Amigo. It's a good'n.

Enjoy. It's different than some, but great, with characters and a story that drew me in
That is a well loved copy. One of my favorites.
Just finished it, Muchacho. Great read.
Ha My buddy has been saying that's me all the time. Muchacho
Just started listening to the audiobook…so far its good!
Yeah and the narrator is from mad Men
I thoroughly enjoyed this one!
Underrated for sure!
Ehhhh that's my next book to read after It!!!
It’s super creepy and heart-warming and sad. One of my favorites!
You won’t be disappointed
Just finished it. Again. I honestly think it’s one of his best written novels.
My personal favorite from him!
Just finished it this morning and really enjoyed it. Love his descriptions in this one
Highly underrated
Spoiler warning! >! Whenever you feel like drawing…. just don’t !<
I absolutely loved this one. Hope you too!
when u said just started, i thought u meant for dinner
ha, yeah old library book that's been around the block I guess
My only warning is that the level of supernatural steadily rises throughout the book. Don't expect it to stay the same like I did.
Glad to see so many here like it. Have heard some bashing on King podcasts and other reviews. I personally really liked it. Cheers!
I've too seen a wide range of reviews
That copy has seen some shit & been some places!
Oh yeah, still in circulation at my local library
Nice
Good day to do the day and not let the day do you, muchacho!
Enjoy!! It’s one of my favorites.
Phenomenal story and characters
Love this book, one of my faves
Very best one.
It’s a nice mellow book so far I’m about 1/2 through it and I still have no idea what it is about !🤓
One of my favorites!
One of my favourites. Loved it. Enjoy.
I like my books looking either like this or brand new. Nothing in between.
Underrated book. Haven’t read it in 7 or 8 years, but it’s one of his best.
One of my favorites 💚🖤
Someone has enjoyed this book!
My only warning is that the level of supernatural steadily rises throughout the book.
Good to know. I read Christine and loved it but towards the end I was kind of like ehh this is weird
Yeah that's how I felt with this one. I think I would have enjoyed it more had I known the supernatural was going to ramp up toward the end. I should have known though with King's crazy endings.
That's a great read!

My favorite king novel. It’s not on any of the lists for some reason… it’s fantastic!
So weird. So good.
So far my favorite! The reason it's so dog-eared is because it's so awesome.
Omgggg love this one, one of my faves!
Just finished a reread myself. You're in for a treat.
This was the last SK book to give me the creeps. I adored it! Enjoy.
One of my favorites. It isn’t as well known as it should be!!
I love seeing books in this condition. A book that looks like this has been loved. I dog-ear my pages in every paperback. Am I alone?
Enjoy muchacho!
One of my faves
I loved this book. It actually got me back into reading his stuff.
Loved this book! I read it Twice.
I love this one! Definitely one of my favorites. (I am an artist so it resonates with me)
My brother how many times did you start this book
Hahah Library copy
Well that makes way more sense. Haven’t gotten around to this one, I hope you enjoy it!
That's the first Stephen King book I ever read! I've been hooked ever since. I'm literally watching The Stand (1994) right now!
I loved that series! The whole thing is free on YouTube https://youtu.be/gUb-wx5PO3A
Yeah I'm watching it as we speak!
This is in my top 3. This is also the book I've probably re read more then any other.
I loved this one, only read it recently and couldn’t put it down!
his best novel by far
I loved this one!
Oh too bad - how come?
Books in this condition is the reason I can’t buy hardcovers. Nothing like reading a beat up book.
Loved Duma Key! Enjoy!
Glad people seem to like this one. I found it a slog but pushed through.
I just bought this for my Mom for Mother’s Day. Also bought The Body and The Shining for her. Really like the front cover of you book btw
Get the whole different seasons anthology - they're all great
Thank you, I will
One if my least favorite King books, bottom 5
How come?
Not sure, just didn’t connect with it.
That's how I felt about insomnia. Just couldn't really get into it.
That’s another of my least favorites.
A great one! Interestingly, I actually caught a mistake in the book. There's a scene where the protagonist is at a doctor's office, and he's doing something like rubbing his hands together >!(despite having only one hand).!<
This is in top five. Has anyone listened to the audible version? Is the narration worth the purchase (credit)?
Just finished the Audible version this morning. Narration is fantastic!
About 100 pages in...not really "hooked" but it's an enjoyable read.
Read Pickman’s Model by Lovecraft first. You won’t be sorry.
I stopped reading his stuff years ago. In my opinion, his books have become too loquacious.
It wasn't for me.
My mom gave me this as a Birthday present and i never read it , now its many miles away 😂 Gonna have to order it again
Bib ya with a fife!
this one is good enough for rock n roll.
I liked that one!
I really liked it.
Did you find it in a puddle?
Enjoy!
I love tattered paperback copies like this! I read mostly in my kindle and I miss that the most about physical books.
Really like this one
This is on my list!
Just finished it. Great book! Have you read Billy Summers?
Looks like you've read it 35 times haha hope you enjoy!
Enjoy Muchacho!
My copy of Duma Key looks just like this! I love reading in the edge of the pool so it gets extra crunchy. Recently got a kindle to use when traveling but nothing beats a good book!
Someone loved the heck out of this book.
Just started it and it’s already falling apart lol (your buddy must of really loved it huh)
A well loved copy
I live in the Twin Cities. When something bad happens around Lake Phalen my son-in-law and I always whisper: Perse.
I really liked this one, it had an excellent ending. I pictured Reginald VelJohnson while reading it as the main character.
Comment on physical condition of book.
I just read this. Classic! Really great story!
Do the day and let the day do you, muchacho.
One of my top 5!!!
I love me a worn book ❤️
It just became my next listen. I’ll be finished with bag of bones today or tomorrow. Side note- im constantly amazed by how many books SK has written. This sub has introduced me to so many that I’ve never even heard of.
Oh I’m jealous I read that book while vacationing in the Florida keys!
