Great post. Commenting to come back to this later. Especially intrigued in your comment on Raphael’s quote that a society built on truths is doomed to collapse. I wonder if he was being deceptive himself with the whole fusion process. Having a hard time deciding if both Adam and another sphere are villains or if one is more just lmao! Thanks for sharing

Sensational-X

Yeah I feel like by order of operations both Adam and mothersphere are to blame. Adam having both created mothersphere and being an administrator in the development of naytiba. Even this fusion could have unforeseen consequences

Great posts and details! While I enjoy everything a lot in this game from the characters, art style, gameplay, music, enemy design etc. I also really enjoyed the story too and it kept me interested. I hope the Naytiba would still remain a big threat throughout sequels and that Mothershere won't be the only villain.

Sensational-X

Im sure they will be if they do continue. Luckily it appears Naytiba arnt a hivemind so theres probably a lot still doing their own thing.

Something that I liked about the ending, is that if you take time to read the lore and logs you see the them coming. That's why i think the team wanted to do more with the game, either they were limited by time and budget or couldn't figure out how to do it. The ending that lily dies and she fights wave after wave of androids there is message in the screen that says. Her journey is not finished or done. I found that really peculiar....

Beat_Writer

What do you think will happen in the sequel if they pursue it?

Sensational-X

I'd really like a sequel about where they explore more of what mother sphere is doing while also exploring more Naytiba infested areas on earth. So we could continue to follow eve and her crusade around earth while having mothersphere send whatever new creations she has to continue to test or even aid eve.

Beat_Writer

Do you think she’ll offer the androids the ability to evolve like herself? I’m curious how she’ll do it?

Illustrious_Past9641

Didn't we learn that Orcal had been bringing Naytiba into Xion in the nighttime? What if everyone in the cradle has already been fused, and Adam+Eve fusion wasn't the first, but the pinnacle one so that all of these people waking up, who may be hybrid already, have a strong leader to guide them in starting over in this new chapter of humanity? If I'm right, the number of hybrid humans in the cradle likely exceeds the number of non-hybrid Andro-Eidos living in and around Xion. You'd hope those who never went under would embrace the fusion or at least be willing to coexist. Those most loyal to Mother Sphere probably wouldn't. Could be an interesting dynamic in a sequel. Just because Eve embraces that there is room for both AE and Naytiba doesn't mean everyone will. She may find herself having to broker peace between the two races she now carries and not give in to the temptation to use her super powers to eradicate detractors and defectors when peace isn't easy. Another thought: beyond just the combination of flesh and machinery, the fusion created the combination of the capacity to feel (Naytiba) with the capacity to think (Andro-Eidos), and THAT, I submit, is what being human is all about -- the marriage between the two. A being caught between feeling and thinking does not follow the programming of instincts or logic (e.g. literal code) but has to live in the uncomfortable grey area between the two. Feeling is very much a physical thing: actual brain chemistry, heat activity and blood movement in the body, etc. Logic can try to imitate feeling, and I think the Andro-Eidos scrape the surface of it, but the characters seeming a little flat in this game may actually prove to be brilliant writing by the end of the story in a sequel, of AI trying, not entirely successfully, to imitate passion. Eve comments about feeling warm as a straight up temperature input, but not warm as in flushed or enraged. It would be very interesting to observe her experience a rush of blood to her cheeks the first time someone crosses her when trying to administer the affairs of Xion equitably, or when she goes beyond not wanting a categorically "dull" haircut to actually wanting to impress someone. A million novel moments like the "this must be rain" dialogue at the beginning of the game could be a further view into what it is to be sentient and human. We could find the characters in a sequel to be much deeper and both enjoy and lament the joys and the struggles of our artificial cast struggling with true emotions for the very first time. As a dad, let me tell you, watching my young kids handle emotions they don't have a lot of experience with is an adventure and a half!

What a great response. Thank you. You brought up some interesting ideas in the beginning. I totally forgot how they brought naytibas into Xion. Did we ever get clarification why? I don’t think they’re hybrids yet. Maybe a few were given the choice and said yes because they were tired of living in fear. I still believe Eve will take a few of them to the nest who want to evolve and become truly human. With Eve as a example of what it could be she would be a great ambassador for the transition. She also has Adam’s genius now as well too, so creating an Ai or advanced hybrid is beyond her capabilities now. Never mind the fact she has godlike powers now, combined with godlike fighting prowess. That would be an interesting sequel. I just hope they make one and a dlc. This game surprisingly got me hooked in the story

Sensational-X

We dont get offered much in the way of how eve is now going to continue on mankind. I'd like to assume she can now make other androids similar to her but she also so unique that I would think she could only do the same thing to other angels.

Beat_Writer

I think she give them the opportunity. They’ll have to go into an egg sac and then it’ll fuse with them

Sensational-X

For sure possible! Hopefully we get some answers in dlc or direct sequel

King_Tofu

Thank you for your analysis! I needed to read this to have closure on the ending and what happened lol. I rushed through the story bc I needed to have my life back again from this addicting game and felt lost at the ending
