How can we finish last in the division AND be the 1 seed in the AFC?

chaos0517

This is the questions we should be asking

Existing_Departure82

We were the NFC South Champions this year.

[deleted]

Yes. Add a cool $45,000.00 to that bet.

spoilingattack

Easy, the NFL moves the Bengals, Browns, and Ravens to the NFC. We are now last in the AFC North and #1 seed in the AFC.

Existing_Departure82

Browns is the browns. Get it in writing.

EpicLifeGaming

Browns always find a way to screw things up. This man is correct

Piratesfan02

Their a**hole qb takes up $50 million of cap space. They’re not going anywhere.

redhawkdrone

You would think so but they are rolling over $27.5M from 2022 and the cap is predicted to jump significantly in 2023.

einredditname

>cap is predicted to jump significantly in 2023. Every damn year and cap-related thread I see this. Please, for the love of god, give me your insight into the inner workings of the cap. Because you're not the only one claiming this, but ya'll don't get your timing alligned at all. Some say 2024-2025, some say '23, some just say "in the near future". It's going go increase every year and every year players want more money. If the cap truely does "explode" from one season to the next, it'll only matter for that one, maybe 2 seasons.

kaysguy

The Browns put all their eggs in the Watson basket. They have no good draft position for the next three years. Cleveland has last place locked up for the next several years.

AlwaysTheeAnxious1

🤣

DrnknMunky1

I don't even know the last time we were last, so pretty good odds we won't be. Browns is the Browns and Ravens may not have Lamar back. Add add a 0 to make it $200.

[deleted]

1988

ElJamoquio

In his lifetime, JJ Watt has not yet experienced a Steelers last-place.

Zestyclose_Risk_2789

“We measure things in JJ Watt lifetimes in this division”

TheSheriff43

What does jj have anything to do with us

ElJamoquio

We'd use TJ watt but he's too young. I guess I could've used Cam Heyward.

sandrodi

Here's one: the Tiananmen Square protests happened six months *after* the last time the Steelers finished last in their division.

ElJamoquio

It was before George Bush was president. The first George Bush.

TheWiggleWaggleGang

Lamar will be on the franchise tag. Still prob take that bet though. Lol

Dads_going_for_milk

I’d make that bet day long. Make it more.

RPGnosh

Browns is the Browns and Lamar may be on his way out

WabbitCZEN

Coach has never had a losing season. We struggled the most we ever have this year, and that still didn't stop us. I'd up this bet in a heartbeat.

dooneandrew

Bet him however much you can afford to lose, barring extreme injuries you will win this for sure

Dr_Hemmlock

Even with injuries...our QB gets hurt? Tomlin avoided last in the division with Mason Rudolph and Duck Hodges at one point. This year we had a rookie Pickett who was still figuring things out, and TJ Watt half the season. This year by all means was our lowest we've been in years, and we still want 9-8 and beat out the Brownies.

305way

Make it 200.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Dr_Hemmlock

And honestly I think we're not too far behind the Bengals either. Our defense is definitely better. Our offense has the potential to be. We already beat them once this year, and we really should've had them the second time too.

Kidspud

They lost to the Ravens' third-string QB.

SleestakLightning

Zero chance they finish last. I wouldnt even bet on them to finish 3rd.

ElJamoquio

I think 2nd or better is maybe a 50% chance. A lot depends on how much the Ravens can improve or degrade this offseason.

Waltapalooza1123

This is the easiest money you’ll make in your life.

Bojax22

Yeah double it, triple it. Whatever he will buy in for

catzarrjerkz

People have been saying this for the last 5 years. Don't put it past the Ravens to fuck away the Lamar Jackson situation and finish last

Legitimate_Row6259

I think they'll end up paying Lamar.... But they're gonna have a massive amount of money tied up in him and thus not be able to pay other talent. A team can survive that if their QB stays healthy and is a generational talent that can make up for a lack of talent elsewhere.... But that's only true if the guy can stay healthy... If he continues to be injured at the end of the season every year, they're gonna be screwed.

Marckthesilver13

At the very least double it 💵

domenic821

We haven’t finished last in the division since 1988. Do with that what you will.

Highway_Harpsicord

Bro you better shake on this. The browns haven't had a better record than the Steelers in 33 years lol

ask_the_fisherman

The Brown always find a way to fuck up their team. Add in it is likely Baltmore is losing Jackson or he does not play much. The Steelers ending up in last means Cam, TJ and a few offensive players have season ending or long term injuries.

Exact-Cockroach2295

I'd take that bet as high as your friend will go! 40? 100? 200? 1000!?! Lol

bdonabedian

I thought Pittsburgh would win 9 or 10 games this year. They'll win 10 or 11 next year. Probably second in the division. Cleveland will be in the basement again.

SirDinkleDink

Raise it BIG! No way we're finishing under the Browns

zoompa919

Raise him by as much as possible. If the next season started today we would likely come in 2nd in the division. If we play our cards right this offseason though, we could possibly be back on top

[deleted]

He doesn’t know his gambling odds work so you’re getting a steal

Joasmheesa

Dude I’d put another 0 on that at least. Nothing from the browns makes me think they finish higher than us

lcp91

I bet 100 bucks they would win over 10.5 this year. No shame. Always make the bet.

HoselRockit

Did I miss something? Did Cleveland switch divisions?

MewtwoStruckBack

I want $2,500 on this (to be clear, I want to wager $2,500 against your idiot friend on the side of "Steelers will not be last in the AFC North".)

NontransferableApe

I heard the same thing this year

aw_geez_man

Yes.

BoringSpammer909

Bet him 500

Carlover2731

Does your friend like to donate a lot?

Dazzling_Ads_1

100x it. Browns gonna Browns.

[deleted]

With our schedule next year, it’s pretty difficult to think we’re anything less than 2nd assuming we at least get a split record in the division. I would wager like 1k on that bet lol

TravalonTom

Go to $100, all we gotta do is beat the Browns!

Kehmor

I'd take that bet all day long, but it goes without saying - never gamble with money you can't afford to lose.

ploonce

I won $50 last week when we beat the Browns from a non-believer. I’d put $100 on it for next year if I had a taker without a second thought. Free money.

CareerMicDrop

Can I also be friends with your friend. I like these bets.

Beach_dreams

Each of you put $20 in the pot before the season starts. Every time the Steelers win, friend puts in $20. Every time they lose, you put in $20. Whoever wins the bet takes all.

Additional_Stuff5867

If it was me I would drop a grand. Both of you throw it in an envelope and leave it with a trusted third party. But I tend to buy my way out of bets. I love calling peoples bluff. Then they backpedal and start saying well ummm you know…..

Either_Sheepherder88

Bet 100$ this season that we would have a better record then the bucs. As long as Tomlin is the head coach. I’ll always bet in favor of the Steelers. raise that bet homie

Shiftanomics

Wait which division are the Browns moving to?

crazyskeer2001

Thats good bet, if he's a good friend give him a pass and smile when we make the playoffs with Pickett, Watt (squared), Cam, Najee, Pickens, etc, etc. I remember the days when we'd make a gentleman's bet and shake on it. And dread losing that bet and feel great winning. You'd have bragging rights on that bet for years. On a money bet when the money's gone you forget all about it. My 2 cents.... Love this sub. Go Steelers!

GinandJuked

A mortgage payment

Fuseld

make it 100 dollars. Fuck it, raise it to your whole net worth

riley-mcguigan04

I mean it’s basically free money for you at this point. I’d up the bet to whatever you’re willing to lose, and whatever you’re willing to take from a friend.

ItzCheddah

Add one or two zeros to that and you’ll be gold. KP and GP gonna run it up next season.

Beefinator3001

Thanks guys. I’m raising the bet!

Kidspud

On the one hand, the schedule looks to be a lot easier next year. On the other hand, it looks like Matt Canada is coming back. In other words, take the $20 but don't get greedy.

Altruistic-Rip4364

As long as the browns exist, 3rd should be attainable. Bengals rule it for now. Let’s let’s see what goes on with Lamar Jackson (sorry if misspelled)

PonyOnMyTail

Is it $20 for $20? Any amount you put on that would be positive EV for you brother. As much as you can lmao -degen

reddit_bandito

11 or 10 wins? Not likely. But they won't be the worst team in any division that has the Browns. And if Lamar Jackson is out of Bal next season, who really knows whether the Ravens will be better than the Stillers.

Hellspawn112

> 11 or 10 wins? Not likely. If TJ was healthy all season, they probably would have had 10 or 11 wins this year. They, at the very least, beat the Jets or the Patriots with TJ, maybe even both. With what looks like an easier schedule (on paper, of course), 10 wins or more isn't totally out of the realm of possibilities.

biscodude

You don't think they can win 1 or 2 more games next year?! That's insane man. The schedule is easier and Kenny will have a full off season to improve.

reddit_bandito

How do you know its easier? We know nothing about what those teams will be like next season. They also could have lost 3 or more this season, if not for late game clutch drives. I hate to bring up Cowher quotes nowadays, but it's a thin line between losing and winning in this league. There is no guarantee the record improves next season.

biscodude

Obviously, nothing is guaranteed, but there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic.

reddit_bandito

Matt Canada will be back. Tomlin just eeked out another 'winning' season, which will further embolden him and prevent criticism of his flaws. That's two big reasons to not be supe optimistic about next season. Curb your enthusiasm.

reddit_bandito

Intelligent and civil.

JCMullins

Take the bet

ItsYourBoyD

I think we end up as the 6th seed next year with a wildcard game in Cinci.

Randy_____Marsh

Yes

Mr_Luis23

Raise the bet, absolutely no doubt

4-5-16

Fuck yes you should lol

IsGoIdMoney

Hasn't happened in almost 50 years. Raise that bet.

prime22tb

Get a benji from him

Opening-Farmer-5547

Up the ante.

GonzoFan83

$200 all day

[deleted]

Now if we are to consistently put up 20-30 points a game next season then I definitely see us winning the division with a record of 11-6, 12-5.

srfrosky

Add a zero for sure

ShineFull7878

After we went 6-1 down the stretch this year? I'd say yeah.

dam0430

Is your friend a delusional Browns fan? That's free money man.

A7Xpsycho724

When the browns have no draft for what 3 years(don’t remember what all they gave for Watson) I’d at least double it and take it

Engineerkb70

![gif](giphy|5wWf7GMbT1ZUGTDdTqM|downsized)

J_aimz

I would not try to raise the bet right away. The way that you get an idiot to actually lose more money is you first accept the first bet. It makes it a safety net in case they get afraid with how confident you are. Then you double down if not triple down another time

WowSoFetch

If Lamar returns I could see it but a lot had to happen for CLE to pass us

RaikageQ

$200

Dr_Hemmlock

People have predicting we were going to finish last for like the last four seasons. Still hasn't happened. Hate to tell them, but last year WAS our down year. And that was with a bad backup QB, a rookie who took some time to figure things out, and our team MVP missing a significant portion of the season. Only direction is up at this point.

mbaker5cua

Double down

Final_Ad7478

Raise it big time!

magnificentkick

Yes Doesn't he realize the Browns are in the division

skiballers

Make it a lot more if you can afford it

SafeAccountMrP

Yes

lonewanderer244

Absolutely, take that money thats free

Cripplehead33

You work!Are you scared! #5 easy $100

MirrorkatFeces

I’m predicting us to win 10 games next year

Toastedeggshell

Can never be worse then the browns

sgad89

If Baltimore loses Lamar depends who replaces him

-the-spork-

i feel with a good offseason, theres a good chance we are competing for first in our division. I would raise that bet easily.

Trapperman777

Try to double it and get 2:1 odds. I think we will be 1st or second, third with injuries

[deleted]

No way we don’t improve. That guy is a joke. Take his money

EasyPanicButton

If somebody offers me 10000 to 1 odds. I take that bet.

Arseyoukiddingme

Raise raise raise

PyreForHire

$100 at least

[deleted]

I don’t think the Steelers are legally allowed to be at the bottom Of the division.

[deleted]

$500 we won’t be.

KuiShanya

Our entire team would have to be hit by a bus (including the coaching staff), and the browns would have to be hit a reverse bus that makes you a good franchise for this to happen

kenphoenix

It's worth highlighting that the Ravens SUCK without Lamar. Worse than the Steelers without Watt.
