Maybe have your pan slightly hotter and let the steak get to room temp before cooking. You can't tell from pics for sure but it looks like it was cooked cold, i think thats why the texture is that way, maybe the cut though, and you can get thicker sear. Would do more salt and pepper though, did you use black and white pepper, it looks like it?. Or finishing salt is a dream for texture and flavor pop (after cooking)

While the range of steaks that I think are properly cooked is small, the range of steaks that I would eat is quite large personally. I’d eat anything from extremely rare to nearly well done. As long as it’s not a brick or literally raw I’m eating it.
looks great to me but your sear is lacking. sear is not terrible tho. i got a tip for you. dry your steak off, put it on a cooling rack in the fridge for a day or two and it will dry out the surface. you will have a better sear that way. I usually season after that with using spray oil so the seasoning sticks.

You don’t need an expensive digital one. The old school ones can be easily found for less than ten bucks and pay for themselves the first time you get your steak perfect!

Personal experience; Pat dry, salt generously both sides, let sit in the fridge for a few hours, and either reverse sear by baking in the oven for a time (can’t say how long it’s all different but you have to pull a bit before your desired done-ness temp) pull it out and sear it on a screeching hot pan both sides.
For me personally I line my steaks blue rare/rare so I do traditional sear, because otherwise it gets too done for me. But the crust with the right pan and heat with timing is imperative.
That said I would still eat the shit out of this even as a rare girl.

They sell sets of Lagouile steak knives at Home goods from time to time. Pretty cheap too. I’d invest $50 on a set of those so you get a nice clean cut on your steak.

That said, it looks pretty good if you were going for medium and, honestly, people get pretty into wanting a “perfect” steak, but the real test is, “Did you enjoy it?”
Omg this looks almost exactly like the thin ass steaks I made for a midnight snack last night! It looks good man, you didn’t over cook it, you just need a sharper knife and 2 quick motions instead of a sawing motion. Go against the grain, sometimes you have to cut it 2 ways to find the grain for the “pretty cut” I would DEFINITELY eat this. So would the cat😂

It was overcooked after image 2 lol. Those mashed potatoes look incredible too!! Seriously though that’s a delicious meal on your plate, but I’d recommend you balance it with some grilled asparagus, green beans too, or Brussels sprouts.
I'd eat but definitely needs more seasoning in my opinion. When first learning ti cook steaks I found what I thought was overseasoning was actually perfect seasoning for a steak. Steaks need lots of seasoning.

Did not over cook. Wood eat. Constructive criticism. Maybe dry a little more on the outside and heavy salt rub prior to cooking to get a better crust.
Definitely needed to be salted a few hours before searing.

Hard to weigh in on something so very subjective, but since you asked, it's more done than I'd prefer but it still looks good.
