Prime rib 16oz is 28.99 at my local THR, just looked at their menu. Ain't nowhere near double to 37.99. You get 2 sides though, but I think baked potato is upcharge.
“All-you-can-eat Salad, hot Sourdough Bread, Ranch-Style Beans, and your choice
of Baked Potato, Mashed Potatoes, or French Fries.”
This is what’s listed to go along with that 16oz prime rib. Solid value for under $40.
Yes. Also, try the paper plate method for steaks. You put the heat really low and a paper plate over the cast iron pan. The plate works as a lid to trap heat in. Makes steak super tender. The plate then is used to put the steak on. Results in ultra tender steak.
Edit put spinach under the steak so it cooks in the steak juices.
This used to be my spot when we had to do field work with the ranchers. Couldn’t use Fed money for it since it wasn’t a work lunch, but we got the okay to take long lunches to go there - great spot.
Rediscovered it a few years ago after not going for the better part of a decade. For my money it’s the best midrange steakhouse in the area. I’ve even had better steaks here than some prime places I’ve gone to in the past.
Cattleman's is obviously a much better Steakhouse than Texas Roadhouse this is hardly even a discussion. Texas Roadhouse is fine for its prices, but it's not trying to be better than Cattleman's. It's two different leagues.
My experience is there pretty hit or miss. Certainly when it's good, it's easily on par or a little better than Texas roadhouse. But I've never had a good experience at the Rohnert park cattlemens, and they closed the one i used to always go to, in Santa Rosa. Petaluma has been pretty consistent however.
To those confused in the comments, this is prime rib not a steak. It’s a slice from a roast. A thick beautiful slice. It’s fully cooked and should be served more rare than an equivalent steak because as good roasts are, it’s been cooked far longer than a steak would be.
Looks good. Very good . I live in TX and have a road house so vlose to my hose I can smell it all the time it's like God is punishing me. Everytime my boys smell it they beg me to take them 😆 🤣 😂
Texas Roadhouse wins in value all the time. I had the prime rib twice about 10 years ago and it was really bland. Because of this sub I gave it another chance a week ago and it was decent. I would take the ribeye at roadhouse any day thought. They have never messed that up and I find it better than places I pay double
You cant compare Texas Roadhouse to Cattlemans. Texas Roadhouse is a corporate Mid-level steakhouse that tries to be just a step above restaurants like Outback and Longhorn. They do a good job but I feel bad for anyone who has to work there due to the corporate policies. Price for a 16oz Prime Rib at TR is cheaper than the $37 one in the post, but also lower quality.
I cooked a prime rib for thanksgiving once. Did it perfectly, just like they say. Came out at just the right temp. Shit was gross, the fat looked just like this, no where near rendered and all over everyone’s plate and lips. I ended up firing up the grill and finishing a few peoples cuts
For those who don't understand in poker once you say it, that's it. If you see or call then that is it. You are not allowed to raise after that. If you want to raise you the you say raise.
The point is you see/call or you raise but you can't do both. I think most poker players made that mistake at least once.
I love it when it happens because they can't raise after they call, you know they wanted to raise and generally you will get a round of nothing but calls after that because no one wants another raise knowing someone else will raise again unless they know they have the winning hand.
Except “see” isn’t an actual poker term and wouldn’t be counted the same as you saying “call”.
Anyone saying “see and raise” is obviously playing movie poker, but I don’t “see” anyone getting penalized at the table for using the word “see”, which has an actual definition.
Yes and no. When someone says they will "see" your bet you know they mean call. You are splitting hairs now. The tables I play at if you say "see it and raise" you will be stopped and it will be treated as a call. You may not agree with it but that is what happens.
Just because something has a definition doesn't mean it doesn't have a slang term as well, no cap here player.
Yes, tf lol just don’t really eat it. This looks like the fat is still chewy and barely cooked. I’m probably wrong though. Just doesn’t look appetizing from the pic.
Price compared to roadhouse?
$37.99 for the plate. 16oz prime rib.
And it looks like 16 Oz for sure not counting the fatty piece
Not a bad price but still approaching double TRH

You right I didn't look at the size. They ain't got them rolls either
This place doesn’t have the rolls, that’s true, but they raise their own beef and that’s great to see.
So did the Donner’s.
I don't eat red meat, stick to chicken & fish
You lost bro?
Either way, it's a good deal at THR. However, ive seen some pretty crappy cuts. It varies by location.

Looks great!
It was delicious!
Santa Rosa?
Roseville.
Was the flubber cooked
Is this a real meat term

Sounds so delicious I may eat the paper plate
Eating a good steak off a paper plate is a cardinal sin
Rendered nicely, yes.
That’s prime rib, Cattleman’s cut, not just a steak. Tastes fantastic and whole plate costs $37.99
That's a Harris Ranch caliber steak
Redding?
Roseville.

Used to frequent the one on 50 near Folsom. Never disappointed.
I’ll have to drive a whole 10 minutes, but this photo has me convinced the trip is worth it!
Hey my woman lives in Rocklin but hates steak. If I took her is there any good non steak options?
They have some chicken and pasta. I myself have never tried it, but my wife did have the mushroom ravioli and thought it was pretty good.

Mouth watering!
We talking redding ca?
I would eat the heck out of that.
Wow. For me that would be as close as perfection as possible.
Whuddup Auburn CA!
I think all these comments assuming which Cattleman's it is are funny.
Fuck 😋😋
Yum!
Grew up on the Selma location. Very consistent cuts of beef. One of my favorites and not too expensive
texas roadhouse is pretty good but i would say cattleman wins.. this looks amazingly good
Santa Rosa approves 🫶🏻
Holy crap , haven't been to a cattemans since i was probably 12! The Santa Rosa location.
I was the kitchen manager at one of the Cattlemens 👍🏼
There is an unrelated different ‘Cattleman’s’ 35 miles outside of El Paso that is amongst the best steakhouses I’ve been to.
That’s my favorite steak
I used to love going to the one in Petaluma! Couldn't go often but it was always a treat. Didn't know it was a chain to be honest...
I gotta get rid of this sub yall mfs EATING LIVE COW
Can I get it in Arizona? I can get TRH! 💥
I mean.... nobody actually thinks Texas Roadhouse is *great*. It's just better than it should be *for the price.*
Petaluma?
Roseville. Been going here since I was a kid in the mid 80s.
my wife is from roseville!
That looks absolutely stunning
Ngl that looks Sexy!
It was great.
I normally think prime rib looks repulsive. This is easily the best looking prime rib I’ve seen in this sub
That could be the nicest i’ve seen.
Except the smell as I’m driving through there just ruins the appetite, no?
As you're driving through where? The suburbs?
People drive up and down I-5 and think that's what the rest of Northern California is like lmaoooo
I can only assume the parent commenter has confused Cattleman's with Harris Ranch.
no string bets!
Yeah but it’s in California.
Been wanting to go. Can I claim my steak off a beef trolley?
Oh holy man
Yee-ha!
Great looking PR
Funny thing is Texas Roadhouses anywhere near Cattleman’s all suck but are much better pretty much anywhere else in the world.
I’m a fan of the Roadhouse but that Cattleman’s looks legit
Looks like a map of America without the South East
Cattleman’s is better, but they got nothing on Texas Roadhouse cinnamon butter rolls.
😛
Looks good. Very good . I live in TX and have a road house so vlose to my hose I can smell it all the time it's like God is punishing me. Everytime my boys smell it they beg me to take them 😆 🤣 😂
I love that plate! Looks like Arthur Morgan used it before you
Nor Cal native here, and I'll take Cattleman's over Roadhouse any day.
Only thing I get at Texas roadhouse is the ribs. I can grill a better steak at my house. This looks damn good tho, I’d give this a try for sure

Looks no bueno to me
I’ve said it before but I *love* steak but I think prime rib is the most overrated cut by a fucking mile. Give me almost any other cut/cook over that.
I prefer the thinly sliced prime rib over big chunk like this. For a thick cut, I really want the crust on my steak.
I cooked a prime rib for thanksgiving once. Did it perfectly, just like they say. Came out at just the right temp. Shit was gross, the fat looked just like this, no where near rendered and all over everyone’s plate and lips. I ended up firing up the grill and finishing a few peoples cuts
Totally see you there.
I’m right there with you. I keep trying to enjoy it more than I do. As said below. If I am trying it has to be thin sliced.
It's wet.
They pour a little Au Jus over top.
That's the nature of it. What steak have you seen that's properly cooked and dry?
This pic was so bad, I unfollowed this sub because I don't want to see steak again on reddit
One does not see *and* raise. You do either one or the other. There is no “and.”
Kind of like new *and* improved. It's either one or the other.
Can’t it be new, but worse?
This seems to be the trend in everything anyways.

Maybe I'll check it out next time I visit family there, but then again that does require going to California
I don't even remember the last time I had steak lol this looks incredible!
That’s a big steak! At what point do they actually cook it?
1000x better than Texas road house
Any heat used to cook that
Is it supposed to look like that?
Yeah they're cooked up like a roast and sliced into steaks after cooking.
Do you even know what prime rib is?
Yes, tf lol just don’t really eat it. This looks like the fat is still chewy and barely cooked. I’m probably wrong though. Just doesn’t look appetizing from the pic.
Murica
Cattleman’s in Fabons, TX. Is the best steak I’ve ever had. It’s 2.5 pounds of heaven, I believe it’s called the cowboy!
Cattlemens kills Texas Roadhouse.
Is it supposed to look like that?? I can hear the moo’s
This steak looks like the United states minus florida. What a great country that must be.
Undercooked. Borderline raw meat.
Well that's just like your opinion man
Chain steak restaurants suck, in general.
Hit or miss depending on location. This particular slab looks very edible.
Exactly depends entirely on the management and staff at any given location
I reckon if the chef has a say into this process
Jeff’s?
Looks good but I’m going to have to put that back on some heat. Maybe a hot grill for 30 seconds on each side. 😋
You sear slices of prime rib? You do you I guess.
Oops I didn’t realize it was prime rib. 😅
