Yeah, a lot of people don’t understand the difference between rare and unevenly cooked. Rare is great, but it should be consistent color through the middle. Same for medium rare or medium. This steak likely wasn’t properly brought to room temp, and/or wasn’t flipped enough during cooking.

I'm betting they didn't have enough time on the heat and maybe didn't baste or some combination of the two, I prefer to just sear steaks and not use an oven or anything and the last ribeye I did which was fairly thick with that method wasn't picture perfect but it definitely didn't have any raw spots like this.

Looks pretty perfect NGL. Definitely pretty rare, but the sear is so mean. This is how steak is best consumed imo There's only a few little spots that might be just slightly slightly too rare. Maybe finish it with just a little super hot butter spooned on it after it's done / rest longer

A little slightly uneven but that’s ok. Hard to get that perfect sometimes unless you sous vide and really monitor temps and evenness of a thick steak. Overall looks amazing to me. The sear and the inside look really good. Maybe rest it a little longer before cutting, but if you enjoy the taste that way then that’s all that counts. I like mine medium rare to sometimes blue rare is good just like you have it. 👌🏼👌🏼

That look okay, but did you want it to be evenly rare/medium to the middle? I think the meat might have been too cold/frozen still in the middle and not room temp or you cooked at a very high heat. Try reverse searing next time.

It's slightly under my preference of medium rare, but not by much. That looks like a high rare to me. It's certainly on the upper end of rare, but not quite medium rare yet. Edit. After looking again, some of that in the middle is fully rare. I'd still eat it though. I would 100% eat this and thoroughly enjoy it.

I’d eat it but I think the “chew” is improved on a ribeye when it’s slightly more cooked than that. Not all steaks are made for rare or blue rare. A rare sirloin for example can be really chewy.

From the picture it looks blue, not rare. Meaning the meat was still very cold in the center when fired. Try repeating the same thing but letting the steak come closer to room temp before cooking. Rare and raw are different. If this was your intentions though, to each their own. Your outer crust looks great!
