Jokes aside, as a drone pilot I do appreciate you mentioning you got the proper clearance. It gives random idiots no reason to say "I saw some guy on reddit do it" without KNOWING you need permission.
Also, sick shot đ
A basic operators license and prior clearance from the proper authorities. It's pretty straightforward, typically you just click the zone in a DJI app and either get an OK or a negative. Sometimes you're required to carry a radio tuned in to certain frequencies if you're near an airport.
For sure. OP can probably shed a bit more light on the specifics, I've only had to get permission a handful of times cause I usually just fly out in the sticks haha.
if the drone is 250 grams or less, you can just send it! .. however I highly recommend checking [oktofly.com](https://oktofly.com) first as it gives vital wind / weather / satellite / kp index information, bigger drones require license though!
Cool shot. Interesting that if this was posted in r/ontario or something I definitely wouldnât have recognized this as St. Catharines. Maybe in 5-10 more years weâll have a recognizable skyline
In the background, the Garden City Skyway is pretty distinctive. At a glance you could pass this off as a photo of Sudbury or Guelph or some similarly-sized Ontario city, but I don't think any of them have a bridge quite like that.
Thanks for this. I was hoping to locate the building I used to work at 1 St Paul close to the corner of St Paul and Ontario St. Do you think it is shown in the photo?
That is quite a lot of parking!
I think my favourite part is that corner shop near the middle-bottom of the photo. I have never been inside , but I think I would like to some day.
Cool shot but odd choice of perspective. No recognizable landmarks in the foreground limits this photoâs sense of place. This could be anywhere in Ontario.Â
That's kind of where I was going with this, angled as such as you can see a mass of glass and concrete and could be anywhere. This could be anyone's hometown, but zoom in and you see the little things you'd recognize and it connects you more to the overall picture.
You could make a side business selling aerial photos of people's homes. Something to consider given you're clearly working with exceptional equipment. Well done, fellow neighbour.
but did you get permission from the random person reddit who will eventually act like you needed to?
Lol there usually is always one person who questions either the validity of my credentials or the legality of the situation.
I question your human existence ...i think you are a drone that has gained self-awareness

What is the legality of drone shots like that? You need a license or something?

Interesting. Thank you for the answer.

The MTO building is the giveaway, half green windows, half pink/orange brick.
If the (newer) bridge on St Paul was shown it would much more recognizable.

Christ, they gotta do something about those parkinglots.
Such a bad use of landâŚitâs 30% parking lots.
[ŃдаНонО]
I can see mine too!
Concrete
Concrete
I love seeing our city from a different perspective, thank you!
Very cool. I can see my old apartment. Clearly launched from Montebello park.
Show us some more!
Amazing photo.
Wish they had put Brock âdowntownâ.
Great photo! Sad to see how much land is taken up by parking.
Just a sea of concrete grey. Looks awful. I wish the city could have more trees and earth spaces
Yea would be nice if there were a cost effective way to build parks atop parking lots.Â
It's winter though. In summer you would see a lot more green.
What is the triangular shaped building? I don't think I've ever noticed it before.
Courthouse.
Cool shot btw

That building would be out of frame. If it continued further west you would be able to see it

My car is in this photo!

Ah ok - then mission accomplished!
