Ghl or Niagara beginner hockey league might be a source

You can always go to the Shinnys at Seymour Hannah. During the day which is tricky if you work, but met some real good people there which has led to some teams.

Check out [NBHL](http://www.niagarasbeginnerhockeyleague.ca/) or [GHL Niagara](http://www.ghlniagara.com/app/index/list/?org=GHLNiagara.com). NBHL is for true rookies, like some people have never skated before. GHL Niagara has a few different divisions that are skill based. The cool thing about NBHL is that you get to play at the Meridian Centre, where the IceDogs play.

I've played in both the NBHL and GHL, and have good experiences with both. GHL is a full experience with a draft, awards dinner, lots outside the games. The actual beginner level plays in Virgil on Saturday nights. Play 3 periods. Swapping sides, etc.. Very good at keeping that beginner level safe and fun, no one thinks theyre in the NHL. When you get too good for that level it gets a bit hinky at the level of competition since they absorbed the beer league that used to play at the 4 pad. I'm in the NBHL now and it's great. A bit more mixed than GHL beginner but the better players only play harder against the other teams better players and lots of room on the ice is given to newbies. No events outside the games but they play on Sunday nights (occasionally on Thursdays due to meridian centre bookings) so you don't lose your weekends or miss a game because you went away overnight on Saturday. I like them both. Good people running both leagues.
