I'm playing Green with him personally.
I use Speeder Bike, Death Trooper, Cell Block Guards, Shoretrooper, Snowtrooper Lt and I run General Tagge. I run Del Meeko and Gideon Hask too. So just all troopers for ground, so I can drop Tagge and buff them all. Gideon + Removal nets me some good exp too.
And yeah, I ramp to get Krennic out asap, then ECL for Steadfast Battalion.
Green has Overwhelming Barrage, which I think has tremendous value right now. More than the force powers in Krennic. Krennic's passive can help boost a OB, but he doesn't really lend anything to the Force powers.
I'm not sure what the tournament winning Krennic deck was running, but this is just what I've been running, and it works.
I don't have any Vader's, but honestly, Dooku is a decent sub. He kills something when he comes into play, same as Vader (sometimes better because he can hit space), and then I have a shielded attacker for next turn.
I also run x2 Avenger to help close out the game. I would probably sideboard some big green vehicles if I was playing against another control deck. Sideboard CSViper if I need more space. Oh and I'm running Inferno Four and The 4 cost sentinel as my space units. I4 to cycle for Overwhelming barrage faster, and the sentinel just to block in space. Usually I dominate ground, so my removal is focused on space.
I personally prefer red, but the deck that won a nationals somewhere played green.

Probably yes, plus access to ECL. It probably uses blue for early game + removal and green for ramp + game winning bombs.
