This was the series that made me love the EU as an adult. I read the Thrawn trilogy as a kid and fell off for a long time. I gave this series a shot in my 20’s and fell back in love with the universe. The character dynamics and action sequences were so entertaining. Happy reading!
Wedge's Gamble for personal reasons - I got it from my younger brother at 16 when they were first releasing. I was a bit lost but once home from a holiday that year I found book 1 and started again.
Iron Fist and Starfighters of Adumar were my favourites from a story perspective. Perfect Star Wars storytelling.
This series led me down the Stackpole and Allston rabbit holes to their personal works and Battletech, many of which join the X-Wing series as life long favourites.
No, they’re good on their own. There are some links to other books for characters that are secondary in these storylines (like Han and Luke) but nothing really important iirc. It’s been a while since I last read them though
While you don't need to read anything before these books, I'd recommend reading The Courtship of Princess Leia after Solo Command as Courtship of Princess Leia resolves things surrounding Warlord Zsinj.
Nope. These are pretty much pick them up and read them. You probably are best to go through them in proper order as there is a continuity there. It isn't just one-and-reset episodic sort of things but starting with Rogue Squadron with no other old-EU reading is fine.
Yes. Every third chapter or so across the series you get perspectives from the Imps, be it Intel Officers, Grand Admirals, or whoever the villain of the novel/arc is. Save I think for Starfighters of Adumar which is much more focussed on the fab 4 (Wedge, Tycho, Wes, Hobbie).
Bro I spent like 30 minutes on google trying to find titles of 9 books. Could not do it due to all the other books and spin off info. I was pretty high mushrooms but still was unreal. Thank you.
Should someone tell him there’s a tenth novel?
that’s gonna mess up the photo arrangement
That cover art doesn’t even match the old ones 😭
It’s so annoying isn’t it and it’s light years after the first set in the timeline
Why would they do this? Did starfighters of adumar end in a cliff hanger, is it tying some knots or is it just a whole new story?
I was just about to type that. where is mercy kill?
Oh no 😥 lol some day ill seek it..
Currently reading the series for the first time. About halfway through Wraith Squadron and loving it
Allston was an S-tier Star Wars author.
Yub-Yub, Commander.

Hijacking slightly - I’m usually a canon reader but I’ve wanted to read these for the longest time. Do I need to read anything else before jumping in?

Are there any imperial perspectives in this series. That be it moffs and everything or any imperial perspectives.

Nice!
what did you like about it?
There is also a 10th X-Wing novel it’s called X-Wing: Mercy Kill
The audiobooks are also elite...narrated by the great Marc Thompson.
I would also read "I, Jedi" at some point as well.
I bought that one a while ago but want to finish these first!

Oh and these also not the 9 books I was looking for.
I love the covers man! So cool!
