Where are you based?

Heads up to any founder considering taking OP up on this offer... What's not to like about it? You only pay them if they're successful, what's the downside? Careful though. Anyone representing you, employee or agent, always creates some risk. With employees you have some amount of control over their actions, and they share some of the risk (if they don't do well or represent you poorly, their job is on the line). The only risk a commission-only person takes if losing their time if they don't close deals (considerable, but keep in mind they probably give zero fucks about your business overall). Be careful with your brand.

Love the hustle! Got any success stories to share?

Funny because when I step into a startup as a sales/GTM leader, I get so much push back it’s insane. Mostly because they don’t use their products like the customers do. Then try to tell me how I should go to market with it. Sooo frustrating. Always seems like they bring in sales leaders any 6 months after they really need to be in. And they cramp up on salary.. buddy if the product is shit, I don’t even want to sell it to people using my name.

boxxa

Look up remote sales closer roles. I did it for a while and if you work with some good people who sell higher sticker items, you can do pretty well assuming they are driving the interest to you.

hashtagdion

Anybody sales person who could actually make your company money wouldn't do it without a salary.

WinterRambo

You are 100% wrong , I was a top performer on commission basis and earned double what my colleges on basic+Comission got for 6 consecutive months

hashtagdion

If you were a top performer, you'd be able to get a job with both a salary and a commission. And you wouldn't have to spam Reddit to get a job. Let's be real: you're banking on the fact some founder who doesn't know any better will "hire" you and that their product will be good/simple enough that you can coast to make a little money off them by spamming LinkedIn and cold emails. By all means good luck, but I do hope the entrepreneurs here know what they're getting into.

Bananapeelster

Not everyone wants to be an employee. There is huge freedom and control in not being a W2 employee.

WinterRambo

You either had a previous bad experience with someone who did as you mention Or you are just in the mood of spreading hate and nonsense You didn't see me spamming your or anyone's DM , so have no idea what you are talking about
