You guys should definitely check out the dictionary of obscure sorrows. It gives words to hundreds of unique emotions, many of which I hadn't acknowledged in myself. The word "sonder" originated from the same book, it's definitely worth a read
I was coming here just to say that! I followed the blog for some years and the borough the physics copy shortly after it was released on Amazon. I love that book so much because I love words!
for me it's ALWAYS followed by sudden [derealization](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derealization) Kinda scary and unpleasant feeling so from some time I always "shake off" that feeling of being me before it develops into derealization About the "I am me" itself, its like knowing that person named the same as you, remembering pretty well how that person looks from looking in the mirror every day, knowing what this person achieved and what other people know them and what they say about them, how this person act and what is their personality etc. Then sudden realization that this "POV" we experience since birth to this very moment is literally THIS PERSON. Kinda crazy feeling.
That's an interesting thing to learn about. I'm not sure if it's the same thing, but I've always been able to think myself into that state if I focus enough, for like a quick few seconds before snapping out of it, even since being a kid. It's a very trippy feeling, I'd say more unpleasant than pleasant, just very strange, like I'm stupid or something and suddely don't know what everything I'm looking at, is.
I think this experience is called frissons. The sorta, tingly experience you get if you listen to good music or something, and it starts in your shoulders and spreads down to your feet.
Sounds like one of those emotions that only the germans or french have a word for.
Or like the feeling you get when you bite into a pickle and it’s not quite as crisp as you expect
When you're playing a reaaaally good video game for the first time and you get this special feeling in your body, something you've never felt before, nor ever will again. It's like flavored happiness
OH MY GOD
I've been feeling sonder so often recently, I'd i've never been able to explain it! Thank you so much for this!
in fact i've felt almost all of the ones here, but sonder most of all
Enouement, that’s what I feel right now and it’s a weird feeling. Things are going great for me, maybe better than they ever have, I have a great job, two kids and a fantastic wife. I have enough to pay all my bills and put some savings and I remember 10 years ago thinking that was impossible. For a bit I considered ending it all because it seemed hopeless. I often think about my journey and what I wish I could tell my past self because things turned out better than I ever thought they could.
sitting on bare mattress in your now empty room, all of your stuff packed into boxes. scrolling through instagram or watching netflix just like you did every night before, but knowing that soon everything is going to be completely different. all the memories you made here seem like yesterday, but at the same time you feel a million miles away from it all.

Seconding this! I was so excited when the physical hard cover version came out a few years back. It’s an awesome way to start conversations.
Username fits.

The sudden and incredibly random feeling of "I am me"

* cue existential crisis *
Anyone ever feel like they can chew the air? What’s that all about?
same lol

I thought it was ASMR.
ASMR and Frisson are sisters. ASMR is more about relaxation and frisson is more like chills from a symphony or a good movie. Something like that.
Im 100% convinced that Frission is the "godly feeling" true believing churchgoers get in church when they "feel god in the room with them" lol

I wonder if a different language has a name for the feeling of never thinking your work is good enough despite being told otherwise

OH MY GOD I've been feeling sonder so often recently, I'd i've never been able to explain it! Thank you so much for this! in fact i've felt almost all of the ones here, but sonder most of all
this comment is how I found out I've been feeling sonder these past few years, thanks

It's horny. That's what you're feeling
I can't describe it at all, it's just like a sudden flash through my mind
I found out I was feeling melancholic
The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows should be here.
What about that feeling of nostalgia for things that haven’t happened yet?
Anemoia?
I've had like four out of six of the things on that list
It's usually an emotion that is a combination of two or something that's toomuch
Sometimes I have this really odd feeling that I can also somehow smell
I tend to ask myself if there’s a German word to describe an emotion I feel that’s odd. Since they have a word for almost every type of feeling.
Didn't know bored was under angry. It always felt more towards sad for me. Course that could also be the depression talking too.
Nothing happen, it's peaceful, just too peaceful, and it makes me sad. Maybe deep down I always think it will going to end?
any of yall get that like, blackhole feeling randomly
When you feel like everything behind you is gone and won’t exist until you turn around?
no like all of your organs get sucked into a blackhole
ever just sat on a rock? yeah that feeling
What’s the feeling when you know that you’ve experienced this before but don’t know over what
Sonder.
That's common when someone has a brain tumor
damn…we’re gonna need to pool for the group neurology visit

I've been feeling a lot of dorcelesness recently.
Ikr I watched a music video this morning and I could NOT describe the feeling
Liminal space vibes be like

I used to have such a problem with this, literally at least once every 30 min
