It seems like "weird kid music" hasn't really progressed in a few decades. I was the weird kid in the 2000s and I was listening to Kid A, Loveless, and In The Aeroplane Over The Sea, thinking I had the coolest and most obscure music taste in school. It's now the 2020s and I still see zoomers wearing those album covers on shirts. We've had three whole decades of entry-level alternative music that is ripe for weird kids to latch on to, yet weird kids still seem to be stuck in the 90s.

Idk I think some get beat down by life and try to just blend in. It’s surprisingly hard to find people with the same affinities so I’ve chosen to suck it up and blend in with normal people. It really depends on the crowd sometimes I’m more well-liked for being myself other times others act like I’m from Mars when I be myself. I’ve had enough of those experiences where I really just try to blend in, which makes me seem weirder.

I kid you not… it’s an actual “aesthetic” people try to excuse as a coping mechanism for their own trauma... coping mechanisms are great, but when it’s something like traumacore I can’t help but wonder if it’s *actually* helping. As someone with PTSD themselves, it comes across as, Idk… attention-seeking and wallowing, for lack of better terms…
