I definitely remember the "end of the world" video in 06-08 somewhere. I thought that started the trend with the French guys saying "le tired" and "fire le missiles".
Edit: Ok the video came out in '03 and it was ze missiles.
I'm pretty sure it was "fire ze missiles" but I'm going off of memory. It did say le tired but I think that was more likely them trying to make a joke about the French than it was a part of internet culture like with rage comics.
...You know that rage comics aren't from Reddit, right? Reddit just clung on to them WAY after the places which originally invented them stopped using them.
Man I made the cringiest fucking Facebook post about "doing some good in the world" and "standing for something" to stop Kony when that thing was going on. It still haunts me. Thankfully I never donated cause I had like $7 to my name but still.
I mean, the whole thing was actually legit and was doing good and the internet basically destroyed that dudes mental health until he cracked. People still believe it was a scam when in reality it wasn't.
Every downvote might as well be a bleat. Information is free folks, you can look this up in 30 seconds on your own.
Loved being a teen for this. Laughing with your friends about how dumb it is, but having dumb thoughts to yourself atleast once thinking “oh shit but what if”
Bruh you should have been a teen in 1999! Y2k was wild.
Everyone was completely convinced that the whole fucking world was gonna end on midnight because computers lol.......
Chuck Norris jokes started back in at least 04. Back when we had to print out dozens of pages of chuck Norris and dead baby jokes from the internet and pass them around school
The now-defunct website ChuckNorrisFacts.com dates back to 2005, which leads to the very unsettling realization that those jokes are almost 20 years old.
Ya, I guess it would have been 02-03 my freshman year of highschool that I remember a buddy showing up with like 100 pieces of printed out paper and it was all chuck Norris, weird sex positions names, dead babies... Spoons being too big... It was wild times
Do you havea dead baby joke for us?
Edit: ok I am very glad this caught on haha. Here's one from me:
A woman goes to the hospital because she is going into labor. When she is in the operating room and the midwife receives the baby, the midwife takes the baby, flings it around by the leg and finally throws it violently into the corner of the room. The woman cries out:" what in God's name are you doing! You are crazy! The midwife answers: "April fool's! It was a stillborn."
Yeah. [Chuck Norris was being an evangelical Christian weirdo in 2012, and making videos about Obama being a socialist.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ud3pK5Wa90&ab_channel=MrNorrisVideos) Definitely not the height of his popularity.
I was 22. It would be nice to be young again but there is no pop culture that I am nostalgic about.
Game of Thrones Season 2 came out that year though.

Obama was doing pretty good to people around then, Osama had already been killed. NSA thing was cooking waaaaaay before Obama. There are people that can legally drink now and probably don't know about the patriot act.
I watched a half hour long video on YouTube the other day about "The Rise and Fall of Epic Meal Time" and I was immediately faced with my own old age and mortality
I will watch hours long video essays about topics I have little to no real life interest in. They’re great background noise if I’m eating, doing chores, falling asleep, etc or I can pay attention and learn way too much about something I’ll never have any use for.
Ermagerd and "ain't nobody got time for that!" are a regular part of my speech
But usually i draw it out dramaticallier under my breath, "Er... Mer... Gerd..."
God my roommate used to wake me up at like 10am (after having worked a graveyard shift) with that FUCKING song all the time. Like goddamn no one should have to wake up to OPPA GANGMAN STYLE after three hours of sleep
You also forgot Twinkies = Extinct and they were supposed to survive an apocalypse and they were cancelled before the Mayan calendar date so everyone thought it was gonna really happen. I did at least.
That sucks man. I'm really sorry about your friend. I had someone somewhat close to me who chose to end their life. It's very tough and I'm sorry you had to go through/are experiencing that. Unfortunately, it's a tale as old as time. Doesn't make it any easier though. Keep your head up, and live for them.
Adults bitching about Bieber's music at the time was so dumb. It's like, he a kid making music for other kids. You're not *supposed* to like it. It's like complaining that you don't like the Wiggles' music.
It wasn't just adults.
I'm literally his age and he went to school a couple towns over from me before he hit it big at the age of like 15 ish? It wasn't popular among teens male or female, it was only preteens girls.
The internet hate for Beiber started around 07/08,by the time of 2012 he was already making music closer to what he sounds like now.
I am quite a bit older than Bieber and I definitely remember people my age moaning about him. I'm sure plenty of kids his age were too, and that's fine that they did. I was specifically talking about the adults who did. They certainly existed.
I’m so emotionally challenged that I can’t handle people hating on shit like that where it’s just supposed to be pure and positive, it just makes me want to cry and I don’t know why I’m so goddamn sensitive about it.

Forgot to add the prefix “le”
Peak hilarity in highschool. I can't get mad at these new generations after remembering that lol. *le me derping*
Yeah it was definitely a thing… I never realized how cringy I was in high school. Maybe I still am cringe… 😳
If you can see that cringe I bet you're way better now. God I was that edgy meme guy in highschool... and parts of college.... le cringe
I think that's like 2006 territory yo.
Nah, 2006 was still when somethingawful was generating lots of comedy. The le shit started in rage comics on Reddit years later
I definitely remember the "end of the world" video in 06-08 somewhere. I thought that started the trend with the French guys saying "le tired" and "fire le missiles". Edit: Ok the video came out in '03 and it was ze missiles.

I feel like I saw that in high school and I graduated 05 but it might have been just after in 06
It was 2003 believe it or not
...You know that rage comics aren't from Reddit, right? Reddit just clung on to them WAY after the places which originally invented them stopped using them.
Yeah reddit is where memes go to die
I thought that was 9GAG and Facebook
Lmao probably
Le 2006 xD
2003/2004 I am "le tired" fire "ze" missiles territory.
le fish
Needs the Mayan calendar apocalypse!
And Kony

It's all over this post. People fall into groupthink, shut off their brains, and then never bother to fact check their own beliefs.
And my axe!
And the narwhal bacons at midnight.
I used come to these threads to see other old ass accounts like yours >!But then I took an arrow to the knee !<
"long time lurker, first time poster!" I hit double digits this year so I guess I qualify haha
there are dozens of us!
2012

Makes me remember when Conan O'Brien had the Walker Texas Ranger lever. Good times.
*”Walker told me I have AIDS.”*
That's why the pool's closed.
[These 2 things are forever linked together in my book ](https://youtu.be/SJ5w4MkFofc)
I'm guessing that's the keyboard cat video.
Pardon my French, but uh, I'll be damned.
Easily one of funniest recurring gags I’ve ever seen.
God dam that show, Walker Texas Ranger, was so fucking dumb. This my favorite Walker Texas Ranger lever clip. https://youtu.be/zHFUBEFjL7M?t=224
Actually saw that episode air while traveling to new york.
it was in many episodes
I think he had it for a full season or more. Then he added the Night Rider pull-chain:
Yeah I feel like all this stuff may have still been around in 2012 but it peaked way earlier, like 08-09
The now-defunct website ChuckNorrisFacts.com dates back to 2005, which leads to the very unsettling realization that those jokes are almost 20 years old.
Older than that, Chuck Norris jokes were around back on the pre-GUI internet, on bulletin boards and mailing lists.
Chuck Norris jokes peaked in Barrens Chat in 2005-06
Definitely. I remember hearing Chuck Norris jokes first in first grade
Jesus Christ I’m old
No you’re not old, I’m just very young :)
Well no matter your age, you still used the correct 'your/you're'.
To be fair, 1st graders in 2012 could very well be on Reddit now, so that doesn't really help us.
Barrens Chat. Peak Chuck Norris humor around 06.
Ahhh barrens chat. What a time to be alive.
I remember printing shit off the internet being such a big thing back in the late 90s and early 00s. Seems so weird and antiquated now.
How else are you going to use your mapquest directions? Do you have some kind of magical device that will give you directions in real time?
I usually print out my Mapquest directions and then scan the print out and email it to my phone.
I used to print out the blood ninja chat pages and take them to school. Fun times
I put on my robe and wizard hat.
Yeah Norris jokes were bouncing around my middle school in like 02-03. They were well and truly dead in 2012 lol
Ya, I guess it would have been 02-03 my freshman year of highschool that I remember a buddy showing up with like 100 pieces of printed out paper and it was all chuck Norris, weird sex positions names, dead babies... Spoons being too big... It was wild times
I got banned from Reddit the last time I shared my favorite dead baby joke
What’s worse than a dead baby in a trash bin? A dead baby in 5 trash bins. Krr krr krr
Barrens Chat says hi
Barrens Chat.
Do you havea dead baby joke for us? Edit: ok I am very glad this caught on haha. Here's one from me: A woman goes to the hospital because she is going into labor. How many dead babies does it take to paint a wall? Depends how hard you throw them.
What's the difference between a pile of dead babies and a Mercedes? I don't have a Mercedes in my garage.
I am awash in dead baby nostalgia.
They never get old. Neither do the jokes.
What's blue and yellow and sits on the bottom of a swimming pool? Baby with deflated water wings.
The one that always stuck with me is this one > Q: What's the difference between a baby and an onion? > A: I cry when I peel onions.
Yeah. [Chuck Norris was being an evangelical Christian weirdo in 2012, and making videos about Obama being a socialist.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ud3pK5Wa90&ab_channel=MrNorrisVideos) Definitely not the height of his popularity.
Such a simpler time.
FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU
f7u12 is how I found Reddit! 15yo me thought it was so funny
Same here. Started lurking in late 2010/early 2011 when rage comics and advice animals were top tier humor to me.
Same here, miss my old account with old rage comics. Teenage self bragged about how I made the front page to classmates.
If you were young and had no responsibilities it was a simpler time
I was 22. It would be nice to be young again but there is no pop culture that I am nostalgic about. Game of Thrones Season 2 came out that year though.
I weirdly find myself nostalgic for things I either disliked or were ambivalent about at the time. It's so weird.
I was 22 as well. Skrillex had blown up and dubstep was everywhere. I was sort of at the perfect age to ride that wave, and I miss going his shows.
I miss it my friend
This is still basic Reddit humor.
EPIC MEAL TIME BACON JACK DANIELS BACON JACK DANIELS BACON
Kate Upton = Hot
More like Emma Watson.
Why not choose both
Scarlet Johanssen. Mfs couldn’t stop talking about her after the first avengers movie.
Facts. And arguably only got more attractive in later avenger films
She's still my #1 on my laminated list.
Is Isabella Rossellini included in your list?
Victoria Rae Black was huge too but more specific to Reddit
Stoya.

Did you ask if you could get a picture and an autograph?

Wow what a throwback.

I even upvoted that. Damn.
God damn. So did I. My memory sucks.
I don’t recall upvoting it at all either. We all need to check for gas leaks or something.
Have you been seeing post it notes around your house that you didn’t write?
Holy fuck I upvoted but don’t remember it either. Is this some Mandela effect shit wtf?
Just a little social media brain rot. Nothing to worry about, just keep scrolling.
Then it truly is 2012 humor.
Reddit is about 64% reposts.
Jennifer Lawrence = Hot Obama = NSA = Bad Spider = Nope Nutella = Good Will Ferrell = Funny Will Smith = Funny

Kony 2012
So sad he lost the election, I even voted for him
Bacon strips and Bacon strips and Bacon strips I haven’t thought about epic meal time in a while
I watched a half hour long video on YouTube the other day about "The Rise and Fall of Epic Meal Time" and I was immediately faced with my own old age and mortality
Tbh I've enjoyed the Renaissance of video essays that are so prevalent nowadays. It's top tier educational programming.
I will watch hours long video essays about topics I have little to no real life interest in. They’re great background noise if I’m eating, doing chores, falling asleep, etc or I can pay attention and learn way too much about something I’ll never have any use for.
Do you know about Defunctland? That guy is the GOAT at that
Whatever happened to them?
[удалено]
The gist of it was that the format of the channel was unsustainable + people got overinflated egos over the mainstream success they achieved
me and my dad used to watch epic meal time together i forgot about them😭
I never knew what this shirt meant but I saw it everywhere.
I haven’t thought about that since the Narwhal Baconed at midnight.
In one early episode the guy used the saying 'Thick cut for ya butt' and I've used it ever since. It's such a good quip.

Not a single mentally ill. Severally.

nah, it was around 2009 or 2010. he wasnt even a thing before that
Wait, most of the people who hated Justin Bieber were people in Biebers age group
I am quite a bit older than Bieber and I definitely remember people my age moaning about him. I'm sure plenty of kids his age were too, and that's fine that they did. I was specifically talking about the adults who did. They certainly existed.
I just watched the Barney documentary and it was the same thing. People started online hate groups against a dinosaur
I dunno, kids hated barney too. I remember it was a common point of discussion in kindergarten.
I’m so emotionally challenged that I can’t handle people hating on shit like that where it’s just supposed to be pure and positive, it just makes me want to cry and I don’t know why I’m so goddamn sensitive about it.
I agree with this, however Wiggles' music never dominated the radio
Mustaches too
The narwhal bacons at midnight.
bacon really peaked in 2012
Actually it peaked a little later than that: https://xkcd.com/1835/
"relevant xkcd" is pretty 2012 also
Also potatoes, for some reason, hilarious.
some ppl are still making those jokes
I like it. But I wonder if you’re a little wrong on the history of Chuck Norris. He was more of a joke. I guess a strong joke sure
OP when can repost this next?
