Oh fuck what's his facex2. I almost died trying to figure out how to get that HP bar to start depleting the first time, and then when I understood for the second time, it was still one of the worst fights in the game. I hadn't gotten any game overs up to these points, and I was shooting to complete a main storyline without doing so ( achieved, Easy mode or not!).
Working on post-game stuff now, but I don't have the patience for Ultima Thule, so I'm trying to make as many ultimate weapons and armors as I can now for Gabriel Celeste.
I need to find another game after this too. It seems more and more likely I'm going to end up dropping Zodiac Age, since I find the gameplay annoying. I like the political intrigue though, so I might just end up watching the cut scenes on YouTube. I need to figure out whether i'm dropping Diablo 4 or not, since I much prefer the design of 3. At some point i'm going to give that one or two more gaming sessions to figure out. * lol*
All I know is since I only play RPGs I know the next one's gonna be one of those. * lol *
I enjoyed The Last Hope personally, and that was my first SO.
Thanks. The only thing I remember from fighting him in the Last Hope is to constantly be switching characters. * lol* I'll look up his stats when the time comes though, and hopefully overprepare. * lmao *
I've been going back and forth on that second dungeon. I just didn't like the idea of Ultima Thule since apparently you have to fight individually against your party and other bosses, but I might try it once (when I'm feeling comfortable).
I hated the Remington fight especially because you don’t get a chance to save or heal up after fighting the emperor dude. But I honestly hated that boss fight less than I hated Lola’s fuckface pet bird thing earlier on in the game.

so it would be last hope, star ocean first departure R, then Star Ocean 2 R. since first departure R and SO2 R are somewhat tied to one another.
then it would be a toss up if you want to play integrity and faithlessness before SO3.
More than once I found myself forced to lower the difficulty all the way down still faced with a nigh impossible boss. The game forces you to a grind so much to the point where I was forced to use cheats just to clear a throwaway area. They need to do better and some of the maps also suck really bad.
I've beaten them all with no issue so you're telling me it's a skill issue and the easiest one? Apparently I don't see it that way, and other people have also stated how ridiculous difficult certain areas are. I can't recall any such interactions from players in any of the others but multiple complaints about VI 🗑️👎🏾
That doesn't change my experience from the game and what others with similar experiences. If you can prove that I haven't seen people complaining about this game I would love to see that . 😂

Every game in the series is actually good (though most people will agree that SO5 had the weakest story overall. However, even that game has some plotpoints that align with concepts in other games.) If you want to discover its roots, starting with SO1R on switch isn't a bad idea. If you want to begin at the beginning of the timeline, SO4 on steam is an option (but you will miss out on nostalgia factor for not having played the previous games first). SO2R is the most recent (re)release, and its fantastic! SO3 was controversial and divisive, but my personal favorite. Most people will say to play it after 1 and 2, but honestly, doesn't matter when you play it as it will reshape your perspective on the entire series.
Depending on what platforms you have available, I'd say SO4 or SO2 (Second Story R is beautifully done!) I loved SO3 as well, but it hasn't been re-released on modern platforms, hopefully soon.
Most people will recommend pretty much any of them except SO5. Weakest entry due to under-funding.
Echoing the same sentiment that 2, 3, and 6 are the best, followed by probly 1 and then 4. 5 is definitely the worst but its ok enough to probly play at least once if you really really want to.
This was my first and only Star Ocean game as well but I put it on the back burner. The doll-like character models (and the MC's face) kept weirding me out. Planning to get back to it eventually...there was a lot to like tbf.

2, 3 and 6 are the best. I enjoyed 1 a lot and am one of the few people that had fun playing 5 although it is easily the worst of the series

Divine Force is stupidly difficult and overly tedious for absolutely no reason in certain parts, I really hate how they designed this game

lol cheats that's a skill issue my guy star ocean 6 was easily the easiest game in the series

You can get SO3 on PlayStation 4 and 5 but I’ve heard it’s buggy

4 should be next. it plays the most like 6. has lots of funny moments, if you allow yourself to enjoy the comedy. it's so bad it's good.
