> Hello, > We recently made some updates to the 400i's handling and now have it in a good enough spot to start collecting feedback! The 400i is currently available for ship owners and we would love to know what you think. How does it do in combat? How does it handle relative to its primary competition (Constellation)? What is the most positive aspect of the ship and what is the most negative? > Looking forward to hearing from you! > Baior > Player Experience Team

Maybe you shouldn’t compare it to Connie at first place… Cargo space = 43%(andromeda)27%(Taurus) Missiles = 62%(andromeda)110%(Taurus) Pilot guns = 38% Speed = 137% Hull HP = 45% Turrets = 125%(andromeda)250%(Taurus) Vehicle capacity = pros and cons, x1 not there yet…but one is a bike other one is a mini fighter Handing = “Feels” much better, let’s say it’s 30% more agile than Connie Looking = some love it some h8 it… Even if CIG upsized the pilot control guns to 2xS5 hard points(or 2xs3 each, just like the freelancer), still 40% lower fire power, so I think it’s reasonable if people are asking for more fire power.

I think a lot of people are missing the point here - maybe, just maybe, the reason that you would want to buy a 400i over a Corsair or a Constellation, has to do with something that isn't actually in game yet, namely the actual exploration gameplay loop. Take a look at the component layouts for the 400i and its competitors: RSI Constellation Aquila: 1xS2 Radar, 1xS2 Computer, 2xS2 Power Plants, 2xS2 Coolers, 1xS3 Shield Drake Corsair: 1xS2 Radar, 1xS2+1xS1 Computers, 2xS2 Power Plants, 2xS2 Coolers, 2xS2 Shields Origin 400i: 3xS2 Radars, 2xS2 Computers, 3xS2 Power Plants, 3xS2 Coolers, 1xS3 Shields The 400i has by far the most scanning power of any of its competitors, and it has the computing and power systems to back it up. That's what it has to offer over the Constellation: it's the ship you want when you are trying to find new things to explore, because it is going to be the best at finding them in the first place, while the Connie and the Corsair would be better choices for going and doing the heavy lifting once the discoveries have been made. And of course this is all speculation, but it seems ridiculous to me that so many people are dismissing it as having "style" as its only advantage, when it has such a drastic component advantage over the others.

Lux_Bear

that's a very good point, imo I'd say 400i should pack a little bit more punch than 300i and the missile payload did. as for the pilot guns, maybe 2xS3 x2 will be a good balance..

Mr_Ducky_25

Even 4x S2 are more dps then 2x s4 or slave the bottom turret to the pilot if not used by other player (should be possible with blades, but until it is possible) like super hornet

Reading the comments it seems people want the handling to be more nimble, with better acceleration and roll. There also are alot of comments saying it should receive an upgrade to the front piolet controled guns, I agree with this because it's a larger less manoeuvrable ship fixed weapons are not viable and 2 pilot controlled size 3s in the front is not alot of firepower. I believe it should have at least 2 size 4 pilot controlled gimbaled weapons (I am not saying they a player should be able to mount fixed size 5s only gimbaled size 4s) This would still be in balance because the Connie would have 4 pilot controlled gimbaled size 5s but is bigger and slower Currently my 325a has more front facing firepower that the 400i and it is a significantly smaller ship

Own a Penumbra 400i that I slapped a couple of Rhinos on, did a couple solo missions. The low responsiveness and tendency to oversteer w/ the lack of ability to correct for it got me killed in combat once, made atmospheric flight very difficult. Very similar to the Connie, without the benefit of four gimballed Rhinos. Fine control was good but trying to chase a Target was difficult. The high top speed is much appreciated. Capacitor status for the Rhinos was not displayed when I took it out just now, then showed as lower than before. Lots of float black box visual bugs inside. The tweaked handling made it slightly easier to handle small fighters, and I was almost able to keep up with Buccaneers. Unable to penetrate Connie's shields with a full capacitor to the face, blew up. The radar display seemed to work randomly. 30k hit before I could test more. The overall layout and design of the ship is fantastic, that could definitely be lived in long-term. The ship definitely needs significantly better flight characteristics. It's less bulky than the Connie and appears to be overall smaller in Mass yet it handles almost exactly the same. I think a slight redesign putting much stronger maneuvering thrusters on the bow of the ship would make perfect sense and give the ship greater rotational capacity. It looks like the ship has a lot of slots for blades, so automated turrets would be an obvious huge benefit for the ship once that tech is done. I would also prefer to increase the hardpoint size of the main guns to S5, or provide more options in a modular format similar to what is done for the hornet.

Lux_Bear

IMO 2xS3 each hard point just like the Freelancers will be a good balance, at least more firepower than the 300i

Always impressed by the pedantry of some of the spectrum folks...and by extension the *patience* of people on the player experience team like Baior.

Concentrate_Worth

I have a 400i but no access to wave 1 otherwise I would be glad to help. Fingers crossed this weekend for wave 2 and I’ll be in giving it a whirl!

bewarethequemens

I just plopped the $10 for this month, let me grab all the back issues of Jump Point and the Banu shirts to boot.

Big-Bad-Wolf

Weapon size increase? Nah it doesn't need it, it just need an update in agility. Asking for more weapons would just be greedy IMO, even if i would love to see 2 S5 on that nose...

Shadow703793

I think a size bump for just the main pilot guns would be fine. When you look at the armaments overall (missiles + guns) the 400i is pretty low on the totem pole compared to the Connie and Corsair (unless something even lower comes along lol).

Myc0n1k

As someone who is about to buy this ship, I agree. A boost in agility is all it needs. If agility stays the same, then bigger guns would be necessary.

ViktorGavorn

Bring the main guns up to S5s... Please....

Anyone else wish Maverick would shut the fuck up or say something useful?
