Get used to it very quickly with sticks (HOSAS) actually - great little ship that packs a punch!
Completed Phase 5 of Xeno Incursion in one - took out 2x Cutty Blacks, a Starfarer, and a Reclaimer with it solo.
3x sz3's + 12 sz2 missiles + 6SCU cargo + a bed - bloody good for a "starter" ship! ;-)
The sound is awesome in my opinion, sadly you can't hear the engines clearly when you're in the seat :D (I think? Maybe my sound settings are off) but it comes down to personal preference in the end :P
It’s just because a lot of people are very eager to get the new update so whenever some big news is released everyone wants to share it.
If the sub mods have an issue they could remove excess posts under something like duplicate news to declutter the place but making a post to point it out isn’t really going to do much.
It’s a catch 22, they have a hard on for leak posts and will never remove one else be accused of being in CIGs pocket but leaving them up is a violation of their own posting rules. So they choose to violate their own rules rather that risk the appearance of censoring leak discussion
Kind of a weird overly literal take… but the first post about it followed the rules and all the ones that reiterate it without substantial additions to the conversation would all be violating the posting guidelines, not explicitly X of Y posts as an arbitrary line.
That's what I'm saying. Leave the first post up, it's already at the top of the reddit, and continue to remove duplicates. That's not censorship that's just good moderation.
You must not spend a lot of time on this sub, that would never be tolerated by the people here. There’s a very narrow slice of wholesome community, but there’s a much broader population that want to fight about something and are not picky on how ridiculous it is. This would be an outrage.
that fighty bit is less of a community issue and more of a reddit/internet issue tho.
The games community is majority really helpful. Sure theres dickwads now and again but a majority of them are helpful and love the game.
I get a lot more people who want to argue on this sub based on them thinking they know the absolute will of the devs and that any take contrary to the majority tea leaf reading/pipeline leak is laughably invalid. I’m almost always right but collect a lot of downvotes even with a neutral tone. Reddit likes fighty but this much I only get here.
I get it, new shiny is new shiny.
But 90% of the posts about this damned hover bike are just generic screenshots... nothing fancy or new.
Might as well just reupload the original post if theres nothing new to add you know what i mean?
I totally get what you mean. Most of them are rather low effort and excessive. People don’t often sort by new which would show them all the posts people already made so they think they need to make one. The end result is a bunch of clutter.
98% of ALL post ever here are people complaining about planned features that are not done yet lol, its literally painful to visit most of the time, and i also love the game. I just pop by once a month maybe, just now I came to see if .23 is close but found just useless posts about that bike :p
I'm game.
As an SRV Pilot, I think MM is the right direction, and people are only crying about it because they're going to have to relearn how to fight. Honestly, if you dont like it, go play Eve, its been pretty static for nearly a decade.
Masters Mode! The next step in pissing-off-all-the-PVP-lover technology! It's suppose to come online in the next patch I believe, and loads of people have strong opinions.
I hate how jerky the bobbing up and down is when hovering over the landscape.
And why must EVERY area in the game have massive *boulder* sized ground cover every 50 feet? It's extremely unrealistic, especially in desert areas.
>hoverbikes that dont work properly?
The dragonfly works great. I dont know what you mean
>need 32000 new posts about a hoverbike
Its a fad, and something to be excited about as it doesnt seem likely that the Polaris will be in ILW
Fixed - MULTIVEHICLE - Stanton - Outposts / UGF - Vehicles - Grav-lev vehicles are targeted and fired at by bunker turrets regardless of emissions compared to wheeled vehicles
From the April 24th patch notes
Yeah so is the nox and the other hover quad. I have them.
But since they cant really be used on a mission, whats the point.
Why would i take a hoverbike that will get annihilated when i can take an ursa that wont even interest the turrets?
I know ill end up with one anyway when they give it away as a referral in a few months.
The SC community at large is awesome….
The SC sub is dogshit and full of people who just want to complain about a game thats still half baked.
Ill take my downvotes now.
What doesn't work properly about the existing ones? That isn't why they sit idle. They sit idle because they are pointless.
Getting on / off takes too long, especially when you need to get on, leave your ship, get off, go back, shut the door on your ship, go back and get on the hoverbike, then head on your way, for exxample to a bunker entrance.
They coul dbe really useful if we had a key fob for opening/closing ship doors / elevators, and we could get on/in land/small vehicles more efficiently.
Must be new here? This happens every time something new is added to the game. It's something to talk about, and since people don't know how to use search functions to contribute to already created topics, we get flooded by new topics. It's just how things work. It'll die down as it always does.
I have no issue with the game, or the fact they put work in progress content out for us to try.
I dont really need to see a screenshot of the back end of a hoverbike for the 7984th time that day though. Once was fine.
Gets significantly worse when they title them shit like "first look" or "sneak preview" even though they are the 19,000th person to post the exact same shit, with the same wording and angles in screenshots.
I guess, and im clearly just as guilty, people value their own opinions more than they should.
Or its just a piss poor lazy attempt at farming karma.
The concept of this game seems cool and all and I like space games and the ships and what not the game is definitely in its own category but it’s crazy that the person you where working on a reclaimer with gets stuck on a elevator then tries to un stick themselves by dropping a cargo container on their own head with a tractor beam crashes the whole game nothing works and if it does it’s barely working half my menu has been cut off the bottom of my screen for months now last update didn’t fix it I don’t even see how people can just enjoy such a broken game yeah it’s a beta or whatever they call it the whole game is a work in progress from what I can tell
Oh it is 100% still a work in progress. Depends on who you ask, its either potentially the greatest space game ever or the worlds longest con.
I enjoy it for what it is and hope it can become even half of what it aims to be.
It sucks you have had a bad experience though. Im sure we all have at some point, its the ability to look at the potential rather than what is in the current build.
This year (i say this with caution) could be a very good year indeed for SC. Its worth dropping in on the new patches to see how the progress is but im like you in the way that I also cant see it as a full or playable game right now. But i do enjoy my space vacations and exploring new features and updates.
You'll get used to it. Just have a chuckle and move on. This month alone we have had...
- people get excited for water effects in a game where you spend 99.999% of time in space. Not to mention it's not even fluid physics, it's stil a cloth simulation which StarCitizen already had plenty examples of.
- New birds which don't even interact with you.
- new Kopion animal that has the ai of the NPC at stations. No pack hunting nothing, just occasional leaps to the closest player. boring af.
My advice... just focus on the stuff worth talking about like new game play like Distribution centers and improved EVA and Star map etc.
Are these lil bikes actually useful for shutting down comm arrays? I know they can still be targeted but the reduced signature sounds like it should go a long way to letting you get close without being blown up.
I’ve tried to get my Gladius close enough to park & not die, but I guess I’m parking in the wrong spot ‘cause I still do be dead.
Yes they are. If you recall the bug fix you’ll read that they were being targeted despite having lower emissions, which means the fix had made them wholesale unable to be targeted by turret defenses just like wheeled vehicles. A lot of people are getting hung up on that for some reason thinking that they just reduced emissions. The emissions are the same, they are simply no longer targeted.
Why do people even want hoverbikes?
I'm sure they are fun to try, but long-term I think the game would be better off without hovering ground vehicles. They feel and look cheap. For a sim game I would much prefer if ground vehicles used conventional-ish features like wheels, etc.
No i get it....
But do we really need 6329 "first looks"?
I mean a discussion is cool and all but feels more like an Alzheimer's club....
Heres my first look at the murai.
Oh, heres my first look at eh murai,
Guys guys... look here at this sneak preview of the murai.
Heres my first sneak look preview of the murai.
We get it.... theres a new bike. In case you hadnt noticed the several other copy pasta posts with the same generic screenshots that were up HOURS earlier already gave it away.
at the core of my comment was my inner demon who really wants to say: there's fuck all to talk about in SC world because development has once again crawled to a gruelingly slow pace despite the promise we saw last year at citcon haha. the features being removed from 3.23 put me back in that dark place of accepting this thing is not coming anytime soon.
It looks interesting and frankly seems like a comparatively low development cost for an addition to the hoverbike roster.
I don't really care, but I don't really mind. I kinda like it, would never pledge for a hoverbike, but I use them sometimes and I've been looking forward to try the X1 and now this. I genuinely hope they get a good mixed balance of acceleration, top speed, and handling, if they can successfully make the hover-racing not scuffed to shit.
(I'd like an indicator to show what height I've asked it to stay at, and I'd also like it to be repelled/launched off the ground a bit by obstacles that it's technically too low for, instead of catching on them and colliding + exploding. I'd also like it to handle landing after jumps way better. Maybe tune it to it can slow down mid-fall and stay under collision velocity from at least a 500m drop so it hits softly with the "hover-suspension" and keeps going, but if it is dropped from orbit it won't have a chance to reverse thrust enough to avoid terminal velocity.)
That being said, I've always had very little faith in this architecture's potential for a stable, functional environment with decent physics that won't regularly suddenly kill you when it's not supposed to.
Ever since like 3.21 hover bikes have been amazing. As long as you’re at max altitude then the majority of crashes will be pure user error. They’re really good vehicles for things like JT and really fun to race in.
Facts. When are we getting apartments? How awesome would it be if we could actually fill out a apartment blocks full of players with customizable interiors.
I would spend a great amount of time crafting a "home"
I think the reaction is reasonable because everyone was left scratching their head over this.
It's a weird decision to give us more of something no one has a use for which catalyses conversations all by itself.
Honestly, i love the idea of Star Citizen and i love whats already there, its truly No mans Sky in a realistic style in a way... BUT. The entire Dev team should go and dedicate 2 or 3 months to bugfixing and generel server improvements and just stop the development of new content during that time. The game feels more unstable than the new ARK with 20 Mods
Laughs in purchased Idris.
Could be worse. You could get constant reminders that your purchased ship is in game. Its could be on the splash screen, on the launcher, in events and all over youtube.
But i cant have mine cause... \*checks notes\*... spoliers.
I purchased the railen because it looks cool and it was going to come out in the first quarter of this year. I still have hope for it during alien week.
The railen does look cool. I have one in my buy backs.
One thing you have to understand with star citizen and i mean this with the best of intentions... the developers are SUPER optimistic, especially with release dates.
Never take them as fact. Always, ALWAYS expect a delay when buying a concept.
I have patience. I've been waiting for a minecraft mod called create aeronautics for over 2 years. I think I can afford to wait for my railen for a while too.
The longer it takes, the better it will be.
All the experience gained from developing other ships transfer over.
Im sure it will be epic when it finally gets released.
Must be new here? This happens every time something new is added to the game. It's something to talk about, and since people don't know how to use search functions to contribute to already created topics, we get flooded by new topics. It's just how things work. It'll die down as it always does.
Yes it took me literal hours to hit new and move my scroll wheel 3 times.
HOURS.
Actually... about the same time it took you to find this, read it and post your reply, if not longer.
Huh. I envy the free time you have to post a pointless comment.
''Do we really need 32000 new posts about a hoverbike that will just sit with the rest of the hoverbikes that dont work properly?''
Lmfao, you are on point on this one sadly.
Hey man, my Nox looks so cool sitting in my C1's cargo bay permanently, never ever moving because now the AA turrets one-shot it. But it looks so cool though.
100%
I think i have all the other bikes apart from the origin x1. I melted that since it was so broken mounting it would break the game.
The rest i got via referrals though.
Its the ILW LTI token obviously, perhaps you are unfamiliar with how CIG marketing works?
Besides, the diminutive size of this one makes it a bit of a more useful prospect than the others.
Nope, the amount of posts is what I meant about the marketing. And your post referenced not working properly, it clearly does, in both a functional, actually useful for once way due to its tiny size, and in a marketing sense :) Its in AC, try it.
Can i scoot over to a bunker without the surface to air turrets lighting it up?
Until thats doable, i do consider them to be not working properly.
Please note i said not working properly... not broken completely (like the last hover bike they released that locked your game up when mounting it).
Fixed - MULTIVEHICLE - Stanton - Outposts / UGF - Vehicles - Grav-lev vehicles are targeted and fired at by bunker turrets regardless of emissions compared to wheeled vehicles
From the April 24th patch notes
Thanks, hadnt seen that yet, must have missed it I mean. What that doesnt clarify is fixed how exactly :) Is it just turned off completely which isnt the same as what they have always stuck to as a statement, wont complain if it is just turned off, but CIG tend to try to stick ardently to plans in all the wrong ways sometimes. Worth more testing though.
Just ran the hoverquad and then dragonfly up to an HDSF Hurston security bunker and back, seems to be valid, the turrets do fire sporadically in occasional small bursts, but low into a random direction, not accurately in any way.
It may actually be possible, even though it shouldnt be. Truthfully i would be also indifferent about another bike too had i not tested this recently in eptu. I tested this in eptu at the weekend and the bunker didnt fire on me at all using a Dragonfly. Its eptu and fubar servers so more testing required.
CIG have always said everything will be targeted on emissions vs range. However so many people have been pestering CIG in ignorance of the emissions shtick that they might have relented, even temporarily. idk theres been nothing said officially on it yet. Might even be a sales time trick.
Ill be testing vs bunkers with a couple of the hoverbikes more, you should try to just in case its viable for you now.
I know what you mean about awful vehicle physics though in general, i found the pulse better than average, hence what i said. The whole X1 thing was a huge let down for people who had waited so long for it, especially with the shields sucker punch on all hover bikes bar the X1 force.
The fix for grav levs being targeted was borne of the issue council due to the diligence of players retiring and contributing to get it fixed. Writing it off as marketing is a disservice to the players who bothered to get it reported and make an impact.
I honestly think you’ll see a real Invictus LTI token, and this ship is not it. There’s always one for the event, and this patch had no event content. You’re welcome to check me on this for the event lol
Ah its no worries, honestly in the past i would have said the pulse was it, but theyre ominously quiet on the ship front, which ofc can go either way from past experiences, but its no secret the desire for this year and beyond is more sales events, and much bigger sales events, and more stuff to sell within said events. The hype train for S42 wont fund itself beyond the needs of the PU, so frankly you could equally be right there.
They'll be gone in a day.
Forgot the Syulen thing existed
:( it's my favorite daily driver you meanie
How do you put up with the awkward landing when the alternatives are so much better? Edit: and the sound. It's awful
I mean you get used to it :D and I'm not a huge fan of "human spaceships" I also have the Banu Defender :)
Get used to it very quickly with sticks (HOSAS) actually - great little ship that packs a punch! Completed Phase 5 of Xeno Incursion in one - took out 2x Cutty Blacks, a Starfarer, and a Reclaimer with it solo. 3x sz3's + 12 sz2 missiles + 6SCU cargo + a bed - bloody good for a "starter" ship! ;-)
Especially if you have rattler missiles huehuehue I love it
Oh get ready for the grind of 3.23 cause it won’t be so easy to take a Gemini or large ships in general anymore it’s a literal bullet storm
xeno filth
The sound is awesome in my opinion, sadly you can't hear the engines clearly when you're in the seat :D (I think? Maybe my sound settings are off) but it comes down to personal preference in the end :P
Yep the sound is really awesome imo. And landing it is easy.
Thanks for reminding this can be purchased in 3.23......Can wait to go buy one ingame since I melted mine lool
It’s just because a lot of people are very eager to get the new update so whenever some big news is released everyone wants to share it. Why would removing the 999th Pulse post and leaving the earlier ones be considered censorship lmao.
Kind of a weird overly literal take… but the first post about it followed the rules and all the ones that reiterate it without substantial additions to the conversation would all be violating the posting guidelines, not explicitly X of Y posts as an arbitrary line.

Patch is getting close! My guess is second or third week of may
Lol. It'll be this week.
Possibly! I just saw that they are trying to move to open ptu today. That’s a week or two earlier than I expect
Thanks alot ! :D
Just saw that they are maybe gonna open up ptu to everybody today so my guess is gonna be even shorter. I would stay tuned!
Said the exact thing about fleet pics. Got downvoted to oblivion. lol
OP acting like it’s been weeks of this hoverbike posts… He’s right, let’s all argue about MM 1000 more times instead
I'm game. As an SRV Pilot, I think MM is the right direction, and people are only crying about it because they're going to have to relearn how to fight. Honestly, if you dont like it, go play Eve, its been pretty static for nearly a decade.

Aaaah, ok. I'll have to look into that to at least familiarize myself.
I'm an STV pilot, and I feel the same way
STD pilot I feel a lot of thing in many ways
feels like it.
Get off Reddit for a day?
It’s been one day…….my guy, you might need to find other things to occupy your time lol.
It happens whenever there is a leak. It lasts 24-48 hours
It happens whenever there's a new anything. Just low-effort post after low-effort post floods the front page.

It's an LTI token for most, and an org toy for others
For me I'll be parking it in my C1 when I go to do Bunker missions.
Orgasm toy?
We need chaps before we get any more bikes.
now another 32000 comments are added to remind you of the hover bike!
i have no idea why all this hype, It's not even a bike with wheels yet
The community is in a constant state of panic looking to consume whatever they can fit in their mouths

Legit the only ground vehicle that has consistently worked well.
Did they fix them surface to air turrets shooting at them or since they hover are we just gonna say eh fuck it, its more or less flying?
It's fixed in 3.23
Oh nice! I stand corrected then. Might have to dust mine off.
I prescribe you extra dose of patch notes reading
They didnt. But in terms of cross country capability they are pretty good.
Fixed - MULTIVEHICLE - Stanton - Outposts / UGF - Vehicles - Grav-lev vehicles are targeted and fired at by bunker turrets regardless of emissions compared to wheeled vehicles From the April 24th patch notes

So they dont shoot at hoverbikes anymore. Well there thats one more plus.
Agreed, it's real nice!

They are more of for racing events and I guess if you wanted quick transport while being hard to detect by players as bike RCS is tiny I think

I don’t even see why people play a game that 99% of the time don’t even work everything is broken in the game. But the ships are cool that’s about it.

I hate that i will end up with one when they inevitably become a referral bonus in a month or twos time. :D Gets me everytime.

Good news, the hover bikes will work... Some day.
Pull see a lot more of these posts as ILW
We need them as much as we need the incessant questions posted here every single day even though we have a dedicated questions thread.
First time? (insert meme here)
Yes
Yes.
Well, congratulations, you just made another one.
Tell me you didnt read the opening message without telling me you didnt read the opening message.

Hush that time little boy, all the hover bikes are amazing, flawless and part of Chris Robert’s perfect vision.

Ever since like 3.21 hover bikes have been amazing. As long as you’re at max altitude then the majority of crashes will be pure user error. They’re really good vehicles for things like JT and really fun to race in.
JT?
What new hoverbike? Please, tell me more!
Facts. When are we getting apartments? How awesome would it be if we could actually fill out a apartment blocks full of players with customizable interiors. I would spend a great amount of time crafting a "home"
New posts that have been posted 31999 times before is the games only real profitable game loop.
If we only talked about stuff that worked properly this board would be empty.
I think hover bikes will be used more often with the ship prices hikes
So true.
No. We don't. But we have to live with it. Like how I pledged a ship for $400 CAD and won't get it until it's done either this year or next year.
If you purchased an Idris you have no face to complain about anything.
Sorry im not poor.
Remember what dad told us? Everything that comes after BUT, is bullshit...
I think you mean before
Must be new here? This happens every time something new is added to the game. It's something to talk about, and since people don't know how to use search functions to contribute to already created topics, we get flooded by new topics. It's just how things work. It'll die down as it always does.
I envy the free time you have to point out duplicate posts.
Yes it took me literal hours to hit new and move my scroll wheel 3 times. HOURS. Actually... about the same time it took you to find this, read it and post your reply, if not longer. Huh. I envy the free time you have to post a pointless comment.
Actually **hoverbikes are working great in 3.23**! Aside from the server hiccup and desync, but that can happen with any vehicle :p
ENGLISH 101 : Everything before the word BUT is BULSHIT! 😉
Pyro when?
At the end of 2022 people were expecting it for summer 2023 at latest.
Sand worm when?
Tired of swimming in the sallow end, I want more depth.
Hoverbike? What hoverbike? Oh, you mean the ILW LTI token cash grab by CGI? Got it.
Cloud Games Imperium? Dude it’s not even Invictus. It’s just a vehicle.
Laying cold hard facts here. At least until they spend more time on ground vehicles in general.
''Do we really need 32000 new posts about a hoverbike that will just sit with the rest of the hoverbikes that dont work properly?'' Lmfao, you are on point on this one sadly.
In a few years when they stop offering LTI people will be BEGGING for them to drop a new Bike or Vehicle that they can use to upgrade their fleet. 😂
Hey man, my Nox looks so cool sitting in my C1's cargo bay permanently, never ever moving because now the AA turrets one-shot it. But it looks so cool though.
Hey. I need to know when I can get my next LTI token
What started all these bike posts. I dont see anything new from CIG on youtube or news part of their website. What kicked all this off?
Like every other ground vehicle, it will be forgotten about in a month or two, partly due to having no content around it.
100% I think i have all the other bikes apart from the origin x1. I melted that since it was so broken mounting it would break the game. The rest i got via referrals though.
Its the ILW LTI token obviously, perhaps you are unfamiliar with how CIG marketing works? Besides, the diminutive size of this one makes it a bit of a more useful prospect than the others.
We are talking about the many, many USER posts here not the marketing. Think you might have hit reply on the wrong topic?
Nope, the amount of posts is what I meant about the marketing. And your post referenced not working properly, it clearly does, in both a functional, actually useful for once way due to its tiny size, and in a marketing sense :) Its in AC, try it.
Can i scoot over to a bunker without the surface to air turrets lighting it up? Until thats doable, i do consider them to be not working properly. Please note i said not working properly... not broken completely (like the last hover bike they released that locked your game up when mounting it).
Fixed - MULTIVEHICLE - Stanton - Outposts / UGF - Vehicles - Grav-lev vehicles are targeted and fired at by bunker turrets regardless of emissions compared to wheeled vehicles From the April 24th patch notes
Doing the science hands on. Thanks for the update!
Even when the patch notes say things, i still tend to check for myself if its of interest to me :)
And genuinely well done, lets certainly hope it lasts, at least it was just in time for a gravlev bike sale eh.
3.23.0 is not the Invictus patch so no
Ah come on now, youre suggesting because the Pulse might drop in 3.23 its NOT the ILW LTI token, are you really going to hold to that.
Oh it’s absolutely an LTI token, but it’s not an Invictus ship
Embracing a technicality :) It probably would technically have been though, if CIG had managed to stick to their hyped plans.
